Walmart just relisted VC Mer-Man and VC Beast Man for release at the end of May and start of June.
Target has several of the MV Vintage Collection on their site now, which was surprising, until I saw it’s through a 3rd party seller.
Which was also surprising because I didn’t know they had those.
Although they have so many MOTU t-shirts and random stuff, I should have known this is not all regular Target inventory?
(MAA has significant mark-up, but not all of them). https://www.target.com/p/masters-of-the-universe-masterverse-vintage-collection-man-at-arms-figure/-/A-1011094983
I found a bunch of Mer-Mans at a local Walmart. But my closest Walmart still has like 30 Zodacs that will never sell & they won't put on clearance.
And I finally got Man-At-Arms close to retail price. This is the only Man-At-Arms figure I really like. I bought the 1st Revelation MAA just to have 1 in my collection, skipped the rest & now this one is perfect.
I don't want or need another Beast-Man so I'm all caught up now. I might still get him because they say his orange is really bright like the original. If he's supposed to based on the original vintage figure, why did they add the shin guards? Easily removed but why add them at all?
And I'm not really interested in Wun-Dar or yellow Evil-Lyn. But I'll probably get Evil-Lyn just for nostalgia. I already have my custom Wun-Dar so buying another one would be a waste of money unless I just get him to do a comparison video.
@sci-fitsunami I like the shin guards because, unlike the vintage BM, the legs of Masterverse are really long, and I don’t love that there’s nothing there.
Like New Eternia Stratos has freakishly long legs, (he’s so tall b/c based on REV Beast Man), anyway the legs are freakishly long and visually they feel … bare, despite the fur. Visually the fig has so much going on on top, nothing on bottom.
So I really think it’s an inspired upgrade to give people this option, for me it visually totally works, (loved it on NE BM already), but for purists you can easily, easily take it off.
I’m of the mind i will never, ever complain that corporate America is giving me too much bang for my buck. That I want less for my buck.
Mer Man had an extra trident, too, Teela has an extra head,… I’m happy about it.
Mer-Man back up for pre-order. It says "release date May 25th". It's in stores right now but the release date is a full month away?
God I HATE WALMART so much! Couldn't get TOG Moss-Man or Mer-Man & can't get Chronicles Scare Glow. And I totally lucked out on this Mer-Man. I was at the same store this morning & they are all gone. 100% random dumb luck because I had a doctor appointment on that day.
@Cosmic I'm not complaining. I like the extra bits too. I'm just saying Beast-Man looks weird to me with the shin guards. They really stick out. I would like to get this figure & I would remove the shin guards. But I really don't need any more Beast-Man figures. New Eternia is still the best IMO.
@sci-fitsunami I like NE Beast Man, too, (the first one?) but I think his head is too small. Been wanting to swap his head but I have no spare head, and currently he’s back in package… Otherwise, I agree he’s an inspired upgrade.
Haven’t opened the second NE BM yet but he looks alright. I like his Lords of Power inspiration.
Right after I finally broke down & paid $30 + shipping for Man-At-Arms, he is now in stock on Walmart for $21.97. It never fails. I just had to wait it out 1 more week.
From now on I'm just gonna wait for these figures to come back in stock. It happened with Teela & Man-At-Arms so it will happen with all of them. And I'll probably have no problem getting Scare Glow in a few months. Just gotta be more patient.
@Cosmic. No I meant the latest one with the moveable jaw.
@sci-fitsunami I just got him but why did they jack the price up to $35? He’s sold by Walmart, not a 3rd party
@Brasco I've been refreshing the page for ages. He was never in stock. I found one for $30 (not on Walmart) so I thought that would be the best deal I would find. I was never able to find TOG Moss-Man or Mer-Man so I didn't think Walmart would ever get them back in stock. And since I just found Mer-Man in store, I figured Man-At-Arms time had passed & they would never restock him.
And now he's not available again.
Okay, so after weeks of doubting the possibility of this Masterverse Wun-Dar appearing, he suddenly pops up out of nowhere. The only way to get him as a Vintage Collection figure is through Walmart and its infamous Cancel-Con, so eBay is the only option for international collectors. That being said, I'm more excited by the message that the figure sends out than by the figure itself; it can wait a while. My tolerance level is quickly reached when it comes to He-Man and his endless variations.
@onlyoneskeletor It's just odd because I don't think Wun-Dar has ever been associated with the Cosmic Enforcers in any canon.
Oh whoah, so he is real after all.
There isn’t a link yet, right?
@durendal I think they just wanted to give us a little extra, and instead of a loaf of bread (new tooling), or a repaint if the power sword, a repaint Zodac helmet was something new, yet fitting for the armor. Perhaps it’s also to give us the opportunity to have a different Cosmic Enforcer for our collection.
Continuing the lore, by adding new accessories… it’s one way to do it.
When reading their articles, their writing is kinda funny:
”…and notably skips the traditional character art panel, which makes sense given his origins as a mail-away figure with no vintage card art to reference….”
What does that mean? Which character art panel? The one on the back? I do love those so I was confused that there wouldn’t be that retro card back illo in the Eroll McCarthy style this time.
But then later in the article, they say they DO look forward to seeing what art he will have (on the back?) So what do they mean in the earlier paragraph 🤔
So many online pages these days, they don’t double check what they are posting. At last they don’t have typos… and they do have good leaks.
The definitive word on this toyline’s future will likely come after the still-rumored Vintage Collection Evil-Lyn, as Toy Habits hasn’t revealed anything beyond her. Time will tell. But oh, what I wouldn’t give for Snake Men, a Dragon Blaster Skeletor, Saurod, Jitsu, the Rock People duo, Extendar, Rio Blast, and why not a flocked Moss Man this time?
This line is not gonna survive unless they get it the hell away from Walmart.
Now the exciting part begins—with Evil-Lyn soon available for preorder, it’s time to see what the future holds for Masterverse as a whole (source: Toy Habits).

@onlyoneskeletor I never got into masterverse, but I hope it doesn't end anytime soon. But then again it might be time for it to end. I wish chronicles was just a reboot of masterverse instead of a different line.
@kinggrayskull09 So do I, my friend. My desire to see better articulated warriors fully explored. I had to resell at least 50% of my MOTUC Classics line just to accommodate the necessary space for such a reboot. But as I said before, there's no point in starting again with a Chronicles line or any other line at this stage. I'm just keeping my fingers crossed that the Vintage Collection MV will continue until it reaches a certain stage before bowing out. Ideally, I would like to see it reach category C characters such as Extendar, Rio Blast and the whole batch of Snake Men, and then it could be nicely completed with what has been offered via the New Eternia/Etheria lines, to name a few.
P.S. I think I understand now why the New Eternia Teela looked so dull. I mean, that type of expression suits the current VC Evil-Lyn much better, doesn't it? Could she have been the primary inspiration for Mattel, despite their release order?
@onlyoneskeletor I think Masterverse started out like Classics did, it wasn't great, but then it got really good. And while I never collected classics either, I kinda miss them. So I hope chronicles only does movie figures l, and keeps Masterverse and origins doing expanded motu stuff. Also the new eternia Teela does look like Evil-Lyn. Maybe I should start collecting Masterverse, where should I start?
@kinggrayskull09 Where should you start? Firstly, it depends on how much you are willing to invest. For some, this is precisely what it's about: an investment. The New Eternia subline should be the number one priority for any fan willing to venture into the brand, since a few names (Webstor, Battle Armor Skeletor and Anti-Eternia He-Man, for example) are now pretty rare.
I'm really worried about the possible continuity of the line. First, Toy Habits, a media outlet known for reliably teasing upcoming MotU figures (among other things), stopped doing so a while ago, which echoes the press interview that Mattel answered earlier this year (speaking about transitioning to Chronicles). So, it's a waiting game for most of us.
She looks good! I have already soo many Evil-Lyns from Masterverse, but somehow, I could be enticed again lolNow the exciting part begins—with Evil-Lyn soon available for preorder, it’s time to see what the future holds for Masterverse as a whole (source: Toy Habits).
I’m curious to know if she has any extra accessories like some of the others do. Evil-Lyn is one of my favorite characters but as toy, the vintage release offered not that much playability.
