@onlyoneskeletor After looking at many international Amazon shops without success, and inspired by your post, I bit the bullet and got Mer Man from eBay. Not from *that* shop, but actually a few bucks less.
I decided I will not go on a VC shopping spree and stick with Mer and Beastie for now. I already got Teela, Stratos and Skeletor. I think I’ll skip the others, like I always planned to, and wait what Chronicles will bring us, in this (approximate) size and Classic / NE-ish style.
Of course, I’ll also keep getting Vintage Origins and maybe a few First Ones to celebrate the movie. Plenty fun stuff.
@Cosmic I am sort of in the same boat. Currently trying to decide whether or not to purchase Stinkor and Spikor Revelation figures. Found them reasonably cheap but in still in two minds.
@cosmic Yeah, I think I know which eBay seller you're talking about—it's easy, since there are practically none of them (lol). Anyway, I'm happy for you! It was a wise decision, in my opinion; Masterverse, and whatever remains of its future releases, promises twists and turns that collectors could do without. The ending of a toyline, followed by their sudden snap-up by unscrupulous resellers who, for the occasion, drive prices through the roof in the name of the now-heralded rarity.
@djfor God knows I loved my MOTUC Spikor and Stinkor, but I never regretted having them replaced by their Revelation replicas — wow! They're awesome and offer a whole new level of thrilling play experience, especially at the current low prices. That is my humble opinion of the experience, of course!
@onlyoneskeletor You're right! I have given my self a good shake and am now eagerly looking forward to my new Stinkor and Spikor figures! 😃
@onlyoneskeletor Did you get rid of your Classics Stinkor and Spikor, or just replaced them in your display?
Ideally, I’d love to have both, they both have pros for me, but yeah the articulation of Masterverse plus longer arms makes them more fun to handle! Plus a reasonable amount of re-imagining making them feel more modern.
That said, the classic look is, just visually, always appealing to me, too.
@djfor Good for you getting these two. Love these characters in particular, no matter which iteration!
@cosmic Yes, I got rid of them. Their articulation limitations became really frustrating for me, especially with Spikor, who was pretty rigid as a figure, and whose bloated armour made his arms shorter, too. I guess this contributed to my connection with them being tarnished. Plus, at the time, Masterverse was flooding the toy aisles and I suppose I panicked a bit, not knowing how I would handle the abundance of new figures — especially the character variations, which were tough to ignore most of the time. But all in all, I do not regret my decision. Even though, from a purely aesthetic standpoint, MOTUC figures are superb!
[…] Like I mentioned…if SG is supposed to be MASSIVE in this new lore then I guess he COULD be in scale with the other figures.
I haven’t seen a video in which the reviewers compares HeMan with other figures. Do you have a link? I’m not asking for “proof” I just haven’t seen a video like that. So would like to check it out
Not sure what you mean with Scare Glow being massive…? He is smaller than New Eternia Tri-Klops, right?
He seems to fit into MV NE, but he feels like a slightly shorter character?
And there are some comparisons of Chron He-Man and Scare Glow on this forum… (they looked same height). fairly recently, posted by @admin I believe… maybe in the Chronicles thread?
@Cosmic I mean in Chronicles if He-Man is 6'2"ish and Scare Glow is supposed to be about 7' then I guess they could be "in scale".
Why not? I mean, such an approach has been used before. Motuc Classics figures at the end of the toy line had slightly improved articulation; Despara is a good example.
@onlyoneskeletor We aren't talking about "slightly improved" articulation. We talking "ground up rebuild". Chronicles Scare Glow feels completely different than even the more detailed New Eternia figures. His articulation system share NOTHING with Masterverse. So if he were originally supposed to be released in Masterverse that would mean they were going to redo everything? I just don't see it.

Here’s the pic that shows Scare Glow and He-Man are the same height, apparently?.

they both look to be smaller than Masterverse, but can fit in depending on the characters (MV He-Man is huge, ofc)

Okay, I caved and got a MV Vintage MAA off of eBay.
So now that I did that he’ll pop back in stock at Walmart within the week. You’re welcome! 😉
I bought VC Merman off eBay for a decent price and the seller messaged me that it was water damaged and cancelled it. My gut reaction was that he was full of bologna
That was almost certainly bologna... if the seller really wanted your money, (s)he would have asked if you are a MOC collector or plan to open it. Maybe even give you a partial refund.
This has actually happened to me a couple of times, and the sellers asked me if I still wanted the items. (They didn't just cancel the sale outright...)

I gave up on the Vintage Collection. Running to eBay is pathetic desperation. I'm not that desperate to have these figures. I'm sick of this game & the only way to win is to not play.

The reality of this hobby can be ugly sometimes....
I've paid some questionable prices for many items in my collection... some rare and vintage, and some recently released.
I'd like to think that Mattel - with decades of experience and advancements in information technology - could meet demand for specific products, but I know that will never happen. (Just look at MOTU x TMNT Mer-Man versus Origins Nekked Stratos.)
At the end of the day, nobody is forcing us to buy anything. We do it because we love it and it makes us happy (sometimes to the chagrin of our spouses.)

@ornclown we have all done that. If I dont feel like going to the store hoping for a re stock or If I feel that a certain figure will jump in price I don’t mind paying a little extra before it gets out of control like Webstor and Blade. Also the hunt is like an adrenaline rush
@ornclown well I was scrolling through eBay and he has it re listed. I already bought another from another seller but I tried to buy another from him just to see and he has me blocked?? I paid 20 seconds after I bought it. This makes no sense
@sci-fitsunami Not having figures that you want is not winning.
Not feeding the scalpers is winning. If you guys keep those eBay parasites in business, you're hurting us all. Ruining the hobby.
I'm not paying $65 for a brand new figure. I would probably pay $65 if it was 20+ years old & out of circulation. Like Classics or vintage. But some of these figures haven't even reached the Walmart release date yet. This is fucking ridiculous! I just bought some Transformers that are easily available for regular retail. The way it's supposed to be. If Mattel & Walmart still want to play the "poor distribution" game in 2026, with all the AI and computer technology that was supposed to make things better, not worse, then fuck'em! These problems have been plaguing the toy collecting hobby since the 90s. They had plenty of time to fix & perfect everything. But they chose not to. They don't care. The toy department not a priority for Walmart. So unless they show up on Mattel Creations like Teela did, I won't be getting certain figures.
RULE #1! If I can get it easily at retail, then I'll buy it. If not, then to hell with it. Just like Origins Thunder-Punch He-Man. My Origins collection will always have that hole in it. When I started Origins my goal was to get a complete collection of the vintage figures. They made that impossible. SCALPERS BE DAMNED! I'm not going to support my enemy. I want the eBay scalpers shut down. I'm not going to feed the bastards.
Aaaand my MV Vintage Mer-man preorder was just cancelled.
These Walmart exclusives are getting ridiculous and very frustrating.
@grayskullguardsman Yup. I stopped pre-ordering from Wally World a long time ago.
I have the movie Origins figures on preorder from Target, but they only have the cosplay sword, He-Man, and Spikor so far... I'm not sure why they haven't put Trap-Jaw up yet. Is he an exclusive?

Mine too. I'm beyond frustrated.
