Well, I'm actually looking forward to the Barbie x MOTU reveal.  And I bought the Monster High Skeletor.  And I like the new artist collaboration He-Man and Skeletor.  So...yeah.

Right on! I think the Barbie collab will be pretty cool, and while I wasn’t interested as much in the Monster High, I think it’s cool that they’re doing it.

Love the James Jean sets and am seriously considering getting one. It’s beyond my price limits, but it is a figure plus a creature, besides being a special edition with insane detail.

While there are several AI generated Masterverse figures circulating the community, it will be ultimately a great disappointment if we never see the Tri-Sorceress and (Uber) He-Man from "Masters of the Universe: Revolution" subline realized in Masterverse plastic. (Thanks to Raúl)

100% Agreed.

I have been waiting for these versions to be announced since the show debuted.

Hell yeah...

That Skullector Monster High figure is fantastic. (The Frankie Stein x Barbie collab is awesome too!)

I hope we see more inter-company collaborations like this!

Well the Vintage MV Teela is already out for delivery, I might have her today, woo!

Of course, that is the figure that was less important to me… 😏.

Gold Skeletor is due in a week… that’ll be the real test.
And Beastie won’t be released till June, I’ll get a cramp crossing my fingers that long!

It’s a new situation that there isn’t all that much new MOTU that is for me. I find myself buying things I might otherwise have skipped (mostly regarding Masterverse). Still looking for that Mer Man 😬 Might even get that MAA just because he’s so rare now!
Meanwhile, Origins Laser He-Man is on his way, of course 😅

I can definitely relate to having experienced that type of situation. More recently, the fact that I have to care about future 200X Mondo figures means that more budget is allocated to the brand. Mattel put irreductible fans in a similar situation years ago (in 2019, when MOTUC was officially in hibernation — yeah, that was the narrative back then!), and now they are taking Masterverse away from us at a pivotal moment: Dragon Blaster Skeletor, King Hsss and The Sorceress (thanks Revelations for that!), and the list goes on... I can't wait for SDCC to happen so we can find out the final answer regarding the fate of this toy line. I'm so done with this manufacturer — really!

Yeah, I am finding myself in a similar situation. Just looking at MOTU announcements lately, nothing get's me excited. Laser Power He-man is still a "maybe", but I don't see him as a must-buy at the moment. There is just something about that extreme smoothness and simplicity of Origins He-man that looks increasingly odd to me.

But maybe it's time for a break from MOTU. If Masterverse is dead (which I am 99% sure it is at this point), I will not start yet another line that is destined to be prematurely cancelled (however we want to define that).

Seriously, how can you restart another 'adult collector' Motu toy line provided by a manufacturer who is making the catalogue shorter and shorter every time? It's as if a large proportion of the vintage-era Motu characters are now resolutely ostracised. I mean, thank you, Mattel, but I've had more than enough frustration with POP, NA and the '87 movie. So, in short, I'm out as long as Mattel is directly involved in the development of future Motu toys! It's as simple as that! Mondo, you have my attention now!

I’m still all in with the “original” Origins releases from Matty Creations, getting both the vintage releases and the new figures, so there’s that… Having fun with those.

For space issues, and maybe because 200X is not my main jam, I’m staying away from 200X Origins mostly. I already got way more Filmation figures than I planned!

Masterverse is of course the weird limbo right now, but honestly because if aforementioned space issues and maybe a slight fatigue, I wouldn’t be insulted if they slowed down, just moving over to Creations. But ending it, that is tough, plenty figures I’d like to see.

So yeah, getting all the MV that are still in the pipeline might be me overcompensating.

But I also hope that Chronicles, if they do take over entirely, will choose their “Classic” releases wisely, (like Scare Glow now)– and their sizes! So that hopefully it’ll fit into my MV collection, complementing and filling some gaps.

What I don’t want for Chronicles is to give us the same 20 characters yet again, (many of which we already have as Movie Chronicles!).

Mondo alas, is just too much $$$, I can’t seem to justify that. Maybe, maybe, if Original Origins ends this year… AND if “Classic” Chronicles will be rare releases… to get a few per year… But I’m not the 200X fanatic anyways.

Haven't been here much to catch all the discussion but, wanted to let folks know I scored a case of Chronicles Scare Glow. Bought all 4 figure. Kept 1 and gave 3 to buddies so we could actually DISCUSS the figure. In my opinion it sucks to have one of the most exciting figures to hit a line in the last 5-6 years and no close friends to discuss it with.

Guys...this IS Masterverse 3.0 (2.0-9 is New Eternia and it's various advances). Scare Glow is the same height as most NE figures. He's slightly taller than a Savage Crucible Lemurian Royal Guard. Holding and posing the figure is a JOY. The articulation glides. It's friction based yet feels very sturdy. It's a new way to approach a "pinless" articulation system.

I absolutely LOVE IT. Holding this figure feels as if I am holding an "Event". A very important launching point that has rethought the MOTU 7" figure. The detail and design approach makes this thing more at home with Mythic Legions and Savage Crucible than even New Eternia. This figure feels like a more "high-end" collectible.

Things of Note:

1. This absolutely IS 7" scale. No matter what they say or how they label the package it will never be "1/12". They have named it thus to ride the scale popularity cycle.

2. The packaging is the exact same as Masterverse. Down to the little plastic tabs that secure the figure to the blister backer.

3. The cape sucks 🙂

I've taken no action pics. Only my shelf find...but, it's contrived because I asked the Walmart guy to pull them out of the back. LOL

@firmpulse Thanks so much for this. Now it remains to be seen how everyone else can get a hold of this thing… without overpaying on the Pirate Bay.

What also remains to be seen which characters they will release, how often, etc

What you say about him is very exciting and also relieving. I am excited to try out the new joints, and check out the sculpting. So glad it fits with MV.

@firmpulse This is really good news!

It sounds like Mattel is really stepping up their game with this new line... I can't wait to see how other 'inaugural' (or whatever they want to call them) classic characters turn out!

On the topic of joints, I feel that one of the best aspects of this new build is the way articulation is implemented... it seems that Mattel is looking at the high-end designer figures for inspiration. Plus, NO THIGH CUTS!! (Thank god.)

These pics suck but I haven’t seen any that actually show his height.

I took these on a gridded cutting board so foot placement is easy to see, used back to back comparisons, and rulers. I used an actual 6” ruler for one pic. Also pic with SG and a Lemurian. That’s important because Savage Crucible is a TRUE 7” scale line. I included images with the ruler butted up against the figure and even cropped some at the exact 7” measurement. The difference is negligible.

I stand by these being the same scale. Scare Glow is not 1/12 scale. Mattel is just riding the Scale Train because the 1/12 label is so popular

If anyone had a specific comparison I’ll try to accommodate.

Ok, I don't get this approach by Mattel. The in-hand reviews of Chronicles He-man pretty clearly show him to be in sclae with other 6" figures and notably shorter than Masterverse. Why in the world would they release a Scare Glow in that same line, but in a different scale...?!

Two theories come to my mind regarding that fact.

Firstly, they were producing a New Eternia Scareglow and then, at the last minute, they decided to use it to build hype around this new line. The theory is reinforced by the fact that the box is also similarly perceived (shape, division, artwork).
Secondly, it was decided that the line should be expanded, with the characters being imitated in the documented approach of Super7 or Mondo, and thus their scale. This doesn't sound like a manufacturer such as Mattel, as they are known for profits being maximised, often to the detriment of their products.

I think that the movie figures in Chronicles are more of a “realistic” version of the same scale. Kind of like Star Wars Classified 1:12 is more true to the actors’ heights and in fact, quite smaller than Marvel Legends etc

Two sides of the same coin (or scale) – one is a more “heroic” oversized version, one is a more realistic version.

Maybe? (Edit: Forgot that we’ve seen that Movie He-Man and Scare Glow are same height.)

Would love to see some more comparisons with random MV evil warriors and heroes. He still does look a little smaller than Tri-Klops, but it seems to work together.

@lasastard Both the movie He-Man and Scare Glow are the same height, it's just that a lot of MV figures including nearly every He-Man use the larger thighs

@onlyoneskeletor the box is the exact same size and build as Masterverse. But if Chron SG was supposed to slot into the MV line was Mattel planning on revamping the articulation scheme for MV? While SG works with MV it “feels” like it’s from an entirely different line.

Like I mentioned…if SG is supposed to be MASSIVE in this new lore then I guess he COULD be in scale with the other figures.

I haven’t seen a video in which the reviewers compares HeMan with other figures. Do you have a link? I’m not asking for “proof” I just haven’t seen a video like that. So would like to check it out

Why not? I mean, such an approach has been used before. Motuc Classics figures at the end of the toy line had slightly improved articulation; Despara is a good example.

Not sure what you mean with Scare Glow being massive…? He is smaller than New Eternia Tri-Klops, right?

He seems to fit into MV NE, but he feels like a slightly shorter character?

And there are some comparisons of Chron He-Man and Scare Glow on this forum… (they looked same height). fairly recently, posted by @admin I believe… maybe in the Chronicles thread?

Well, given how complicated things could get with the Masterverse line — distribution and speculation, for example — and driven by a strong desire to get my hands on these two, I decided to buy Beast Man and Mer-Man, who arrived today. I have absolutely no regrets! Every little detail is there to rekindle the memory of when we first played with these figures as children. In a way, it was like getting a new Masterverse wave, minus one figure. I would unreservedly recommend them to anyone who has been contemplating acquiring these figures.

@onlyoneskeletor Nice! I have Beast Man on preorder from Walmart, but I don’t know where to get Mer Man. He’s gotten rare and pricey on EBay, hard to find… I really want him.

@cosmic: Yup, apart from The Whole Shebang (UK), I've only ever seen him as a pre-order on Toywiz for a short while. It's strange that it's no longer listed there nowadays!

@yen A post on Toy Habits about Beast Man in-hand packaging, with a link redirecting to eBay, was the catalyst. I was infuriated to discover that the seller had once again got hold of my all-time favourite vintage Motu figure.
