probably the worst King Hiss I've ever seen...another thing, even if I decide to get him, Ebay is my only choice, since Muttel does not ship to my country...wack figure plus dealing with the scum on Ebay...beautiful
Another great character done wrong! What were Mattel thinking with this latest offering? King Hiss was a major want for me. A figure I thought Chronicles could absolutely smash. Alas, this abomination! Disappointed 😞
I believe Hiss’ thighs are from Galatzine He-Man, while the lower legs are new and made longer to make him taller (Gal-He-Man is notoriously short). The result are skinny legs that should have been sculpted completely new (but not enough budget 😑)
HOWEVER I think depending on posing, he can look cool.
I have some misgivings but overall, the positives outweigh the negatives and I love the shiny surface and how snakes are sculpted into the green torso.
The snake arms are too thick and I *hate* removable tiny parts such as the tongues here. My figures are not just sitting behind glass! I losE stuff, lol
I also worry the thick arms will losen the biceps joint with time. And I would prefer the even more friendly face of the vintage / Classics head.
No weapons would be a bummer, too.
But I still like both heads enough, I think he’s interesting, if simplified, very flawed, but with cool details.
I like him enough, as a variation of King Hiss.
Chronicles suffers from the same early troubles as Masterverse did back then, despite having more sophistication in the details and construction. Remember all the MV bashing at first? Admittedly, the REV MV at first were not that great. Movie Chronicles are much better.Also I think he looks pretty good but he’s getting a ridiculous amount of hate on Reddit
With Hiss, apparently they are forced to re-use some less than fitting movie-parts, and simplify in order to not make him even more pricey.
There is a second wave of the “Mighty Masters” in drug stores etc in Europe, while I can’t see anything here, not even on EBay.
The new wave includes the two Battle Armor figures and Fisto and … was it Mer Man?
I ordered King Hiss at Creations today… almost forgot lol. Not too concerned that he’d sell out, but I did want to get him shipped sooner rather than later, in case they have a smaller quantity on hand.
I know he’s less than perfect, but I’m lucky to have the Origins and Classics releases, so I’m ok with a different kind of approach.
I just hope they retire any ill-fitting movie parts rather sooner than later, too.

Just saw the first second-wave figure on EBay (ugh), Battle Armor He-Man, and of course the listing is from Germany 😏 🇩🇪!
The detailing is great... but I feel the overall, finished design did not coalesce like they intended...

I’m just crazy. I think they are both nice backdrops for small spaces… and the Snake Mountain is kinda unique.
I want to use it / them with my movie Origins.

There are figures you can be ok if they are smaller or bigger, (the ladies, Beast Man,… now Trap-Jaw), and sort of fudge the scale. But that is just… unfudgeable.
I do have a few (=3) of the Movie Chronicles, plus Battle Cat… I guess I am building a (much smaller) new series in a new scale, IF I like the design or I don’t have the character otherwise…
But I skipped King Grayskull and will keep on skipping if I don’t like it.
With the movie stuff, I’ve been more into Core and Origins, or rather, I have a fun mix of all three lines.
Ah, who would have thunk that the re-acquisition of the DC brand would screw us that much. But then, Mattel likes to re-start lines and tries to get us to buy the 20 main characters as many times as possible.

@onlyoneskeletor I’m guessing they have a lot of left over stock they want to get rid of. A lot of them have been on their site for months even over a year(moss man).
@onlyoneskeletor The Point has always been for Mattel to have a way to gage interest and know how many are really going to buy, as well as getting market feedback through their members-only forums. 😏 To me, it’s always been more benefit for Mattel than for us. They even earn a few bucks!
Well, for us I guess the benefit is getting the things as early as possible. And being guaranteed to get it.
Obviously, for a product to be profitable, you don’t have to sell the entire production run. Any price reductions are also factored into the original price.
Mattel is figuring this out as they go, like everyone… so offloading a bunch of stock can make sense in this current situation.
However, yes it all doesn’t look so urgent anymore for those who want to save some $$, or are not in such a rush. The FOMO will cool off…
I guess for me it’s the thought that I don’t want to risk that suddenly, production runs will change, distribution policies will change… I kind of like how relaxed it’s gotten to get Origins.
We all know how it is with the last stretch of Masterverse…
Surprisingly, without announcement, I got my Chronicles King Hiss today.
He’s cool, honestly none of the criticisms are ruining the figure when in hand. Particularly the upper body is really neat, with the shiny surface and the snakes sculpted into the muscles.
The joints move very smoothly, the articulation is really impressive again.
What is jarring right away though, is the lack of weapons. Like, that’s the first thing I do with a figure, I put the weapon(s) in their hands.
Haven’t used the snake parts yet and I’m sure that’ll be fun. But a MOTU figure without weapons is just weird. I don’t need the tiny removable tongues.
Have not put him next to a Masterverse figure. Don’t want to ruin my first impression (yet) lol

This weekend I'm at Dallas Fan Expo and get probably an absolute steal of a deal. Among a MOTU section in one of the toy vendors, they had brand new 200x CC and Chronicles figures and even some original 200X figures MIB, $25 each for all of them and two of them for $40. Got a Chronicles Tri-Klops ($27 at normal retail) and 200X CC Roboto ($25 at normal retail) both for just $40.
Today I got to meet Brian Drummond, voice of Stinkor and Tuvar in 200x, also OG English Vegeta who uttered the iconic "Over 9000!" line.
3rd MOTU VA I've met at cons. Other two being Grey DeLisle (Evil-Lyn in the 2021 show and Despara in Revolution) and Roger Craig Smith (Trap Jaw in the 2021 show). Funny story, when I met Grey last year I talked about her role of Despara (Even got her to sign my Mattel Creations Despara cardback) not knowing that she also voiced Lyn in a different MOTU show.
A lot of great high profile guests were set to attend but a number cancelled a while in advance, including Dolph Lundgren and Melandy Britt. Was a bit disappointed but the bright side is in these situations when a planned con guest cancels is that you can use the money you anticipated to spend meeting them elsewhere around the floor.

I actually found a pretty decent v1 Teela, but you're right, v2 Teela is so much better!
And in my mind, translucent Skeletor is hologram Skeletor. 😊
