Movie He-Man and Skeletor

Mattel Creations Chronicles 2pack pictures:

Are these the exact same figures as the separate releases? Is this b/c Skeletor is a bit harder to get now?
aNot really sure about the point here…

Skeletor’s head looks yellower. And his Havok Staff is all purple. He-man looks very similar to standard release. Maybe different hair wash?

Not different enough from the standard releases but slightly different enough not to be movie accurate.

An odd set for sure…

The small changes make Skeletor a bit more classic toy design-y.

In the MC email it talks about soft goods but then the photo looks like a plastic cape again. Maybe this text has artifacts of earlier design ideas (that were too pricey).

But so, this set is really targeted at… I dunno… casuals who don’t have any Chronicles yet? Enticing Origins (or Core) collectors to get at least one Chronicles item, as nice collectors item? The price is great btw ($50 for the 2)

Yep... it looks like the weapons are colored differently.

Hopefully, He-Man doesn't have the torso gap any longer.

I already have these two as stand alone figures, so I'm passing until I hear something that makes me want to rebuy them.

Assuming this will hit the US Creations page soon... what the heck are they even doing over there in Mattel-land?

These height “charts” / comparisons have ALL been wrong. Like every single one. SMH

US link for Chronicles Orko: Masters of the Universe Chronicles Orko Action Figure | Mattel Creations

Thanks for the heads-up!

Yes, I'm a sucker for these things... I went ahead and preordered Orko. Even though I prefer the Origins movie figures, I think this version of Orko looks pretty cool and will work well with my Origins display - considering the measurements.

His design is kind of a mix between Filmation and MYP...

Or can we all now speak freely? 😉

At this point I'd be disappointed if the height comparison was correct 🤣

I'm in on Orko, who can say no to blinking eyes?? Not I...

@johnnyotool Agreed. Battle Cat is probably my favorite movie figure in the chronicles line so far!

I just had to order this Death Kitty Helmet Set - Painted – Dean Tolliver Studios [they've also got an unpainted set or even just the digital model files]

This looks way better than anything I could do and also solves the helmet falling off problem

I haven’t looked closely at the news, but in general I think it’s good internet etiquette not to use spoilers, particularly in a non-movie thread.

There are people who are physically unable to go to a theatre, or can’t afford it… have to wait for the digital release.

But even then, I find it pleasant that certain things, even from older movies, are not being thrown around in big letters online.

I mean, it’s Mattel’s prerogative to make more money by releasing this and stuff, I guess they have to do it while things are still fresh.

I feel there are different ways to do it though, I read the Toys News International article and there it was in the first sentence.

You guys do what you do, just my view of it.

That is amazing!

I usually display all my Battle-Cats without helmets (except for Origins and Mondo), but with this aftermarket kit, I would easily have him in full armor!

...it looks like the color matches up really well too!

@cosmic Yeah, Mattel definitely wants to strike while the iron is hot... it's just that Orko was a huge (and very happy) surprise for me when I saw the movie the first time (having avoided all spoiler-heavy websites leading up to the premier) and I don't want that feeling taken away from folks who haven't seen it yet.

However, I understand Mattel's position... and, after seeing Orko, it makes me wonder if they have another figure in the works. 🤔

It feels a bit like a post-movie hangover on here, it’s been so quiet… 😏

We had an overkill of news, new toys, and movie news,… I guess everyone needs a break.

The cool thing is that without me paying attention, SDCC is already around the corner, and we know *nothing*!
It should be really fun to see what’s next.

More 200X Origins, more movie figures, and one or two Chronicles follow-ups to Scare Glow?

Or will they actually show us what’s NEXT? (Presumably non-movie Chronicles? 87-movie Origins??)

@cosmic I apologize for the jest, I was not intending to start blabbing spoilers. I saw 'toy' and went 'toy thread' - I'll do better.

I'm excited about Mondo's SDCC 1/6 flocked Panthor, and was suitably frustrated that Mattel showed SDCC exclusives for everything but MOTU.

My predictions for monthly figures and next waves have all been so completely wrong that I'm happy to just see what they're bringing for Chronicles. With fingers crossed for a movie Sorceress 😀

It’s all cool, thank you. I cannot wait for the digital release to finally see it. Been trying to avoid articles because, even with good intentions, things slip out. In a way, I am right now in that happy anticipation towards the release, the way all of you were waiting for the theatre release. But then, I don’t want to avoid ALL the forums and online MOTU presence 😃

Ok back to toys!

Yes, I’m looking forward to SDCC, as a non-Mondo, there’s so far NOTHING I know about my range of MOTU. Usually, I am waiting for San Diego for months, this time, there was so much going on, I wasn’t even thinking of it, and now it’s almost here!

I wonder how the movie's performance will affect Mattel's SDCC plans... if at all?

I would be over-the-moon to see MOTU '87 characters show up in Origins! As I stated somewhere else on these forums, that is something I have waited four decades to see! (Sorry Blade, Saurod, and Gwildor... the kid in me has wanted MAA, Teela, Evil-Lyn, Beastman, Skeletor and He-Man since August of 1987!)

Another dream of mine would be for Mattel to announce New Adventures figures showing up in the next iteration of Cartoon Collection Origins...

However, I would assume more Chronicles news is in the pipeline... and, if the gods are good, a movie Origins Evil-Lyn, Fisto, and Mekaneck.

@ornclown I am just thinking 87-movie Origins because of the anniversary next year? Could be a follow-up to the 200X-Origins??

They could also be a special, extra branch of the line, just like the current movie Origins, in stores alongside 200X or whatever else going on. (Or, if all else fails, as Creations Exclusive)

By that logic though, we’d have to wait for New Adventures Origins until their anniversary in… 2031 😬 Ugh that’s too long!
I definitely would love to see them made. I feel very connected to NA, the show came on when I was just at the right age. It looked more modern (that dynamic intro!) and slightly older than Filmation, which at the time felt “for babies” for me lol. (I’ve long since came to love it, too ofc).

Has anyone filled in the latest survey about future Chronicles figures provided by Mattel Creations? It was quite fun to do for a final one, since my subscriptions will not be renewed for a matter of derivative tastes between Mattel and myself (lol). But anyway, no more digression. Here are both questions and personal answers:

1. Which Masters of the Universe character(s) would you most like to see added to the Chronicles line?

Answer: King Hsss, Lady Slither, Tung Lashor, Snake Face, Rattlor, Extendar, Rio Blast, Sorceress, War Wraith, Horokoth, Evil-Lyn, Sir Laser Lot, Vypor, Skeleteen, Mask of Power Demons, Vintage Catra, Butthead, Hoove, Lizzor, Dragon Blaster Skeletor, Hurricane Hordak.

2. How important are interchangeable heads and hands when deciding whether to purchase a figure?

Answer: Very important

3. If adding swappable armour or battle-damage pieces meant fewer interchangeable heads and hands, would you support that trade-off? (Required.)

Answer: It depends on the characters.

So, let's get back on track for a minute, shall we? I don't know about you guys, but it feels like there's a wind of change blowing through Mattel, pushing them to explore more options for their adult collector market. Something even more immersive. Time will tell, but this has reignited my interest in this product line, despite the fact that I haven't bought anything from it yet.

I wouldn't mind if the 1987 Movie characters were a part of the standard Origins waves. They could be mixed in with the missing Blade, Saurod, and Gwildor from the vintage line...

This wouldn't inhibit the CC collection either because the CC and standard waves have been releasing concurrently as it is.

I also have a strong connection to New Adventures. I was in middle school at the time and my older brother and I were really getting into Japanese Animation (called Japanimation at the time) because he ordered a bunch of movies through Heavy Metal Magazine (Fist of the North Star, Vampire Hunter D, Venus Wars, etc.) that blew our minds.

New Adventures of He-Man debuted on television and, because it was animated by Jetlag, a Japanese / Korean animation studio, it immediately grabbed my attention. Not only did it look like the Japanimation movies my brother had, it was also HE-MAN!!

I've been hooked ever since... and I even loved the wonky figures back in the day. They paired really well with my Visionaries, Captain Power, and Super Naturals figures.
