OUR REVIEW:
Skeletor is upset that the circus has refused to perform at Snake Mountain so he decides to exact his revenge (yes, you read that right.) Skeletor is this bizarre tale's only saving grace in an episode that feels like it was written while intoxicated (and possibly that is the correct way to enjoy it.) At a drinking party it's a 10, but while sober... (1/10)

Tomorrow’s Episode is: “Not So Blind”

This is the only episode I hate and I hate it with every fiber of my being.
@caliban
So, I thought yesterday’s episode (The Hunt for He-man) really displayed much of what is entertaining about this show. This one does the opposite! I have decided that while watching I am going to imagine that Crackers is actual Anti-Eternia He-man (like in the He-man and the Masters of the Multiverse) and he is just buying his time until he later reveals himself! 🙂
This episode is extremely silly and not the best but I still like it. The lesson that Orko learns is a good one. Anything good in life requires hard work. There are no shortcuts.
ROFL!!!!!!
Number 100! Yeah baby! This episode…..is not that good.
But one thing I do love about it is Skeletor at probably his most cartoonish villain level ever and I mean that in the best way. He personally wanted a whole circus for himself and fights for it, then gets shot out of a cannon Looney Tunes-style at the end.
These are the type of things Skel will never be depicted as in the franchise again because modern MOTU media, whether for kids or older fans will always treat him as a serious threat, which is great, they should never treat him as a joke again, but that honestly makes Filmation Skeletor all the more special and always unique compared to the others.
He’s like Megatron and Shredder (the latter in the Turtles cartoons at least) where they do stuff evil in a comedic way just ‘cuz they feel like it for a basic goal but over time with a lot more media and a lot more character depth through different incarnations, they’re always seen now as serious threats.
With an influx of more MOTU media media coming in the future depending on the movie’s success, the same will happen to Skeletor and arguably already has since 2002, though this time more in the public conscious’ eyes, who have just seen funny memes of him for years.
@slycooperastroboy51 1000% fully agree with your assessment- I can’t imagine Revelation Skeletor burning Moss-Man to death then throwing a temper tantrum when Crackers the Clown won’t bring the circus to Snake Mountain 😀
This show, along with Revelation and Revolution are my favorite parts of MOTU, especially since the latter two are “spiritual” sequels to the original. I know people have different interpretations of that, but I love it, especially when rewatching the original.
So episodes like this one always makes me wonder (in a fun way) if some episodes don’t count or they’re interpreted vastly differently, because I cant reconcile murderous Revelation with the Skeletor that wants the circus to come to Snake Mountain and get tossed around by He-Man on the trapeze.
So that said, I’d empty my savings to a fundraiser if we could have PowerHouse remake episodes like this one, The Starchild, Monster on the Mountain, etc…
Must’ve been confusing when Revelation came out because wasn’t it marketed pre-release like it was an actual real sequel to Filmation like “After 35 years, he returns!", that sort of schtick? Yet it obviously looks nothing like it visually and tonally? I mean yeah, this was always meant to be a more serious, semi-adult toned show with nostalgic characters, but I’m sure some fans assumed going into the show that it was one until several inconsistencies arose showing it more as a “parallel continuity" as I would call it.
1 star. This episode is the reason why people remember this show as being so corny.
That being said there is a perverse charm about skeletor being so petty, and the orko lesson is great for the kids.
But why does orko want to be on the trapeze when he can fly?
