I just got back. Uh...yeah...wow. 

I freaking loved it! I've got 6 tickets for Saturday but I'm really tempted to get a IMAX ticket before then...

Y'all better tell your friends and family to see this cause I'm gonna need those sequels to pay off those credit stingers FAST!

Just got back as well. I intentionally lowered my expectations and went in with as open a mind as I could. 

Wow.  I sincerely loved it! It wasn't perfect, and I know it won't make everybody happy. But I give it a solid 8.5/10. 

Things I especially loved: Teela. I thought they nailed her character. Evil Lyn as well, although she didn't have as much time as Teela. I thought Galatzine pulled off Adam and especially He-Man extremely well. Better than I expected. The score was this incredible Flash Gordon-esque (makes sense with May on guitar) perfect fit for the vibe. I also loved the nods to MOTU fans--both those we'd seen in trailers and those that were not seen before. Just enough to wink/nod at us without compromising the story. And the story was really well done. You could tell they put love and genuine thought into it. Leto is polarizing, but I felt he did a great job as Skeletor. 

I did feel they could have trimmed 15 or so minutes from the film and made it a bit leaner. Some scenes seemed to go on a bit too long or weren't essential to the story. The humor--while not veering into Thor Love & Thunder territory--didn't always land. It was on par with Ragnarok or GoG. I didn't mind it, and some may enjoy it more. But even if you don't, I don't see it ruining the film for you.  

They took an IP that could have been played safely. Make money, don't take risks, and cash in. But they took some swings. Most of them connected for me. 

I will go see it again. I will buy a physical copy of it when available. I hope they are able to continue the story beyond just this film. I felt like a kid for a couple hours in the theater, and that was freaking awesome. I hope most if not all of you enjoy it as much as I did or more. After ALL these years, ALL these possible films that fell through, we FINALLY have a new He-Man film. And to me, it was well worth the wait.

Still hate Chilly Tee, hes a gross goof.

But we did enjoy it. Lots of fun. Going again Saturday.  That fucking Teela outfit at the end 😍 

Nobody's talking about the elephant in the room, freaking SHE-RA??? I did not expect that. Wow. 

@durendal HUGE surprise! I couldn't make out who played her though and missed it in the credits. I missed Mer-Man too but that's because I was in disbelief at seeing Orko and getting the PSA message. 🤣 

"Look! I turned him into mulch!". I was dying 😆 Leto was so freaking good as Skeletor and I was dying at his ID badge as the Office Space manager.

I'm gonna let my thoughts marinate for a bit before I share them here. There's a lot to unpack and it's best to not impulsively react in the immediate afterglow of a film when the endorphins are still firing.

Before I leave this thread until I watch the movie, (which I'm only in this thread because somebody spoiled the movie for me and I looked it up due to my excitement getting the best of me) can somebody tell me any songs that were featured in the movie? I know "The Man" "What's Up?" and "Princess of the Universe" are in the movie, are there any other Queen songs? And just what songs by anyone are in the movie? Those are the only spoilers I want to know.

@kinggrayskull09 I remember Boys Don’t Cry by The Cure and The Power by Snap. If there were others, I don't recall. No other Queen songs, I'm pretty sure of that.

Okay, I just got back from the movie gonna ramble on here

I love being in this fandom and glad I've been in it for more than a year this blockbuster was probably unlike anything I've seen (yeah James Gunn-esqe tone here and there, but I mean the whole movie).

A film adaptation that wears it's source material with pride, not afraid to push out the campiness or make all of Eternia look dark, bleak and dull like another studio would do. It's the best thing this franchise could've gotten for a film adaptation bless you Travis Knight, may see it three more times and recommend it to anyone I can because we cannot have it be another Transformers One situation.

Was kinda disappointed that Orko only showed up at the very end. I was hoping he was intentionally hidden from the marketing then he shows up as a surprise in the 3rd act to somehow assist in the climax, like Adam and Co. freeing him from Snake Mountain.

If he was more prominent in the movie, I think John Mulaney would've been the PERFECT voice cast, anyone agree? Looked it up and was surprised to find that he's voiced by a VA named Christopher Ragland, who voices a character in another big Mattel franchise that was my childhood religion. (Percy the Small Engine from Thomas)

Also has Travis Knight made any statements on why Mer Man isn't in the movie? What I'm honestly assuming is that the film already has enough expensive VFX and they didn't feel like having more budget for a possibly CG heavy character with water powers.

Skeletor was great. I expected them to bring up Keldor considering Jared Leto look like him, which I'm guessing was a reason why they unfortunately casted him. Maybe they planned to show the Kedor backstory in production then decide against it. but seperating the art from the artist, he was fun in the role and I love how this movie rather doesn't go into backstory like every other villain these days. Those moments particularly in his and Adam's last fight (you know the ones), really leaned into modern pop culture's view of Skel as a meme character and I love it.

He's very evil here just 'cuz.

I felt like choices of characters that had prominence were weird. Dian? From a very obscure newspaper story from 40 years ago? Goat Man, he gets some prominence?

Not that I mind that these deep cut characters get some time to shine, It's a real sign how much the filmmakers love this franchise, but the choices and the amount of screentime they're given, I still feel were odd because these two are real MOTU Glup Shittos, especially Dian

When Moss Man was killed I low-key expected him to show up alive later in the movie since he can manipulate plants. I don't know if that can extend to him cheating death, maybe, maybe not?

SHE-RA AND HORDAK LETS F*CKING GO! I NEED IT NOW!

Hordak sequel fan cast: Ben Mendelsohn. Can anyone else see the vision?

She has no Wikipedia article so I'm honestly expecting them to get a bigger name to play her later down the road for the potential sequel. They just needed someone to play her in this credits scene.

Also I'm likely wrong, couldn't tell from the lighting of the shot, but was the guy that comes up to her Bow?

@slycooperastroboy51 That would be awesome!! Also, Travis Knight has said that he has an actress in mind, but he hasn't asked her yet. But also that the studio is on board to making sequels. Because I believe that even if this bombs, it will be a success on streaming. And then they can just make movies and put them on Amazon of they won't make money in theaters.

@dgsimo say what? Okay I looked at it and wonder why out of all places to put him in the movie, why there where he's just in the background after the story is over? Was it some sort of joke/apology from the filmmakers saying "hey we wanted Mer Man in, but VFX budget but we still put him in the movie."

You think in a sequel they'll be like "Somehow Trap Jaw returned"?

I mean kinda surprised that they would kill off Skeletor's most 2nd most prominent and iconic minion (at least to casual Gen Xers I guess?) aside behind Evil-Lyn. But his fights with Duncan and the rematch were badass. That death he had though looks inescapable.

As for villains I want to see in sequels: Mer Man (probably already guaranteed), Clawful, Whiplash, Stinkor and Faker

As for Horde inclusion: All I personally want is Entrapta and Scorpia if they balance Filmation and 2018 in terms of She-Ra representation

This movie had Mekanek, now I think future films can really go into the weird and absurd side of Eternia in terms of settings and characters

Why do y'all think they reduced Orko to just an ending cameo? You think they thought if he was in the marketing, it would've turned certain people off with the type of character he is in this really action packed and half-serious movie?

I got home not too long ago from making a trek of almost 2 hours each way to see it. Not because it wasn't playing closer to home but because I went to see it with my dad. He was the one that put together Castle Grayskull for me when I was a wee lad. I got spoiled with the toy tin popcorn bucket with the lenticular He-Man & Skeletor on it, as well as the He-Man cup. 

Teela was freaking amazing, her attitude came through perfectly. I loved how she looked in that 6 month later outfit. I knew Camila could deliver attitude from her Veronica portrayal on Riverdale. 

Evil-Lyn could have used a bit more screen time being bad, but she was so spot on. I love how she played up to Skeletor and his goofy monologues. Alison has that naughty dark side down good. 

WHY DOES MOSS-MAN KEEP DYING?? Which Mattel exec has it out for the pine smelling warrior? I swear if they kill him off in any more media I will revolt. 

I love how they addressed the silly names of the characters, Adam thinking of them that way as a kid. 

Fisto doing a hair toss in Princess of the Universe, which made me tear up when it came on. Of course they would be able to use it with Brian May on guitar for the soundtrack. Two Highlander references in this movie. 

A drunkard Man-At-Arms was not what I was expecting, but man did Idris play it good. I was good with the gender swap Roboto to play off when Teela was with Adam/He-Man.

Skeletor had a few moments of classic Alan Skeletor with a laugh and calling He-Man a boob. The Shakespearean tone he had was good cause you kinda forgot it was Leto. I do love the red glow they gave the eyes and full floating skull face. Skeletor in a suit is not a figure I thought I'd need but well here we are.

Adam / He-Man. Nicholas wow ok dude where did you get that charm, and confidence. I was not expecting all we got from him. The fact we see a grown up Adam on a date with a character named Julie telling her about Eternia was golden. Mixing in young Adam with his story was the perfect way to show it. The adult Adam gets toppled by the Torak statue was a good chuckle. The store clerk girl asking if he's single as he bolts from the Fright Zone was another chuckle. His meeting with Dolph in the gym ending with "good journey" was a a great passing of the torch. The first time he transforms was as powerful as I hoped it would be. The second transformation though damn. They went with the whole Adam is the vessel for the Power and the Power Sword just helps him unlock it. The way it breaks and reforges as Adam calls down the power to stop Skeletor in Grayskull was jaw dropping. the way it inspired the hero's outside to fight on giving them hope again. How he tries to talk to Skeletor before whooping his ass with what I am assuming was the Thunder Punch finisher move was chef's kiss. 

We got to see both sides of Randor, the father that treated his younger son harshly, and get to see his son as the hero before he passes was a nod to Revelation & Revolution. 

Orko doing the PSA is the only one that can break the 4th wall like that. Well Kowl, and Lookee, if we get them in a squeal

Marlena being the one to suggest sending Adam to her home Earth was a good nod to her Filmation origin. The mid credit with the drop of Adora gave me goose bumps.

Then we get She-Ra, and the Sword of Protection glowing jewel and all. 

The Sorceress is another character I wish we got a bit more screen time with. I do like we got a lot of Zoar voice over by Morena. The costume did have a darker orange and blue on the wings which was nice to see. I do wish we would have seen her use other magic near the end. 

Cringer was big. I really do like they kept him in the MGM logo roaring. His complaining he needed amour was a good tease cause we only got a peek at it. When he had Beast Mans head in his mouth was priceless. 

Trap Jaw, Ram Man, Mekaneck, Goat Man, Spikor, Beast Man, Dian, Tri-Klops, Karg, and even Pigboy were amazing looking and acted well. 

I am really tempted to go see it again this weekend. If I get the time I might.

Did the whole scene between Adam and his mom talking as adults get cut? Re: "Why did you send me away?" I kept waiting for that conversation, but it never appeared. 

Otherwise, I loved the movie! Catching it on IMAX tonight! The length... The movie was not long enough!! 😎

I missed that line too but I guess it was cut to tighten the movie up. We as an audience already know why so it doesn't need to be explained. That's my guess.

I absolutely loved the inclusion of She-Ra in the post-credit scene and the dialogue between Queen Marlena and Man-At-Arms about hopefully her coming back to them, I am desperately hoping for a Princess Of Power movie or some POP characters coming into a MOTU sequel. I love how the Fright Zone looked so much like the version from the classic animated series. 😀 

Saw it! Loved it! Had a smile on my face from start to finish! Thank you Travis Knight! 

Overall, a really fun, action-packed, summer popcorn flick.

However, for the long-time MOTU fan, there is plenty here to digest, pick apart, and critique...

My initial thoughts on Masters of the Universe 2026:

Areas that Glow:

• Set designs, costumes, and machinery are all very cool. Although I don't like Castle Grayskull being so close to Eternos, there is no denying how awesome the giant statues, bridges, and gold-domed buildings look during aerial shots. The forest scene stands out to me as well... I love the use of warm reds and oranges throughout the entire area.
• The almost countless nods to the Filmation series. From Adam's pink outfit, to He-Man's diplomatic response to Skeletor, to the circle of laughter at the end of the movie - this hit all the right notes for me.
• Dolph Lundgren wishes Adam a "Good Journey!"
• The fight choreography. The fights were BRUTAL. And I loved the way they used things like Spikor's spikes to keep him stuck in the ceiling, or Trap-Jaw's blaster arm to lay waste to a bunch of guards. But, the "I was holding my punches" scene is downright savage!
• Cringer... I absolutely LOVE Cringer / Battle Cat, and this movie finally gives me the live-action version I've always wanted to see! He is so cute as a kitten and I am so glad they kept his cowardice intact at the end! (I just wish there was more of him!!)
• Adam and Teela's chemistry. This is played out very well... a mixture of MYP and Filmation. 
• The Beast Man chase scene! This is how I imagine Beast Man going after a target. And what's more, he isn't simply some dimwitted dolt, he actually has voiced lines! 
• Skeletor's costume / face... dang! His skull looks SO GOOD! I can't believe how well they pulled off his unique combination of blue muscle bod and skull for a head. (I just wish it were more yellow in color.) His Havoc Staff looks rad too!
• Ram Man's "spring" legs look so good!
• Zoar is freaking awesome in this movie!
• Orko! Orko! Orko!!!
• Although they looked a teeny bit uncomfortable, it is nice to see the characters in costumes that look closer to their original toys at the end!
• Snake Mountain looks BADASS!!
• The music is absolutely thumping! Seriously, the soundtrack for this film is a standout highlight for me. I found myself tapping my foot so many times during the show. I really like the music in this movie!

Areas to Grow:

• The pacing in the movie feels a bit bombastic. The beginning flows so well, then we get a bit of a halt, then it picks up again, then slows a bit, etc. It doesn't feel like a true three-act script.
• I don't like how they treated Duncan's character. I never thought of him as a drunkard, and I still don't. I think that aspect should have been left on the cutting room floor.
• I also don't like how they did Moss Man dirty! C'mon, really??
• Evil-Lyn should have more screen time. Her character isn't fully realized as an opportunistic, plotting, back-stabber. Meg Foster is still my preferred live-action version.
• The Sword of Power should not have shattered. I understand why they did it, and it works out in the end... but it is something I personally don't like. (And it takes away from the penultimate episode, "The Problem with Power" of the classic series.) 
• I'm not sure if this is considered an area to grow, but the tone of the movie feels a bit scattered. It jumps from a humorous scene right into one that has a much more intense feel then back to an inconsequential one.
• Also, I'm not keen on how they made fun of the characters' names throughout the movie. Do they sound silly to the average adult ear? Yes. But that is all just part of MOTU's charm.
• We (I) need MORE Sorceress!!! She is way underutilized!

For the Future:

I believe in the sequel, He-Man will be a much more confident and stoic hero. We will see more Battle Cat and I believe Orko will become a main character.

She-Ra will be referenced, but I don't think they're ready to go that route just yet. (Methinks Amazon is pushing for a She-Ra streaming series set in the MOTU 2026 universe.)

Evil-Lyn will play a bigger role.

Castle Grayskull will become a more important part of the story.

And (this is more of a personal wish), Gwildor comes back as a character in the next movie.
