@kinggrayskull09 Where did you hear this??
>>>The Power of the Good and the Way of the Magic!<<<
Nice! I saw not one, but TWO ThunderCats projects in the works!
Apparently, there is an animated theatrical movie actively being developed right now, along with live-action project slated for the near future with Adam Wingard (of Godzilla vs. Kong fame) attached...
This is exciting!

MOTU and DW are my two favourites too....was never a big Thundercats fan, but I recently started watching the 2011 series and am quite enjoying it.@ornclown as I've mentioned before, other than He-Man and Doctor Who, Thundercats is my favorite thing ever, I've currently read through nearly all the dynamite comics. I'm so excited for a movie
My wife and I are about to head off for our 7th and (probably) final theatre viewing.
@froginsox Yet another testament to just how supportive our community truly is, hands down!

Seven? Nice!!
I have seen it a total of four times on varying types of screens... I'm thinking I'll go see it one more time in the theater sometime after I see Supergirl.

@ornclown You’ll need to make up for the mainstream audience’s lack of interest, compounded by Amazon’s restrictive policy and the exclusion of theaters in France.
I'm still baffled by the decision not to allow MOTU '26 in French theaters!

I’ve finally could see it, on the first day of streaming and I had a blast and was mesmerized the whole time 🤩
I’ve also been following San Diego Comic Con with all its toy reveals, and something struck me with all the Avengers hoopla:
Avengers Doomsday, is it just me or are they totally following Mattel’s playbook with their merch ??
Multiple kids toy lines (probably low price point), play props like multiple Doom masks, Thor hammers, and many, many Dr Doom figures. He’s the Skeletor of Avengers.
I don’t really recall such merch attacks before MOTU?? Maybe Star Wars had it but I didn’t pay attention.
Also interesting that, Doomsday might be quite a serious movie with the heroes getting a beatdown and even the universe destroyed?? (Going by the comics) Funny contrast to all the playful toys.
We’ll see…
So something interesting I found when first watching the movie on streaming yesterday are Zelda, Kirby and Splatoon posters in a few shots when Adam is in the Fright Zone shop. Literally means nothing I thought as a Nintendo fan I just thought I'd point that out.
Also X-Men memorabilia and a Superman comic in the store in certain shots.
I have no idea how these outside company IP reference movie props work. I mean do they have to get permission from the IP owners even though it's just set dressing that characters don't acknowledge? Because Marvel, DC and Nintendo aren't in the credits I'm assuming. And I'm not just talking about this movie.
The movie on DVD is doing pretty well already
#1 in sales chart, category “Movies & TV”–and it doesn’t even come out till Oct 20 !
Like AJ reports on the front page, Mattel reports that the movie has caused MOTU sales to triple this year, if I understand it properly.
It’s also been doing well on streaming, plus Amazon just likes having it in their library to cover a certain segment of the audience, and to have their own big sci-fi / superhero-ish franchise.
Some consolation for the weak box office. Thankfully, with Amazon, they don’t mind making high profile movies that don’t make much at the box office 😅
I always suspected that for Mattel, it’s a disguised toy commercial.
Just would have been nice to have more success immediately.
@cosmic it’s funny if you go back when the movie chronicles were announced I bashed them to hell. Saw the movie then bought them haha. I wonder how many ppl did the same
It’s fun to go with the excitement and follow that impulse to get the figures, after enjoying the film!@cosmic it’s funny if you go back when the movie chronicles were announced I bashed them to hell. Saw the movie then bought them haha. I wonder how many ppl did the same
I just got Chronicles Battle Cat, what a cool beast! Movie Chronicles figure number 4 for me… here we go.
I do have lots more from Core and Origins, several of them bought before I saw the film, just from excitement… and when I really liked a design.
I try not to have too many “doubles” and enjoy having my favorite sculpt of the particular character– be it Origins, Chronicles or Core.
But He-Man already sits here in all 3 versions lol
Okay real talk, random fancast for the potential sequel if it happens:
Alan Tudyk as Man-E-Faces
He's more notable as a voice actor, but has done a good amount of Live-action work like I Robot (he's voiced a ton of robots) and a minor role in Transformers Dark of the Moon (ironic because 11 years later he would be cast as Optimus). Never watched Firefly but he was a main cast member in that.
Since 2012 he's been the main Disney animation studio's equivalent to what John Ratzenburger used to be for Pixar in which he would do a voice in every one of their movies. King Candy in Wreck-it-Ralph. Duke of Weselton in Frozen. Duke Weaselton in Zootopia (yeah in-joke inversion) the damn chicken in Moana.
Other voices include K2S0 in Star Wars Rouge One, aforementioned Optimus in Transformers Earthspark, Joker and Clayface in the Harley Quinn show, One of the Superman robots in the recent James Gunn film and a minor role in the 2009 Astro Boy movie that both ruined the animation studio and the IP's integrity.
Just with his range and Man-E's whole personality of being an actor with many sides I feel like this casting would be a no brainer.
Steaming works better with certain movies I guess
