We have the Power!
This episode really needs more meat on it. Negator feels like an afterthought to boost the threat, but all he really does is enhance the pranks and show up for a 90 second attack. Additional Trollans showing up usually is not a good sign for an episode.
That said, I really like when J Michael writes, I put him up with Paul Dini and Larry Ditillo. Battlecat is written really well/funny in this episode, he’s at his best when he’s making jokes and taking shots at Orko. I also like just the main 5 heroes on an adventure together without anyone else, feels like there’s always a guest star with them or a smaller combination of the 5, so it’s nice to see them interact together.
Somewhat like this one. It's the stock cartoon plot of "quirky magic character is let loose and makes crazy stuff happen that are whatever the writers can think of."
Prankster was J. Michael Straczynski's way to show us Orko's face without showing Orko's face. This episode didn't appeal to me at all, but I still appreciate that.
2 stars. Script is good but plot is way too thin, negator terribly boring as is the cast. Prankster is fun and well animated but not used to his full potential.
