We have the Power!
This is one of my all time favorite episodes. Everytime you see an astronaut in this cartoon you know the episode is going to be great.
Great episode. Love the earth connection, love that we get Spikor and Two-Bad with decent sized roles. I also really love the shot of He-Man in front of earth, glad we got that before the series wraps up.
I really enjoy the 200X series, but I thought it lacked two major items that helps make MOTU what it is: 1. Cringer and Battlecat speaking; 2. The earth connection. Having He-Man be half-earthling and that general connection just makes this world so much cooler. In the 80's it was a way for us to make a connection to this planet that's galaxies away, and hopefully new fans will enjoy that the movie is picking up this thread.
This is a good one. The whole Armageddon subplot really makes it special.
Good episode, but I feel like what would've made it better is if the astronauts were personal friends of Marlena from her former life on Earth. Would've made things a little more intreating.
I find He-Man's reaction to seeing Earth intriguing considering the literal feature film about to come out that's set on Earth for hopefully only the first 20-30 minutes. I wonder with all the deep cuts the movie will have, that the names "Mark" or "Andria" in a specific context will pop up as Easter eggs somewhere or another direct reference to this episode.
I know one of the early production bibles of the show had the scrapped idea of Evil-Lyn (aka Evelyn Powers) and Beast Man (forgot his dropped real name) being spaceship mates of Marlena who crashed landed on Eternia with her before turning evil and mutated.
One of the many interesting ideas a piece of media that can have a good reason for being dropped, because if it was in the show, it likely would've barely contributed anything other than minor interactions because Marlena is rarely out of the castle in this show.
"Maybe we will visit Earth one day."
Three years later, that happened and yeah....didn't go so well.....
Be careful what you wish for, Randor. 😬
3 stars. Notable tmfor having bad guys who rarely appear, especially two-bad, but overall I found the plot a bit dull.
