Excellent picks and thanks for reminding me about Aliens which, imo, is one of the greatest action films ever produced. After arriving on Acheron, the film literally takes you by the neck and drags you through its unrelenting action. That it also is able to create dynamic characters and dramatic storylines for them is an added by significant achievement for an action film. I'm adding it to my list. 🙂
My favorite run of movies ever is Pixar's "golden age" from 1995 to 2010 (Toy Story to Toy Story 3).
I think they understood then, more than any other major studio before or since, how to make movies that not only appeal to general audiences, but also connect with people on a deeper level.
They're all not just great movies to watch with the whole family, but also excellent films to study the finer details of! Kids can appreciate the fun animation and jokes, while the adults can take away the true themes of the movie.
WALL-E is my personal favorite of that lineup for how ambitious it is for a mainstream animated feature, plus my personal bias towards sci-fi stories. But I can legitimately understand why anyone would choose any of these films over another, they're all incredible!
@rk-spot Toy Story 3 is one of the greatest movies ever made, hands down!
@kinggrayskull09 I agree, that one's an absolute favorite of mine. The entire trilogy's fantastic, but that one stands out the most to me as the true king. Not just the ending, but the whole movie; I love prison breaks, and Toy Story 3's one of the best executed I've ever seen!
I have not really cared for anything they've done with the series since then. Skipped out on going to see Toy Story 5 since I didn't wanna be disappointed again 😢

@rk-spot Toy Story 4 ruined what was a perfect ending to the original trilogy. I took my kids to see it other day and was skeptical but it really wasn’t bad. It wasn’t great but it was better than the 4th
@brasco I know Toy Story 4 is pretty divisive among people; I think I'm in the camp of "the movie could've worked, but missed the right ingredients."
The idea of Woody finding a new purpose in life that requires him to leave the gang behind is a solid premise to meaningfully evolve the character dynamics post-Andy. If it's framed as a selfless choice, him realizing his experience could genuinely help lost toys out there, that would be powerful to see him sacrifice things for a greater calling.
But, the movie doesn't really lean into that, instead framing it as him wanting to reunite with Bo Peep or worried that Bonnie doesn't like him anymore. Plus, the entire side cast of the original trilogy gets sidelined for new characters that don't contribute much, and Buzz is turned into a one-note gag that destroys his intelligence. The ending of Woody saying goodbye rings so hollow because we never got any true closure between Woody and the gang regarding his choice (especially with Jessie).
I think if the fourth movie went back-to-basics and made this a Woody and Buzz adventure like the first movie, where Woody finds this new calling and the two contemplate their new life paths, it would've been more satisfying. Plus, giving the original gang more to do, along with Bonnie's other toys.
The Toy Story 4 we got was too muddled, and it didn't leave me excited for what happens next. Toy Story 5 immediately bringing back Woody is silly too, because the series didn't even commit to 4's ending for a single film! And we don't even need to bring up Lightyear 😓
