Recently we put a spotlight on mass pre-order cancellations at Walmart. Routinely occurring with collectibles ordered during Walmart’s Collector Con (a virtual event where Walmart offers exclusive collectibles from major brands)…. …pre-order cancellations for their offerings have become so surmountable that the event has been dubbed “Cancel Con” by the community. Most recently it has been occurring with Masterverse "Vintage Collection" Figures, where dozens of fans were complaining that they were receiving emails from Walmart stating that their pre-orders would no longer be filled. Yet, on eBay, there is a seller for instance that calls themselves WSI (possibly Warrior Sale Incorporated? based on…
We have the Power!
I’ve seen that seller’s name pop up before when in connection with rare figures that they seem to have in abundance.
Definitely weird that they have all this stock that is supposed to be exclusively for Walmart.
How scary! Isn't it? The Mer-Man debacle led me to the same conclusion, as I had no reason to speculate sooner on the matter, since the availability of both MAA and Teela was pretty widespread in my country... hurray?!
Could those sellers be walmart employees??
Another possibility, there is a hot wheels collector and a pokemon collector in my area and I know for a fact that they both give out their phone numbers to employees at Walmart, target and even stop and shop. They give htf items or cash in return for employees putting aside things for them. I’m sure others do this as well
I heard of employees doing it before but not at this amount. That is a lot of figures!
Somebody said Mattel should hire a couple of private dicks and get to the bottom of it. I agree.
Now we are not going to speculate on where exactly stock like this comes from.
I mean if these are Walmart exclusives I do have a faint idea about where that stock might come from 😝
For the consumers it does not matter if its incompetence or neglegence; Walmart needs to fix that ASAP and Mattel needs to stop using them for exclusives until they did.
If we don't all flood Walmart & Mattel with complaints this will continue. You know that old old expression "The squeaky wheel gets the oil"? Well, if you all remain silent on this issue you're basically telling Mattel, Walmart & the eBay scalper that it's perfectly A-OK. Say nothing & nothing happens! Bitching & moaning on a fan forum won't do shit to fix the problem!
MOVE YOUR ASSES & DO SOMETHING OR STFU!
Get on ChatGPT & explain the situation & ask for all the info & contacts. I just did, it said to contact Investor Relations to get to the higher ups & skip the regular customer service drones. I just sent emails to Mattel & Walmart & I made sure to use the word "stolen" to get their attention. Somebody in these companies can fix this problem & hopefully go after & shut down that 1 eBay seller.
So, my MAA was cancelled, and I ended up getting on eBay for $40+tax. My Teela was cancelled, but I immediately reordered and got one direct from Walmart at the ~$22 price. My Mer-Man from Walmart has not be cancelled yet.
This is very frustrating. I mean, I'm really sorry for my fellow american MOTU collectors because this kind of issues can disrupt a hobby and hurt the wallet on various depths (depending on how much each one of us is desperate to get his beloved action figures). I live in italy so I'm not directly involved in the american AF shortage, or at least, this problem was already quite common here, where MOTU figures are often hard to find in both online and physical shops (the Origins line has been available in some physical shops for a little while, then it disappeared). Anyway, I'm confident that the future Deluxe V.C. figures will be somehow available here in some form, even if the the new Chronicles line has quickly taken the spotlight long before the movie comes to theaters. Fingers crossed!
