@ornclown I get what you're saying now and I don't disagree but were now at a point where all the vintage playsets are done and Mattel doesn't seem shy about one "big" item on MC each year so we could see the dinosaurs that way. Maybe they could include King Hiss with Tyrantisaurus.

Man, I love this idea. Especially since Hiss has been so rare over the last few years....and he's kind of a big character. I lucked out and got him for $40 on eBay a while back.

@ornclown there are more unpaired He-Men and Skeletors in Origins than you may think.

We might see Thunder Punch and Dragon Blaster as a pair, but in the ‘80s, in parts of Europe, I know Thunderpunch was not released. In Germany, I know they paired Dragon Blaster with Battle Armor He-Man, and these were the only variants that came out officially.
No BA Skeletor, no Terror Claws, no Flying Fists either…

I seem to remember that maybe, Origins TP He-Man wasn’t released in Germany, either?? Again!! Or he was really rare.
(they also have to overpay for the figures, unfortunately. Tauraton costs 44 Euros over there, no matter where they order!)

Seems I made the right call to move here a couple decades ago, 😅 Until they start dumping boatloads of rare MOTU toys to Europe again!

Agreed.

I wish that Mattel had seen fit to make a "Skeletor Through the Ages" box set... like they did with He-Man.

@cosmic Yeah, for some reason Thunder Punch He-Man was not distributed in major European markets.

I only know this because I was late to pull the trigger on him and his secondary prices spiked much more quickly than any other Origins figure at the time.

@ornclown That’s the thing, when stuff doesn’t release in Europe, they all order at BBTS and elsewhere in US, and suddenly the figure gets rare around here, too

Just a heads up, there were already “corrected” re-releases of He-Man and Skeletor with vintage heads, and the full swords. (But no color differences otherwise). Don’t remember when they came out. So this is the second time they got rereleased, the second time with vintage heads.

This newest release has also slight color differences on armors and He-Man’s trunks I think, so I’m thinking of hunting them down, though I already have my kinda perfect Skeletor: the one from the Stranger Things set. Love that version.

I also wouldn’t mind a Man-At-Arms rerelease with a darker green. The early Origins tried to be very toy-etic, with squeaky bright colors. Come to think of it, Evil-Lyn might also benefit from a slightly more sophisticated colorway, plus the updated knees.

I built myself a darker MAA using the Snake Infiltrator, of course without the mustache. 😜

Yeah I knew that those V2 He-Man and Skeletors were some of my first Origins figures

We need a King Hisss reissue

While being up with insomnia, I browsed some of the offerings of the ToyHabits site, and now I’m fully convinced they use AI to write some of their articles, at least their “in-hand” reviews.

The texts were always a bit strange since they describe exactly what’s in the photos and feel incredibly redundant.

But for example the review of the Buzz-Off / Webstor / Keldor / Whiplash wave has several “descriptions” that are plain wrong.

This includes descriptions of multiple backing cards as well as at least one made up “observation” about a figure. Would an human writer invent stuff that’s not there?

At some point, the “writer” can’t even distinguish between the actual figure and a drawn illustration.

See if u can spot the mistakes @admin

@smitty-81 Thanks for the heads-up!!

Ordered both of them!

Teela looks great in the Origins style and Skeletor has some good detail in his design... he appears to use the same type of "hood articulation" as the chronicles figure.

(Also, lol at Tygra card! 🤣 I didn't know Skeletor moonlit as a Thunderian scientist!)

@cosmic I've come to the same conclusion, they have definitely posted AI hallucinations in multiple updates. There was something odd about the packaging description in first recent Wun-Dar update (there was only an image of the front at the time).

I just saw Skeletor and Teela, too.

Shipping in September? I do think this points to Mattel still releasing movie products for the rest of the year.

I actually… am not sure about those two figures. I’ve gotten too used to the Chronicles and Core looks I think… Skeletor’s proportions just look funny to me! And I’m not 100% sure about Teela’s face. Also I’m kinda broke, so perhaps I’m trying to talk myself out of it. 😏

Yeah I noticed the Wun-Dar thing, too! Hallucinations is the right word.
Can’t be bothered to write an actual review, it’s strange.

Tauraton arrived here yesterday, pretty much without warning. I think I didn’t even get an order confirmation. Only yesterday suddenly, notice from FedEx he’s out for delivery.

He looks good! The box is quite nice. Cover a bit bland. Head reminds me of a Ray Harryhausen creature, with a golden mask. Hence the lack of detail..?

ALSO: is this a foreshadowing of how the Giants will be packaged?? 🤔 😳

We’re gonna need a bigger box, if so!

Maybe the giants will be packed with mini figures of normal sized charcters?

@smitty-81 Oh, like in the recent Godzilla vs DC sets. Could be a compromise, if they can’t make them very big. Or even if they are pretty big, you can make them feel even bigger that way 😃

I do think we need a few, not just one He-Ro, for it to work.

Wouldn’t be a priority for me but I wouldn’t say no. Even more MOTU in different scales! Or just use the MEGA figs!

What I'm envisioning is a Origins giant body like ToG Krang or Skel-Ra as Tytus and/or Megator with a few MEGA figures. Ideally Tytus would come with bad guys and Megator would come with good guys.

@smitty-81 Yeah that would be fun.

Thankfully, MEGA figures are still available to get, even if Mattel doesn’t do this. I have a few… somewhere.

Nowadays, they have the Brickshop micro figs, which might be too small for it.
The Mighty Masters are another possibility, though a bit different proportions. But probably more suitable than the old Eternia Minis.

The Mighty Masters might be a better choice. I had forgotten about them when I posted earlier.

Very cool to see. Hard to find proper vintage size comparisons, though I haven’t looked that hard. Battle Ram Blog shows the packaging, with King Hoss being captured by Tytus. (it seems the scans are from He-Man.org originally)

https://battleramblog.com/tytus-heroic-giant-warlord-1988/

(I think Mighty Masters is closer to this ratio, but it depends how big you really want the giants to be in your world)
