I don't remember, have they ever shown MC stuff at SDCC?

@cosmic I almost put "Snake Lair 2.0 update 2" on the list!

It would be nice to hear them say "Skeletal Lady Slithers have started shipping and we're still on track for 11/20/2026"

List should also have included Chronicles Gym Bro Skeletor and Chronicles Jet Sled (rumored, big question marks)

I just wonder how much further they can push into the figure lines. Are they planning for parity between all 3? Hope they don't forget about HR Skeletor...

Mattel and their releases and release plans just straight up confuse me, to be honest!!

@smitty-81 These weren't all released on MC, but I believe they were shown as MC

2025 - Sting-Or, Dragstor, She-Ra + Swift Wind
2024 - Rio Blast, Geldor, Demo-Man, CC Modulok, CC Vultak

Man, this kind of research was a lot easier when toy collecting was more niche.

@johnnyotool Many of the characters have now appeared in two or three lines, Rammy will be in 3 soon, … yeah I’m also curious how far they will go.

But this year was always announced as being “movie themed”, so I wonder if this will all continue till Christmas, and then a new year of Origins will begin.

There are still various characters not made, there were a lot of characters in that movie. Moss Man and Mekaneck in Chronicles? GOAT Man in Origins? Etc etc

Question will be, if they show stuff at SDCC that goes beyond the movie, things for next year, or if they really keep the focus on the film, to support the impending digital release, streaming release etc.

They... already have that...?

I mean an entire retail line.

It doesn't have to be big, but something that is more substantial and accessible to the general fans.

I want my MOTU dinosaurs, dangit!!!

@ornclown I'd be surprised if Powers of Grayskull was unbundled from Club Grayskull, but anything could happen!

This is what I hope for Mattel to announce.

I think that there is enough meat on the bones of PoG that it could survive on its own.

Mostly, I just want to get my hands on some legit MOTU dinosaur beasts and vehicles!! (Something I think would have to happen at retail...)

@ornclown I get what you're saying now and I don't disagree but were now at a point where all the vintage playsets are done and Mattel doesn't seem shy about one "big" item on MC each year so we could see the dinosaurs that way. Maybe they could include King Hiss with Tyrantisaurus.

@slycooperastroboy51 Yeah they are rare, but they exist. Seems they did one more batch of them back in the day, with updated knees. They are overpriced on the after market. Some folks got her just from Amazon but it’s a gamble probably.

@ornclown Congrats! Mine was supposed to ship from Walmart today or yesterday, too, but so far it’s not moving.

Some of these movie figures do strike me as being a bit too detailed for Origins. The designers probably think, while they have the budget, what the heck let’s make it a cool figure, consistency be damned lol

They recently did updated rereleases for Original Origins He-Man and Skeletor to co-incite with the movie, complete with corrected toy based heads and even a little detailing on He-Man's axe which I kinda like.

I remember selling out quickly on BBTS when they were first listed on the site but then I pre-ordered both of them once they had more stock to pre-order

And I mean with the slew of new fans really think Mattel should start reissuing some prominent character figures from the first three years of Origins with maybe some slight tweaks and updates if needed and sell them at normal retail price of around $20-22 rather than me buying a Faker or Stratos NIB on eBay for around $40

They're not really doing the "fan favorite" rereleases anymore, but they don't have to label them as such.

Teela is probably the character who needs this the most with the corrected knees.

Also maybe give some Mattel Creations figures normal releases? Sy-Klone? Grizzlor? I mean Geldor and Night Stalker recently are no longer MC exclusives after being permanently sold out on there.

@slycooperastroboy51 Yeah it could happen.

Just a heads up, there were already “corrected” re-releases of He-Man and Skeletor with vintage heads, and the full swords. (But no color differences otherwise). Don’t remember when they came out. So this is the second time they got rereleased, the second time with vintage heads.

This newest release has also slight color differences on armors and He-Man’s trunks I think, so I’m thinking of hunting them down, though I already have my kinda perfect Skeletor: the one from the Stranger Things set. Love that version.

I also wouldn’t mind a Man-At-Arms rerelease with a darker green. The early Origins tried to be very toy-etic, with squeaky bright colors. Come to think of it, Evil-Lyn might also benefit from a slightly more sophisticated colorway, plus the updated knees.

I built myself a darker MAA using the Snake Infiltrator, of course without the mustache. 😜

I'm curious if Mattel will pull back a bit on movie themed figures since the movie bombed, or if they'll continue to support it with products in the hope that it becomes a hit on streaming...

The products are already produced at point, might as well make some $$ off them? Unless the distribution is too much effort, but even that should be all lined up at this point. Would they really hold back x thousands of units?

General audience might not be fully aware if the movie is a flop, but they are a bit more aware of MOTU through all the marketing.
Which hopefully means MOTU at least sells some more toys this year– movie themed or not.

And then yes, there is the Video on Demand Release, the physical, the streaming,… which hopefully offsets the losses a bit more, and help promote more toys.

“It is all part of a multi-part strategy yada yada 😏

I think the issue is if retailers aren't interested, like what happened at the end of the original line, what would Mattel's alternate distribution plan look like?

Would they go for MC direct sales, or fan channel (BBTS, Ent Earth), or... just send everything to Europe again?

I'm curious about this as well.

I'm not sure how deep Mattel was planning to go with the movie offerings, but the fact that these characters were headlining the Core and Chronicles lines, and showing up in Origins (MOTU's flagship line), tell me that Mattel was expecting a longer run at retail...

Maybe they will stay the course and continue to distribute them as planned, and/or cancel any products that have not gone into development.

We might find out more at SDCC.

I will be really upset if we don't get Evil-Lyn, Fisto, Goat Man, and Mekaneck in the Origins movie waves... the absence of Evil-Lyn and Fisto especially would be awful. 🙁

I'd be down for an "8-Back" Multi-pack with refreshed Origins figures.

Or, two separate Multi-packs that represent the original 12-Back cards... a Heroic Warriors 6-pack and an Evil Warriors 6-pack.

@ornclown I think obviously they'll still release any movie characters that were already into the production phase, but if a more robust line up had been planned I'm fairly confident any products that were not that far along yet in development will be cancelled due to the movie's terrible box office results, or at best put on hold until streaming results have been analyzed. I suspect Mattel's SDCC announcements to be more muted this year in light of the film's failure.

Oh well, I'd rather have them focus on continuing to give us more deep cuts in Origins anyway. That's where the meat is.

@durendal I would tend to agree. This next convention may have its fair share of surprises, and by 'surprises' I mean pretty consensual ones, at best. Now, what I'd be interested to see is:

Origins: Laser Light Skeletor.

Chronicles: Clawful (heavily rumoured by Toy Habits lately).

Masterverse: Evil-Lyn and Wun-Dar as Vintage Collection figures (probably the brand's last show).

Give me those and I'll probably get my popcorn bucket ready (lol).

Yeah it depends if / how these distribution  deals were hammered out in advance.
I agree the retailers are a bit more in tune about the fact that these products are tied to an unsuccessful movie.
But if the deals were already made in advance… these products will come.
Stuff that isn’t produced might get halted, but these are planned and done in advance I think.

Maybe, just maybe, for the general consumers, could these be seen as just general MOTU toys? is there a stench of a failed movie to them, or are they just another version of the usual characters?

In other words, how much (does Mattel think) does it matter these are movie toys?

Would love to see these shown!

Tytus/Megator as future PoG releases, anything Filmation, and Chronicles Jet Sled are at the top of my want to see list right now

I don't think they'll mention MV and these will just show up on the Cancel-Con site a week before SDCC...

Okay, ordered My Tauraton, and added a Chronicles Orko, while I was at it 😏.
(Will be my 3rd Chronicle)

Meanwhile, my Movie O. Trap Jaw has actually just arrived, unexpectedly!
As has my “new-knees” Teela from EBay.

It’s Target who has failed this time around, pushing my preorders till July 14th? SB Skeletor, Movie-O MAA & Tri-Klops.

Origins: Laser Light Skeletor.

While I'm sure that Laser Light Skeletor will show up at some point, I would love to get him sooner rather than later...

He needs to act as a stand-in for NA Skeletor because my Origins NA He-Man has been very lonely. 🙁

@ornclown there are more unpaired He-Men and Skeletors in Origins than you may think.
