FYI, if you don't think you'll use the wings with Hordak don't even test them - the articulation is on a super weak clip that snaps really easily and leaves the peg stuck in his fucking back!
It's a great figure otherwise but sort out the QC, Mattel, this shit's not cheap.
Gotta speak up for that New Etheria She-Ra. I like her a lot 🤷. She’s creative, using some Art Nouveaux influences, which goes for the face, too. I guess she’s not for everyone. I think she fits perfectly with some of the more eccentric designs in NE.
I also like how she shines when you put a spotlight on her.
I did find it weird that the elbows bend in both directions lol. I’ve never seen that!
The (gorgeous) package design suggests a kinship to Filmation thoughwhich is not really fitting. I can see fans comparing that to the figure and being put off. She should have gotten some weirder New Etheria illustrations and leaning into the creative choices of the actual figure. NE is always unsettling and more strange, doesn’t really fit with the Filmation-like illustrations.

I totally agree though that I wouldn’t buy a figure I hate, not even for the accessories. I don’t want to have an “awful” figure in my home lol I’ve never been a completist.

Absolutely! This approach has completely thrown me off balance. It seems to be purely marketing aimed at striking a chord with collectors at the risk of an outcry.
@onlyoneskeletor Yes that sounds right; marketing dictated to the art director to commission something traditional and Filmation-y, since the illustration is so big, it draws almost more attention than the figure, and kinda sells it.
In this case, it just doesn’t serve the more creative figure though and gives an unnecessary stark contrast.
Would have loved to see what a “New” Etheria really looks like, corresponding in spirit to the “shattered” New Eternia visuals.

My Kobra Khans finally shipped from BBTS. Going by the EE listing, it says a case includes 1 Kobra Khan, 1 Teela & 2 Hordaks. Was Mattel actually dumb enough to ship 2 Hordaks per case not 2 Kobra Khans? Say it ain't so! Nobody could be THAT dumb........could they? lol
I got my New Etheria She-Ra & I love her! You can complain a little about the face & headdress if it's not really your thing, but the extreme amount of hatred this figure got was ridiculous. Now it would be great if we could get some more of the girls from The Great Rebellion besides She-Ra and Frosta.
@sci-fitsunami Maybe there’s actually method hehind the madness, and they *want* Hordak to be available longer, as he’s a very well known character to normies, General Audience, collectors from other lines, etc. Maybe.
I know, I know, I am dying for characters such as KK to be in MV, and available. I totally hear ya. MV is running on fumes rn till the “reboot”. It’s annoying.

Nah, I was desperate for another She-Ra after that weird facesculpt on the PoP version, and I'm even into concept art and whatever else, but that New Etheria headsculpt is just a bad design throughout IMO. The actual look is more like something you'd put alongside that raging Thunder Punch He-Man headsculpt or something because they look older.

Well, Kobra Khan was back in stock for a little while at least. Blink & you miss it.
Man, these toy companies really need to do better. Its freakin 2025, come up with a new production/distribution system already. They're not even trying to improve anything. At least Hasbro tries to get the hard-to-find Transformers back into circulation. It takes a few years but they have been actively reissuing the older figures. And screwing the scalpers THANK GOD!!! But Mattel seems to be locked into the 1 & done mindset.
And the funny part is, they love releasing Skeletor constantly. So producing a second batch of BA Skeletor should be a no-brainer. If Hasbro can listen to their fans/customers, what the hell is Mattel's problem?
@yen1893 The problem with that type of offer is that there are several options (perhaps too many): You can play with Kobra Khan in his pure vintage look, Camo Khan (mainly because of the included pincers and mace), and the additional Kobra collar. That's a really big deal! I wouldn't be surprised if most of us end up buying at least three.
@durendal So? It is clearly pushed by marketing to make a package design that does not serve or reflect the figure, using a cartoon Filmation background of all things. Sorry that does not say New Etheria to me.
And the illo She-Ra looks exactly like Filmation except the dress. Really odd. (I do love Filmation She-Ra btw). Going with the most famous look, for sales, sure, but undermining their own toy design. Yeah they got cold feet maybe, but also c’mon.
This is New Etheria, it does not have to look like the cartoon show. None of the NE designs do. So I’m happy, but you do you 🤷
