While the Chinese box office is not as coveted as it used to be for movies made in the United States…
…it is still a valuable region that sometimes can help turn a moderately success movie into an outright blockbuster.

Pacific Rim (2013) is a great example. It only grossed $92.3 Million domestically in the United States, but because it grossed a massive $111.9 million in China, it helped push the film to a $411 Million Worlwide Total Gross (which was enough to greenlight a sequel.)

Last year’s Zootopia 2 is a great example of what the Chinese market could do. The Eastern country made the animated sequel the highest-grossing imported film in Chinese history, grossing $610 Million solely in that country.

So, it is great news that China, a country that is very restrictive regarding which movies can play there, has accepted the “Masters of the Universe” Movie, which will release there on June 6th. Here is the poster:

This news can only help this movie’s final box office tally… and the future prospect of a “Masters of the Universe 2“.
We’ll see you next time.

I can see this being a hit there!
It’s good news for sure! Whatever happens, but some more fans can see it, some more money to make the budget back!
More places to earn money is always good!
