MOTU is not in the IMAX format so it will be on the bigger screen without the improved resolution.

I would see it in IMAX but I already bought my tickets.

Interesting... I just checked, and the two IMAX theaters near me do  not have MOTU listed as an option.

This must be a more limited release than I thought.

(I would have purchased IMAX tickets for sure -that was my preference way back when tix first went on sale- but I'm fine with the Alamo and AMC tickets I've got right now.)

@ornclown Apparently the new Star Wars movie was underperforming and there is some sort of contract clause IMAX can exploit. Good for MOTU even though it won't be in true IMAX format.

An IMAX theater screen in my town had already been planning to show it for at least a couple weeks now.

@firefly Can any movie be projected on an IMAX screen? Or, does it have to be formatted beforehand (regardless of whether it was filmed for IMAX or not)??

@Ornclown I think it underwent the digital remastering (DMR) process to fit the giant screen and amplified sound environment.  Most movies can be done that way.  If it were shot with IMAX camera, it would probably look even better.  I only saw it in a regular theater,  though, so can't talk on how it looked.

Well, I'm going to see it on Wednesday, with my wife, in IMAX.

I'm excited to see it again on the big, BIG screen!

I'll report any differences / quality changes from the standard release that I notice...

I saw it on IMAX the second time, and I was not impressed with the format. I had seen it on Dolby Cinema the night before which was vastly superior: fantastic sound, similar screen size, and clearer picture. The pricing for both were also very similar. I am seeing it tonight in XD DBOX.

My wife and I decided to go see MOTU in IMAX tonight instead of Wednesday!!

I'm glad we got to see it on the giant screen... the sound was booming! And the wall to wall screen just looked so damn cool with everything going on in this movie.

I saw it at the Alamo Drafthouse the first time, although it wasn't on their "Big Show" giant curved screen. So, for me, the IMAX was incredible.

I am going to see it again this coming weekend in RPX. I have a feeling this will be the best of the bunch because of the sensory-tech subwoofers built right into the reclining seats! 😎
