The Quorum is the industry leader in providing film tracking, research and actionable insights for movies. Surveying more than 2,000 "everyday Americans" about upcoming films, The Quorum crunches their data with expert analysis providing movie studios survey-based data months before a film’s release (making the company the leading source for industry professionals.) Now that you know what The Quorum is... their latest report is a bit concerning for He-Man fans. Looking how the "Masters of the Universe" Movie is tracking against its main competitor "Scary Movie 6" (which both are releasing in theaters June 5th)... ...the new Scary Movie film…
We have the Power!
I was talking to my brother about this the other day -I'm obviously optimistic and hopeful, but it honestly FEELS like this is a simmering giant we may have on our hands. The trailer views were insanely high, and everything we've been hearing (including today) seems that if you loved the cartoon, this movie is for you.
I can't really explain these metrics outside this is a unique property, and maybe more people have Scary Movie on their general radar as it's a more recent franchise. One area I'm starting to get fairly confident on - no matter how it opens, this feels like it's going to get great word of mouth and have some legs based on that. Whether or not that's enough or long term sustainable is another question though.
Metrics are a bit weird. 37% of those polled are aware of the film with 43% interested in seeing it and 50% believing it should be seen on the big screen..uuhhh oook.
The CinemaCon event went over like crazy and the 20 minutes blew everyone away. When April 25th comes and goes and the marketing kicks in full gear, then I'd be worried if the tracking was low. I don't have a bone in the fight if it's successful or not but I'd be lying if they consider any result a box office failure and the brand is iced outside of continuing the toys In a limited capacity. Any future movie attempts would be out of my lifetime 😆
@dgsimo I fully agree. I know why we got the movie we got in '87, and while I do love it, it's not what we would have envisioned/wanted at the time. THIS one by all accounts seems to be exactly what we've always wanted, I don't know how they could do it another without radical changes if this wasn't a success. That said, if this doesn't succeed, this will probably be the last MOTU movie for us but hopefully the base is still strong enough for some more animated series.
That company is legit so the numbers are the numbers. It sounds strange in our world but He-Man always had an uphill battle after the eighties just like Dungeons & Dragons and Conan.

Absolutely and same sentiments. I loved the '87 movie and it was great for the time. I've always had a soft spot for it since but understand it was a product of the time and budget.
The vintage toys and Filmation are what hooked me onto He-Man and MOTU all those years ago as a wee nipper back in 1985 so to finally get a big budget live action smorgasbord of that with elements of this and that be it the comics, 2002 series etc....if they nail it the film could make a $1 and I'd be in heaven. 😆
Ultimately I hope they nail it, I hope it's a success that spurs sequels and in between maybe Amazon and Mattel can get a animated series going to tide us over between films and gets thrown on Prime Video for 2 or 3 seasons. Use the movie designs if you want, don't even worry about making it canon either.
All I can tell you is this: I personally will be seeing Masters of the Universe and assuming I like it will be seeing it at least twice in the theater.
You'd have to pay me to see Scary Movie and I'm talking thousands to millions! Like I initially was going to say you couldn't even pay me to see it, but I'll admit I could endure it once if it meant becoming rich as a result but only then!
Since I hate horror movies, I couldn't care less about Scary Movie, my heart belongs to the new Masters Of The Universe movie!❤️
Supreme Fan Of The Go-Go's & The Bangles!
Masters Of The Universe, Princess Of Power & New Adventures Of He-Man Fan!
Social Justice Warrior!
DC Comics Fan!
Their metrics might be off for a movie like this. MOTU has a dedicated fanbase, and even those of us who never go to movie theatres anymore plan to go see this.
