So I have an instragram and currently some of the artists who were hired on-and-off for the recent film in it's decade+ long development hell are starting to post concept art of these versions of the film of when they were under different directors and different drafts .

While the movie we got was definitely for the best, it's still interesting to take a look at what could've been with certain pieces of media.

What urged me to make this forum is Travis Knight stating in an interview that before he came onto the film, Skeletor didn't have a skull head but rather a yellow skull mask of which he very rightfully so dropped that idea. Today I looked at one of these artists who worked on the movie, Instagram user Constantinesekeris. He worked on the version of the movie the Nee brothers were gonna direct around 2019-2020. He's been releasing his concept art and among them I spotted the alleged Skeletor skull mask.

I (ShadowOfTheHorde) replied to his post curiously bringing up the mask thing and whether Skeletor would've still had a skull head and he actually replied back

"yes we had a Skeletor with a mask version that was the final even though we already had done versions of just a skull talking as u see in the Travis knight film …we didn’t negate thats as exploration or option….its just he wasn’t written with a organic talk skull in the version i worked on in the end …the decision was to have a reveal and so therefor he had a skull mask…there was good reason behind it and it would of made sense and been very very kool…i have shared a early version of Skeletor with a organic skull much like the cartoon that was going to b a talking cgi skull"

So what I gather is that Skel would've worn a skull mask throughout the film and then there would be a reveal that his head was a skull behind it? Okay?

Here's the post if you're curious.

I want this forum to be a discussion where we can talk about various interesting things considered or cut from the movie over the years.

On a side note I noticed two things in these concept art pieces that did carry over into the Knight version where the casting idea of Idris Elba Duncan and Roboto's design. Orko looked like a weird black furred lemur.

Here's some more concept art of the main Evil Warriors done by him in another post with designs that screams "2010s dark and gritty reimagining film adaptation". Snyder-esqe.

Not gonna lie, I like the Trap Jaw and Evil-Lyn here. Jaw looks a lot more like his 200x beefed up self and Evil-Lyn really gives off a more modern interpretation of a mystical dark witch. I in particular like her weird hair spikes substituting her signature headdress.
