@anneela hopefully this momentum continues, but in my opinion what this means THUS FAR is there is an interest in this brand.  What that ultimately looks like for the future is debatable - direct to streaming, lower budget sequel, different series, etc... but I think we can take this info as cautiously optimistic that it bodes well for the brand at large.

@battlecat327 So you think this may give us more stuff which is not necessarily more sequels with Nicholas. It will be a shame if they can't continue.

@anneela If there's enough impetus to do a sequel with Nick, it'll go direct to Prime. Putting it in theatres didn't work.

I saw quite a lot of non-target audience with 'first time' watch reactions that where quite positively surprised and/or shocked what gem they almost missed pop up recently on YouTube.

Mattel/right holders told themselves the lie that MOTU as is is not popular enough; pointed to fails to mass appeal that where various missfires that either not looked like MOTU; lacked its camp/positive messages or both.

They waited too long and then fired too fast with duds (aka bad marketing). The reactions to the movie show that Masters as (mostly) is has not lost one ounce of its appeal; the rightsholders amount of past fumblings requires them to do a bit more than just say 'heres the movie; gobble up' though.

@anneela at this point I would guess everything is still on the table.  I hope they're able to continue with Nick - I thought he nailed the role and I'm sure he's contractually obligated if they choose to proceed, I would guess it's probably more of a question of what their internal viewing metrics determine the franchise is worth to invest in moving forward

I wouldn't trade the theatrical experience for anything... however, a part of me wonders if this movie would have been considered an immediate success if it released solely for streaming from the start...?

Either way, four weeks in a row is nothing to sneeze at... especially considering the sheer amount of streaming entertainment that is available right now. (My wife and I figured that, with all the streaming services combined, you could watch something new every day of your life until you die and still only scratch the surface.)
