Anybody get tickets for the 40th anniversary showing of Transformers: The Movie back in theaters September 17-21? I got mine. This will be at least the 3rd time I've seen it in theaters (1986, 2021, and now 2026).
I'm a bit leery of the potential bonus scene after the credits they seem to be teasing since I think Season 3 did a good enough job of bringing Prime back.
Yup! I got my tickets for the 19th!
I hope they followup next year with the G.I. Joe Movie's 40th as well... I saw both of these in theater for their 35th anniversaries, and I want to keep the good times rolling! 😎

More sad news... 😞

@ornclown incredibly heartbreaking to hear about, first Dolly, then Frankenfurter, now Optimus Prime
I wish I could see this on the big screen, sadly I doubt it will be anywhere around me. I know I didn't see this in theaters as a kid, but rented it on VHS like every weekend until I finally got a copy of it. I still have that copy, plus many others on multiple formats. Needless to say it lives rent free in my head. The soundtrack is one of my fave of all time and I can listen to it on repeat so many times.
@kinggrayskull09 That one hit as hard as the other two that passed that week. Being an 80's kid all three of the icons we lost were a part of my life growing up. Peter will be missed. I had put off watching Invincible season 4 and was excited when I heard his voice.
A massive loss. The emotions from losing Cullen are gonna hit like a truck in the theater... no pun intended.
@thedoctor I wasn't an 80s kid, and I wasn't a massive transformers fan, but Peter Cullen was a legend to everyone. He was also Eeyore in Winnie the Pooh.
...but wait! There's more.....

I saw it on Sunday and, as always, loved every second of it. (I know this movie backward and forward, inside out and upside down...)
However, this time it felt a little ...different. It seemed to have more weight, or hold more meaning.
There was a quick homage to Peter Cullen before the movie, and I literally cried. It hit me like a ton of bricks - just how ingrained the voice of Optimus Prime had become in my head. This 40th anniversary project was the last time all the legions of 80s kids will hear new dialogue from one of our childhood heroes.
I've always loved this movie..... now, I love it even more, and for additional reasons.

I took my wife and youngest to it. We had a blast. The after credits stuff was kind of lame, though. We got Prime's return in season 3, so it felt unnecessary and the plot was not the best.
