It sounds like the Kickstarter documentary DVD/Blu-Ray that was supposed to include Return of Faker won't now. Plus, those that paid extra in the Kickstarter for their likeness to be in Return of Faker will likely never see it. This is the first time I've felt ripped off by a Kickstarter campaign. It was bad enough with the continued delays and now this.
I'm sorry to hear that.
@firefly That is unacceptable. Were you offered an explanation and a partial refund? It better not be because of money.
Five or six years ago the goal was $30,000 and the campaign obliterated that goal earning $114,513. I heard years later Rob had the nerve of complaining about having enough money to finish the project. It was ridiculous.
@caliban Where did all that extra money go? They need to be completely transparent as to how this failed when they raised an amount dramatically higher than the goal they set.
HOW ARE WE ONLY FINDING OUT ABOUT THIS NOW LMAO
...no, like genuinely, is this how the project went?
also unrelated aside, I heard Grim2/Grimbot (who animated on Return of Faker) was an aggressive geewunner for some reason, but that's Transformers talk lol
@Caliban He said due to legal restrictions they can't include Return of Faker with the DVD/Blu-Ray release, even though that is why most people pledged to the Kickstarter. Yet they will still be showing both Return of Faker and the documentary at this year's Power-Con before any one receives their DVDs or Blu-Rays. As far as if people will get refunded on their likeness for the cartoon that cost an extra tier, he is giving a very wishy washy response about ways to acknowledge the change, so I'm not holding my breath.
@firefly I remember you talking about this years ago. That sucks!! You should have AJ do a report on it and call some attention to it. Otherwise it could happen again to people.

It is a shame that there is no legal recourse if a Kickstarter fails to deliver. People can promise backers the moon without ever investigating if they can deliver on that promise.

This is not quite accurate.
For legal reasons, the "Return of Faker" episode will not be included on the Faking Filmation Blu Ray, but James will be delivering it to backers separately. Those whose tier rewards include their likeness being included in the "Return of Faker" episode will still receive that reward.
Both the documentary and the episode are scheduled to be delivered to backers before the screening at Power-Con's MOTUFest. There is a small possibility that the documentary will not be complete and cleared before the screening. If that were to happen, a near-complete version of the documentary will be screened at the convention, and backers will receive the completed version shortly thereafter.

That happened after @firefly posted. James had posted it in response to people getting pissed off with his video he made the day before.

And? It does not change that at the time of my post, his post was not accurate. I posted the latest information, so the outdated information would not sit in this thread as a matter of record, and give new visitors the wrong information. So now what?
The last post makes me feel somewhat better, but I don't really like that Rob has basically washed his hands entirely of Return to Faker which was the main selling point for most to support the Kickstarter. He has put it entirely at the feet of James. I trust James more than Rob, but I don't envision getting Return of Faker on blu-ray from him like I ordered since it was supposed to be one of the special features. It will probably be a download of some sort if we ever do get it which hopefully I can gain access to. I've still had zero attempts by Rob or James to get my picture over the years which I've reminded both of them about in the past. It will be interesting to see if James can get me and others animated by September.

Instead of saying @firefly posted something not quite accurate which it was accurate at the time, say there has been an update.

Putting my negative feelings aside towards James, you think he would have reached out to you about your picture years ago. The Kickstarter said the product would be coming out in Jan 2023 and if you look at the rewards, James was responsible for some of the deliverables.
Good there is a place where we can be upset about this bs other than the comment section in the kickstarter. You complain about it on facebook and they delete your comments. There are content creators circling the wagons.
This is why I don't back kickstarters.
