In the end it was Poh & JC who won the second round because the trio of boys made a gratin that was wet and soggy which was their only flaw, but it was enough to lose.

Tonight is back to business as usual in the Semi-Final where Aaron, Petro & Vinnie have to perform a Service Challenge for the judges and surprise guests. They must make a main and a dessert each. Someone will be Eliminated (with a promise of a third prize) while the other two will advance to next week's Grand Finale.

Tonight on MasterChef was a hell of a Semi-Final (I mean in the best sense of the word of course) as Aaron, Vinnie & Petro cooked against each other to secure a spot in next weekend's Grand Finale. The three finalists had to make a main course and a dessert for Judges Sofia Levin, Poh Ling Yeow & Jean-Christophe Novelli and 20 guest diners. They had the help of fourth judge Andy Allen who came back from paternity leave and mentored each of the contestants one on one.

Here are the dishes:

Aaron (Main) - Pork Treviso, XO Glaze, Miso Mustard & Pork Veal Jus. Unfortunately, the pork was severely undercooked and none of the embellishments made sense when eaten together as a whole.

All the desserts were well-received but only two main courses succeeded.

Despite the success of Aaron's dessert, his main course was problematic, so it was Aaron Kher who became the last contestant Eliminated. Bye Aaron!

Tonight on MasterChef was the long awaited Grand Finale for our two finalists - Vinnie Gibaldi & Petro Papathomas.

Judges Andy Allen, Sofia Levin, Poh Ling Yeow & Jean-Christophe Novelli divided the finale into two rounds.

Round 1 was a Mystery Box containing ingredients given by all the past guest chefs throughout the season.

Vinnie & Petro had to use the featured ingredients to create their own dish which would be given a score by the judges.

*He started with a duck dish but he overcooked it and had to create a whole new dish, which in the end worked out much better for him.

SCORES:

Poh - 9/10
Andy - 9/10
Sofia - 9/10
Jean-Christophe - 10/10

*Petro - Schezuan Pepper Caramel & Chocolate Tart, Jerusalem Artichoke Crisps

*His tart shells were unevenly cooked and bitter in spots and his caramel seemed to get lost through all the chocolate and pastry.

SCORES:

Poh - 8/10
Andy - 7/10
Sofia - 7/10
Jean-Christophe - 10/10

In Round 2, the lads had to undertake a Pressure Test set by guest Cherish Finden (see photo) who brought in an epic three-in-one dessert collectively called a Chinese Afternoon Tea which Vinnie & Petro had to recreate. This endeavour would also be given a score by Cherish as well as Judges Sofia, Poh, Jean-Christophe & Andy.
