For the record, the 11 contestants who have been Eliminated so far (not including Bella) are: Megs, Jeff, Belinda, Alita, Kanika, Lucy, Miin, Olaolu, Lydia, Jack & Dot.
 
We have 13 contestants remaining: Aaron, Alyona, Annabel, Bella, Casper, Emily, Grace, Hannah, Jackie, Luke, Pat, Petro & Vinnie.

There will be 10 more Eliminations.
 
Someone will eventually go home after the Semi-Final with the automatic 3RD Prize of $10,000.
 
The Top 2 will progress to the Grand Finale, the 2ND Place runner-up will win $40,000 - while the 1ST Place winner will have their name etched on the Trophy for all time, they will be named MasterChef 2026 & will take home $250,000.
 
Then we wait for the 2027 season next year.

*I LOVE the Taste Test Challenge where contestants have to taste test a cleverly disguised food item and guess what it is - those who guess wrong go into the Elimination Round.

*I am assuming Jess' Challenge is an Elimination Challenge as well.

Tonight on MasterChef was the beginning of Sweet Week which kicked off with guest Adriano Zumbo's Lucky Dip Immunity Challenge. The contestants were each given a cloche with a mystery ingredient which they had to use in a dessert. Some fared better than others in the "luck - or unluck - of the draw"  style challenge in regard to ingredients (chosen by Adriano).

 
*Some of the ingredients were just plain WEIRD. You can keep your fish sauce, seaweed and tonka beans thanks!

 
Contestant - Ingredient:
 
Aaron - Nectarine
Alyona - Fish Sauce
Annabel - Hibiscus
Bella - Kombu Seaweed
Casper - Barberry
Emily - Tamarind
Grace - Chestnut
Hannah - Cardamom
Jackie - Plum
Luke - Cherry 
Pat - Orange
Petro - Tonka Beans 
Vinnie - Blueberry
 
 
The winner of the 3 BEST Dishes would see its makers win Immunity from tomorrow night's Elimination.

The Bottom Dishes included: Bella, Vinnie, Casper, Emily & Grace.
 
 
Bella's Kombu Ice Cream, Kombu Caramel & Black Sesame Sponge lacked significant kombu flavour because she didn't like the taste so she did not put much in which completely missed the brief of making a hero of the ingredient and her sponge was too dry; Vinnie's Chocolate Blueberries (or as Judge Sofia called them "boobies on a plate") were too simple yet difficult to eat; Casper's Chocolate Cremeux, Barberry Syrup, Pickled Barberries & Candied Hazelnuts were totally out of balance with the chocolate and hazelnut overpowering the barberry which was supposed to be the star; Grace's Chestnut & Chocolate Cake, Pears, Creme Fraiche & Chestnut Tuile also did not hero her ingredient well enough; and Emily's Tamarind Coconut Ice Cream, Tamarind Caramel & Coconut Praline had too much texture which conflicted the dish and her tamarind was too dispersed throughout the dish.
 
 
In the middle were: Aaron, Annabel, Luke, Jackie & Hannah.
 
Luke's Cherry & Chocolate Entremet
Annabel's Coconut & Hibiscus Dumplings & Hibiscus Syrup
Hannah's Cardamom White Chocolate Blondie, Carrot Cardamom Ice Cream & Walnut Crumb
Jackie's Plum & Szechuan Pepper Granita, Chilli Chocolate Ice Cream & Plum Jam 
Aaron's Brandy Nectarine Chilli Sponge, Nectarine Gel & Nectarine Creme Diplomat
 
*There was nothing intrinsically wrong with their dishes, but they were not as extraordinary as the winning dishes, nor were they deeply flawed like the bottom dishes. They either needed just a tad more flavour or refinement.

Petro - Tonka Bean Tart, Tonka Bean Creme Diplomate, Tonka Bean Caramel & Shaved Chocolate

 

*Petro was the star of the evening, which was especially impressive considering he had never even seen or tasted a tonka bean before and didn't know what to do with it at first!
 
 
Tomorrow night is the Ice Cream Taste Test where the other 10 contestants have to guess the ice cream flavours and the incorrect guessers have to play the Elimination Challenge.

Tonight on MasterChef was the Ice Cream Taste Test Elimination Challenge. Everyone except Alyona, Pat & Petro (all of whom won Immunity last night) had to take turns tasting small dishes of ice cream prepared by the judges. 

 
Some of the weird flavours included: basil, cauliflower, tomato, saffron, onion, & carrot.

 
One by one, Aaron, Annabel, Bella, Casper, Emily, Grace, Hannah, Jackie, Luke & Vinnie came up to taste the ice cream, they had to guess what flavour they were tasting. This went on for several rounds until someone guessed incorrectly, then that person was set aside. Once 4 people guessed incorrectly, that was the end of the round.
 
Those 4 contestants (Aaron, Annabel, Casper & Jackie) had to make a dessert using any of the ingredients used in the tastings (even ones they didn't personally taste) and the least favourable dish would send its maker home. 
 
The dishes all looked good, so it came down to execution and taste. I will share photos of the hits and the misses.

The Bottom 2 dishes were: Casper & Jackie.
 
 
Casper - Saffron & Carrot Ice Cream, Orange Marshmallow Meringue, Orange Segments, Macaron Kisses & Vanilla Bean Oil. The judges felt his flavours were way too subtle - given that he doesn't like saffron but still chose to use it, which really didn't make sense on an Elimination day. Judge Jean-Christophe liked some of the elements and flavours, but the overall dish was too safe and tame and seemed monotone and lacklustre. The flavours were not highlighted, they were "just there".

Jackie - Brown Butter & Fig Financier, Grilled Figs, Orange Cinnamon Ice Cream & Lime Mint Granita. Two major flaws - the granita did not need to be there as it served no purpose other than to supposedly "provide relief" from the warmer flavours, clashing unharmoniously which defeated the purpose. The most major flaw was that while the dish looked pretty, the cake itself was raw and batter-y inside.

Tomorrow night is the Air Fryer Dessert Immunity Challenge and the best dish will not only score safety from the next Elimination, but the maker will receive a $5000 Harvey Norman store voucher to buy themselves all new kitchen equipment!
 
Wednesday is the Beat The MasterChef Elimination Challenge with guest Jess Liemantara (AKA Jess Lemon).
