Hannah - "After Dark Doughnuts" - Whiskey & Chocolate Creme Patisserie, Dark Chocolate Glaze & Italian Meringue. The amount of whiskey was so decadent that Judge Sofia called them "X-Rated" Doughnuts! 🤣

However, the BEST DISH of all was made by Pat (Apple Tarte Tatin, Wattleseed & Malt Ice Cream) who won the $5000 gift voucher from Harvey Norman stores. Congratulations Pat!

Tomorrow night Jess Liemantara (AKA Jess Lemon) is the guest and Alyona, Bella, Hannah & Pat have to keep up with or even outmatch her if they want to win the Immunity Pin to be safe from any future Eliminations.
 
After that, there will be no more MasterChef until Sunday which begins a new theme, new challenges, new guests, new Immunities and of course new Eliminations.

I initially thought the 4 Top contestants from last night (Alyona, Bella, Hannah & Pat) would have to make something Jess made and brought in. However, the judges threw a curve ball. Not only was Jess cooking something as well instead of helping with the judging, but the four contestants had to make a dish that needed to surpass Jess' dish in order to win.
 
5 ingredients were brought in - lemon, ginger, raspberry, fennel & hazelnut.
 
Each contestant chose one ingredient to hero in their dish and Jess would take the one left over.
 
Alyona chose lemon, Pat chose raspberry, Bella chose fennel, Hannah chose hazelnut and Jess was left with ginger.

 If one of the contestants made a dish that outdid Jess' dish, that person would win an Immunity Pin to save themselves during a future Elimination.
 

However, Jess's challenge was to prevent anyone from winning the pin. If Jess won the challenge - NOBODY wins the Immunity Pin!

Jess was always going to be tough to beat, and although Pat's dish was undercooked in several elements and Alyona's dish was rather simple, Bella & Hannah both rose to the challenge and each delivered an epic dessert.
 
Sadly although Bella & Hannah put up an epic fight, it was Jess who triumphed and nobody won the pin. I thought it was a little unfair at first, but that was the nature of the challenge.

Sadly, no more MasterChef until Sunday, and when the full details for the line-up for next week are revealed, I'll let you know. Among the guest chefs are The Chocolate Queen herself (the delightful Kirsten Tibballs - love her), the return of Curtis Stone who was a guest only a few weeks back, the seafood king Josh Niland, and Tom Sarafian (whom I am admittedly unfamiliar with).

Tonight on MasterChef was seafood night, presided over by guest chef and judge Josh Niland. 

 
*The contestants had to make their best seafood dish and the Top 3 dishes will see their makers win automatic Immunity from tomorrow night's Elimination set by returning guest Curtis Stone.
 
Only one contestant screwed up and that was Aaron who failed to filet his fish properly and left bones in. Had this been an Elimination, he would have been sent home.

Annabel, Casper & Petro won the challenge so they are automatically safe from tomorrow's Elimination which is another protein based challenge and therefore not my ideal kind of cooking, much like tonight. I still love the contestants, judges and guests, although the vegetarian and dessert dishes are my favourite.
 
Tuesday we have Tom Sarafian (I don't know a lot about him) with a Mystery Cloche (no idea what could be under it). It is a possible Immunity Pin/Automatic Immunity Challenge of some kind. Or they could be looking for the bottom dishes to send their makers into the Elimination on Wednesday.
 
 
Wednesday the delightful Kirsten Tibballs will be back with another epic chocolate challenge.

I'm a bit behind in my updates since my internet was down for a few days. Sorry about that!

Here's a quick recap of Monday night's MasterChef. Sorry for the lack of photos for this episode. It was a Steak Elimination Challenge set by Curtis Stone. 

The Top Dishes were made by Vinnie & Pat.

Pat made Steak, Cheesy Polenta, Tomato & Bread Salad & Chimichurri; while Vinnie made Steak Tartare, Crostini, Grilled Steak & Salsa Verde.

The 3 Bottom Dishes were made by Alyona, Emily & Bella.

Alyona made Steak, Mushroom Sauce, Cauliflower Puree & Green Herb Sauce. Her steak was overcooked and the dish as a whole lacked cohesion.

Emily made Steak, Crying Tiger Sauce, Corn Ribs, Mango & Cucumber Salad. However, her salad clashed with the rest of the dish and had no business being there as the judges said.

Bella made Cold Thai Beef Noodles - her steak was severely underdone, she made the wrong kind of noodles (hers were too thick) and the sauce was all over the place because she used way too much sesame oil.
