Monday is about Nornie Bero's Native Australian Ingredients. 
 
Nornie is seen here with judge Poh Ling Yeow. I must admit I am worried for Depinder since it is the theme that sent her home the last time she was on. She's phenomenally talented but she was out of her comfort zone with these ingredients last time. Still, this time Monday is a Mystery Box, not an Elimination, although the next night is a Pressure Test, but I hope it is an Immunity again.

Tuesday night is the Keeping Up With Curtis Stone Pressure Test (which could be an Immunity or an Elimination for one of Monday's best or least favourable dishes respectively).

Wednesday night is an Ice Cream Extravaganza Immunity presumably hosted by Maggie Beer who I know is a guest this week, so I guess this is her night to judge.
 
Then the next Sunday after this is an Elimination again, so soon we will have the Top 10. Here's hoping Depinder, Sarah & Declan will be there.

Tonight on MasterChef, the contestants were greeted by younger versions of our esteemed judges (Andy Allen, Poh Ling Yeow, Sofia Levin & Jean-Christophe Novelli). It was so funny and cute, then the real judges came in of course. Tonight's Elimination featured the theme of Childhood Nostalgia Desserts. 
 
The desserts were delicious and the stories told were heartwarming and sometimes funny or sad.
 
 
The Top 4 dishes were created by Depinder Chhibber, Sarah Todd, Snezana Calic & Alana Lowes. These desserts were classed as flawless and impeccable.

I was so thrilled on Sunday when Depinder & Sarah were in the Top 4. 

 
I'm afraid I can't do a write-up for Monday night's MasterChef, because for some reason, the photos haven't been uploaded to the site. I'm so sorry. I will try and keep you updated better from now on. Last night was not a good night for Sarah, who was in the Bottom 4 along with Ben, Jamie & Theo.

 
Thankfully Depinder is safe from tonight's Pressure Test Elimination though. She performed wonderfully last night (a pepperberry & plum meringue), although she was somewhere in the middle, neither in the top or bottom.
 
Tonight, the four (Sarah, Ben, Jamie & Theo) must keep up with guest chef Curtis Stone.
 
I hope Sarah will be safe tonight. She's never been in the bottom before. There was nothing technically wrong with her seafood dish, the judges just said it could have used more flavour. The boys' screw ups were far more noticeable.

Tonight on MasterChef, guest chef Curtis Stone set a challenge where he made a dish and the four contestants playing the Elimination night (Sarah, Jamie, Ben & Theo) had to keep up with him and produce the same dish - without a recipe, they had to rely on their eyes, ears and ability to keep time and hopefully not fall behind or make mistakes.At least that was the goal.

 
The dish in question was Braised Lamb, Herb Ricotta Ravioli, Herb Sauce, Crispy Breadcrumbs & Toasted Pistachio.

The Top 2:
 
Sarah once again proved what a phenomenal powerhouse she is in the culinary arts. She was even ahead of Curtis at some points and instinctively felt what was required of her without even being told. The dish she spilled (in the preview) was just leftover whey from the homemade ricotta, It wasn't important to the dish. Any fears I had simply vanished after that. I still have hope she and Depinder (who didn't cook tonight) will make it to the Grand Finale. 
 
Sarah may have the occasional off-night, but when she is on top of her game, she is fearless, amazing and unstoppable. 
 
Dear Depinder, watch out! What an epic Grand Finale this would make!
 
Ben also did well and proved that perhaps he doesn't really need the pin anymore after all.
 
 
The Bottom 2:
 
Jamie & Theo both screwed up their homemade ricotta and had to remake it which set them back a lot, which meant they had to rush to try and complete the full dish before time ran out.
 
Jamie ended up not having all his garnishes present and his ricotta was not seasoned well enough. 
 
Theo had such a rough time with the ricotta, he barely had enough to fill the ravioli. As for the pasta itself, it was undercooked and hard in texture, leading to his Elimination.

Tomorrow night is Ice Cream night, and not only is another Immunity up for grabs, but the winning dish will be available in stores all around the country.
 
Sunday night is the next Elimination, with guest Maggie Beer (an Aussie Icon), and after that, next week we will have the Top 10!

Sorry for taking so long in updating my MasterChef news, but I wasn't feeling well yesterday. In future, my updates will be more concise and thorough.
 
Last night was an Immunity Night with guest Curtis Stone, it was Ice Cream Night, and whoever won the night would see their ice cream recipe mass produced and sold in stores all around the country! 
 
There were several fabulous dishes, although Alana was criticised for not having enough ice cream in her creation (some kind of Caramel Popsicle), and Andre tried to redeem himself with a dish he made in his previous season (Strawberry, Black Pepper & Champagne Risotto) which failed miserably, so he made Rice Pudding with his ice cream of all things with the same flavours.
 
Sarah created a Cola & Vanilla Ice Cream With Bacon Chips, it was a little weird, but well-received. Sorry, she hasn't posted a photo yet.
 
 
Depinder also scored fabulously with her Masala Chai Ice Cream Sandwiches, Orange & Cardamom Sable Biscuits, Orange Saffron Mascarpone Whipped Cream, Orange & Saffron Gel. This is the dish that SHOULD have won.

However, Curtis and the regular judges chose Laura's Sticky Date & Cinnamon Ice Cream, Butterscotch Sauce, Sticky Date Cake, Crumble, Pickled & Charred Pineapple & Pineapple Sage as the winner.

So Laura won the honour of her creation being sold in stores (I haven't tried it yet) and she is officially the first contestant in 2025's Top 10, following Sunday Night's Elimination, from which she won Immunity of course.

Speaking of Sunday Night's Elimination, guest host Maggie Beer will oversee the dreaded Time Auction Challenge where contestants have to bid on time to score ingredients. The longer they take and the more ingredients they score, the less time they will have to actually cook with.
 
This also means that sadly, Sarah & Depinder are vulnerable along with Alana, Andre, Audra, Ben, Callum, Declan, Jamie & Snezana.
 
In more inspirational news, I just had to spread the wonderful joyous news that fabulous and inspirational Pete Campbell has beaten the cancer that forced him to leave the current season. Hugs Pete! 😍 Hopefully one day he might even return to MasterChef!

Tuesday is Tropical Trouble night on MasterChef. I don't know who makes this dish, but it is stunning. Tuesday is usually a Pressure Test which can either be an Immunity or an Elimination (traditionally the latter).

On tonight's MasterChef, it was an Elimination with guest host legendary Maggie Beer overseeing the dreaded Time Versus Ingredients Challenge where the judges slowly uncovered one sheeted table every five minutes. The contestants had to decide whether to use those ingredients or wait until another table was uncovered. The longer they took to decide and the more ingredients they scored, the less time they had to actually cook with. They could only use the ingredients on offer before they chose to use them and start cooking and could not use anything that was uncovered after they started. I always get this challenge confused with the actual Time Auction Challenge where contestants have to actually bid on time and ingredients, so that is still yet to come this season.

 
Depinder & Ben were the last to choose and start cooking. Depinder was holding out for chillies and other hot spices (none were there which was no surprise since Maggie is not known to use them - she doesn't like spicy ingredients). Meanwhile Ben was holding out for seafood which was the last table uncovered. 
 
The Top 4 dishes were created by Depinder Chhibber, Sarah Todd, Alana Lowes & Callum Hann. Once again my two favourite ladies were in the Top 4 so I am naturally delighted and fully geeking out.

Depinder, settling for cool spices & herbs since there were no hot spices, made Chicken Curry, Roti & Herb Tomato Relish. To make a herby curry with no hot spices was absolutely amazing, slightly risky with so little time also, but if anyone could pull it off, it was Depinder. The combined flavours of coriander, black pepper, ginger, fennel, caraway, cloves, onion, tomato, garlic & mint were more than flavoursome enough.
