Most cosplay props I have are either bought as is, or I do small modifications to stuff. This will be my first attempt at doing major modifications (practically from scratch).

What I'm making is the Mud Racket from Mario Tennis Fever. Its special ability is to create a huge puddle of poisonous mud where the ball hits the court. Princess Daisy uses it in the intro cutscene.

Here's the used racket I bought from a local thrift shop.

First step done (make basic structure with hot glue and tin foil). Next step, cover and sculpt the rest with foam clay.

Finished getting all of the clay foam on. This stuff is amazing (first time using it for a project). Next step, priming and painting the foam. Or, if the ink get delivered soon, making the proto-piranha logo on the strings.

After several coats of paint, the frame is all done. Now that I have the tennis stencil ink, I can start working on the string colours.

And proto piranha logo on the strings is done. Not only was that was much easier than I thought, it turned out better than expected. Now I just need to spray the protective coating onto it and it'll be done.

All finished! Honestly, given this was my first time doing a prop like this, I think it came out really well.
