@cosmic Ah I didn’t watch the panel video yet! Will check it out tomorrow.
A real Mattel employee walks through all the Chronicles and Origins figures shown in the booth and offers some additional info on availability (timing and where) and some statements on completing the vintage line, Masterverse (didn’t give me hope), and Cartoon Collections
PixelDan MOTU Product Walkthrough
(ETA didn’t see smitty already posted this one, with a nice embed too)
@johnnyotool Well, regarding Masterverse, at least they make it seem like they still want to offer some standalone releases here and there, but I’d be surprised if they even tried to pull these out of the dreaded confines of Walmart in the process lol.
so basically, that Chronicles Scare Glow was just an accident ? these new figures look like total crap, not all of them, actually Teela looks great, but I will skip her anyway of course...I kinda feel sorry for Mattel...they lost a lot of money with the movie fiasco, now they are re-booting Origins and this Chronicles thing...I guess I'll have more $ for vinyls, weed, TMNT, MK and sneakers...
@yen1893 Personally, I’m applauding these reimagined characters. While I haven’t been too interested until now, their Sky Sleds are another story ... so incredibly dynamic!
@yen1893 That Chronicles Scare Glow seems to have been the beginning of that road they’re going on with Chronicles. He looks a bit more classic, but also can stand next to these newer reinterpretations.
I’m also not sure about Clawful and Mer Man, but the concept art they were showing of Duncan and Buzz-Off look promising.
Every line needs a bit of time to find their footing. I’m not sure how far I will go on this new road, but I also have a lot of Masters figures already, so I’m ok with that.
Amongst the things that are not clear after all this info, is how Chronicles Goat Man will be released. He’s not listed in the three waves that they showed in their slides, yet the figure is fully finished…
Could point to an imminent release as exclusive, either on Creations, or fan channel… hopefully not a Walmart thing.
I’m thinking Goat Man and maybe Beast Man and Sorceress will be 2026 figures.
They were showing 2027 stuff off and we still have almost half of 2026 left.
Could anyone tell if that new Teela was significantly taller than movie Teela? Chronicles movie Teela is a little too shrimpy. Hoping they don’t overly shrink the Chronicles females like they have the Origins ladies.
@grayskullguardsman Well Chronicles is smaller than the previous lines, so it makes sense that the ladies are even shorter…
Monsters like Trap-Jaw seem an outlier, he’s also huge in Origins.
But it *looks* like the human figures are on the movie figures size, just looking at their proportions in photos? Hard to tell.
Movie He-Man is so small in Chronicles, too…
@grayskullguardsman It is notable that they did call them “Wave 1”, “Wave 2”,… So that Goat Man wave would be wave 0…?
But I guess you can say Goat is 2026, and He-Man etc is the first wave of 2927.
Plus, it would be not the first time that Mattel’s diagrams don’t make sense 😏
@johnnyotool Beast Man is not as far along as the others you mention, so I guess he would be later… end of the year?
He could also be a special release next year, not part of a wave.
@cosmic Quite possibly either of those release options for Beast Man. I was trying to tie in the BBTS Chronicles Beast Man estimated date of Sept 2026 (in no way a guarantee)
@johnnyotool Oh right, I forgot that he is already listed. Obviously there are other Chronicles releases this year (only movie figures), so my “Wave No.” argument is only worth so much…
Teela just came out, in a wave with Ram-Man and (again) He-Man.
Next up is Evil-Lyn, not sure what wave she is, and who with. Beast Man and Goaty?
The fact they seem to still be working on BM, there can also be shifts and changes.
But it stands that apparently this year, there’s only movie Chronicles, while Scare Glow was an appetizer for things to come.
Of course, when they say Spring 2027, those figures might already arrive before Xmas… Looks like we’ll get plenty of Chronicles this year still.
And I’ll see how deep I want to go into it (preferably characters I don’t have yet in MV, Classics,… or that are different enough.
@grayskullguardsman Teela needs to be shrimpy. Did you not watch the movie? Camilla Mendez is really short lol...
On another topic, I posted this in the movie thread, but when I checked out the merch for Avengers: Doomsday, I almost feel like Hasbro really took some inspiration from Mattel’s MOTU movie invasion?
Doom Masks, Thor Hammer and more play props, a smaller kids figure line plus their “Titans” larger toy line, and many many Dooms. Dr Doom is the Skeletor of Doomsday. (Likeness has similarity!)
I wrote it elsewhere, I think Doomsday might be actually more serious, (like Infinity War), so all these playful toys, it’s kinda funny to think.
Maybe I just didn’t notice it with other movies before, (Star Wars e.g.), … let’s see what kind of pop corn buckets they’ll have!

Yikes! He’s so pricey!!! A soft goods outfit shouldn’t be that expensive. Especially coming from the Barbie company.
@grayskullguardsman Unexpectedly unpleasant. Also using the standard Chronicles packaging, that's a heck of an upcharge. I've heard of the cat tax, but not like this...
He’s also on Entertainment Earth, sadly for the same price: https://www.entertainmentearth.com/product/masters-of-the-universe-chronicles-dream-date-skeletor-action-figure-exclusive/mtjmx03Dream Date Skeletor just went live on BBTS: Masters of the Universe (2026) Chronicles Dream Date Skeletor Action Figure
Definitely in a phase of rising prices for our hobby. The best MOTU line is from a licensor and costs $150+, while Matty’s new collector line is also reaching for new heights.
We always had occasionally pricey exclusives, especially when the packaging was elaborate, but even the basic Chronicles start at $30, with tax, and I have a feeling that’s only the introductory price…
Origins haven’t gone up that much– a dollar per year?… in the US. (Let’s not forget the loss of comics tho) But in parts of Europe, the basic movie Origins cost 30 Euros regular retail 😵 (with a lower income level!) International fans always get the short end… (except in 1987/88 !)
@cosmic pretty much. If I remember correctly origins were $14.99 when the line first started. Now $21.99 but $7 is a lot to go up in a span of 6 years
Yeah I mean I don’t want to complain about things that are smaller in the great scope of things, but yeah I also feel it’s going up too quickly, like everywhere.@cosmic pretty much. If I remember correctly origins were $14.99 when the line first started. Now $21.99 but $7 is a lot to go up in a span of 6 years
Origins started as the “cheap” line, now they had to invent a whole other line to be the cheap one for the movie.
Lot of domino effect everywhere I’m sure, but also suppliers jacking up because everyone does.
For the CORE line, it Looks like they had to re-invent small plastic figures to function in today’s economy. Introductory price was amazing. But if Core does continue in some form, I’m sure the price will also go up.
@cosmic both lines have gone up $7. So if you’re like me and collected both (based off 4 figure waves) that was an increase of $56 not including the deluxe figures. Makes me sick, I started off buying 3 of each origins in the beginning
@brasco (I just meant the new little CORE line in the last part of my comment).
Totally agree, I have been collecting both Masterverse and Origins, just not as a completist.
I was and am only really all-in for the original Origins line, now mostly on Creations, but I do have maybe half of the Filmation figures.
With 200X, I’ve had to radically cut down my buying, not so much with the price, but for space reasons. I really would have bought more if they had mini comics though 😏.
I feel you about the price, though. I think I would buy more figures just randomly for fun if they were under $20.
As the “larger” line gravitates now towards $30, (and became quite smaller), I am automatically becoming more selective, but since I have a lot of figures now, maybe that’s ok.
I will always buy a “new” character though, that I don’t have in that size yet, or not at all (like most of the old movie figures).
