The whole Snakeman thing came from the Classics bio, right?

I never had a lot of investment in Blast-Attack when I was a kid, but I remember he always "fought" on team Skeletor in my backyard battles.

Original mini comic, just about everything else at the time had him as an Evil Warrior.

So, the Zoids are now being teased on the latest cartback. Hmm... It would be quicker and smarter to sell them as a two-pack via Mattel Creations.

I, probably foolishly, hope we get multipacks for all sorts of things to make them viable in Mattel terms. These two, the accessory sets like Stilt Stalkers and Mega Lazer, Meteorbs, even the PoP ladies. Plus it's all taking way too long as is.

@sketchyskeletor you make collecting sound like a job. This is supposed to be fun, you should want to to go on for ever.

Things just get so pricey as multi-packs, having to spend too much at once is not great for me.

Instead of making it cheaper when they pack two things, they make it more expensive, with some complicated packaging as excuse.
(For Creations items, at least; retail multipacks are a different story, but even there, 4-packs are a tough pill to swallow).

I understand the initial outlay being tough, but then you're paying shipping every bloody time too. That's not even including CG membership. For literally years for both.

@cosmic i feel like if the did MC or CG multi packs they would be priced similarly to the retail sets we've gotten, the figures have been, so far.

@sketchyskeletor That’s the thing about being poor in capitalism, spreading it out is easier and often necessary, but it keeps you poor b/c you spend more in the long run.

You get rewarded for having more disposable money, you get punished for not having. 😏

It’s not a matter of want or planning, it’s a matter of can.

@smitty-81 Which multipacks have we had so far again, on Creations? Genuinely trying to remember

The He-Man 4-pack was a lot more than 4 individual figs. The Masterverse He-Man/Skeletor was also a lot more than two MV releases.

People have also complained about She-Ra & Swifty, though I feel a newly tooled beast might be excusable for $40, plus $20 for She-Ra = $60

The He-Man 4 pack and She-Ra with Swiftwind are the only two that were exclusive in MC, but the four pack was a displace PowerCon exclusive. The He-Man/ Skeletor pack was... SDCC, Toyfair? I don't really keep up with Masterverse.

And you're spot on about the She-Ra/ Swiftwind set, hell with premium packaging we could say we got a discount.

@smitty-81  Yeah so maybe, maybe, if a multipack would *not* be an exclusive, there’s a chance they would be more affordable. Kinda like the Swiftwind set.

I do have still concerns about future pricing of presumed MC multipacks, it could also be that there is a certain price point they have to hit to make it worthwhile. (Like, hitting the $50 / $60 price point. We also had Two-Bad for $50, but again, that was an exclusive and was 2 1/2 figures).

It’s also quite possible said future multipacks *will* be exclusives, like making Rotar and Twisty an SDCC exclusive, with lots of unnecessary packaging for $60.

@cosmic I really hope the energy zoids aren't an SDCC exclusive, and I highly doubt they will be. MOTU has been really good about not making their exclusives essential characters with the exception of CC Two-Bad.

I think the thing we are most likely to see is the energy zoids being sold, possibly as deluxe figures with legs or the spinning bottoms, with the gimmick in tact. Or we'll get them without legs, but in a two pack at the deluxe price.

As for Two-Bad I don't think there's any more to (t)he(m) than Modulok or Multi-Bot, so selling that as a set seems reasonable.

The thing is Origins has generally been affordable since it's beginning six years ago, you seemed to think that it's suddenly going to become very expensive, and I don't know what you're basing that, on.

@smitty-81 Again, I’m only speculating that (only) multi-packs exclusives on M.C. could get pricey.

I’m basing this pure speculation on the kind of sets we have gotten on Mattel Creations, which admittedly were con exclusives. I base it on CC Two-Bad set, the He-Man 4-figure set, the Masterverse He-Man/Skeletor set. Also a bit on the price point (not the value) of the Swiftwind set.

Let’s hope these are exceptions and / or the remaining Vintage releases won’t be Con exclusives.

Rotar and Twistoid as Amazon releases is a good bet, and would definitely be an affordable route.
Origins ist still definitely an affordable line.

Quick question:

Do we know why Thunder Punch He-Man has gone up in price so much??

I mean, I love the figure... this has always been one of my more favored variants from the vintage line (coloring, action feature, GOLD sword, etc. swooned me as a kid), but I just saw Flying Fist He-Man reduced to 6 bucks at BBTS...

I actually prefer TP He-Man in Origins to his MOTUC iteration because the skin tone is much closer to the vintage figure.

The multipacks are in this check list but the cc stuff is in a different spot. https://he-mania.com/masters-of-the-universe-motu-origins-sets-rides-playsets-vintage/

He got one VERY small run (same as King Hiss far as I can tell) and that was it.

@ornclown I *think* he was not released in parts of Europe.

So the collectors from other countries might have contributed, by ordering from US sources.

He might have had lower production numbers, too, like smitty and sketchy said. FF He-Man is still everywhere, with his generous smattering of accessories.

With TP HM, they totally cheapened out already with the accessories, saving money. Might be an indicator that they were slowing down with the production numbers as well. The line was not in excess mode anymore, compared to the infamous Buzz-Off wave.

Guys - friends - please help me. I need to speak to a person who works for Mattel and who lives in the United States. The overseas customer service is not able to help me.

Back in the MattyCollector (ugh) days, there was this one great guy who, if you were lucky, you might end up connected to if you called the general customer service line, who worked for Mattel in the USA. He was terrific. A real unicorn. I'm assuming Mattel either took him out and buried him in an unmarked grave for being so kind and knowledgeable, or he entered into witness protection to escape the company entirely and never speaks of his past now, even though the nightmares persist.

No matter what options I pick when I call the Mattel Creations phone line, no matter which language I pick, or which brand, I always end up in the Philippines. I have already spoken to them. They are not able to assist. In theory they should be able to assist, but Mattel gives them few options and therefore, their hands are tied.

So please, kind friends, help me avoid further intense frustration and - if you know of a way a normal sane person can contact another normal sane helpful person who just so happens to work at Mattel - share your wisdom.

Has anyone had any luck talking with a US-based customer service agent for Mattel Creations? Or a manager? Or anyone located in the US?

Thank you. Please don't pepper me with questions - it's nothing that interesting, just a general, easily-resolved issue...if I wasn't dealing with the company that likes to make us feel utterly undeserving of basic assistance even though we are the (foolish?) people buying their products loyally.

*takes a long walk*

@disneyboy most major business have customer "service" centers out side the US running call centers. None of them can offer any real help.

Oh....I know!

I'm trying to find someone who can and that means someone in the US. If anyone has found one, please tell me. I won't badger them.

@disneyboy Sometimes it helps to ask them to speak to their manager / supervisor. The low end employees usually have no power to really help anyone. 🫤

I secured my Blast Attack. And, because of the 20% off sale, I got weak and ordered a Skell-Ra. My second TCats figure. I’ve had an eye on him for a while.
(My other figure from the line is He-Man, which I like).
