@onlyoneskeletor Origins is long overdue for a shadow beast.
It ain't vintage but I'd take a Shadow Beast. Sign me up for three of em.
@ornclown that's because she was ugly both in the Vintage line and Origins line.
A Filmation version would be beautiful.
@samuel This is the problem with all these sub-themes and crossovers they're trying to push on us. They're trying to do too many different things at the same time and it's frustrating a lot of fans.
Agreed.
Like I posted in another thread:
If Mattel would hold off on the (ridiculous, IMO) Transformers x MOTU line and focus their efforts on TC, then I wouldn't be having so many sleepless nights...
They need to concentrate on ONE crossover line at a time... like they did with WWE, Sun-Man, and TMNT. I don't know what goes on over there at Mattel, but I would like the resources needed to be allocated to TC before TF.
Mattel might hurt themselves with this flood of MOTU merchandise... a part of me thinks that they are banking on this new movie to do really well. If that is the case, great! However, if it isn't, we could see some major changes to the distribution and quantity of Origins being released.
I don't want to imagine what happens to He-Man if the movie fails.
Has Mattel announced a Filmation Sorceress yet?
No and it's criminal. You can forgive Mattel for not making Octavia even though I don't want to but how do you not make the Sorceress. The Sorceress is just as important as Man-At-Arms and Teela. She is in the opening credits.
We also need a Zodac.
I would also like a Batros and Icer.
Yes to all three. Do you see what I mean? We are left with incomplete collections.
@slycooperastroboy51 I think that’s a very good take. That’s why I think Fang Man was a good choice 🤷
@ornclown It’s very hard to judge that Sorceress Origins wave because it was so immensely overproduced during the apocalyptic times… to make up for lack of product. It was a very solid wave besides Party Stratos.
It’s true though, that everybody and their kids have multiple Sorceresses by now, and they may not want to buy a Filmation version… But this may not be because she’s an unpopular figure.

@smitty-81 Unless they're trying to be provocative, I just can't understand why they're showing the Mantisaur for the hundredth time.

Maybe it'll be next years Night Stalker?
But then we still don't have this year's Night Stalker.

@onlyoneskeletor The artists just like drawing Hordak on Mantisaur because, c’mon, it’s Hordak on Mantisaur!!
Maybe we’ll get a Ted Mayer-like Hordak with Mantisaur, even though we just had that kind of Hordak in Masterverse…
But then, Mattel loves releasing very similar things in quick succession (MV Teela, all the Snakes, all the Horde,…).
@smitty-81 Isn't it? Could they be so lacking in competence that they would fail to capitalise on the 40th anniversary of She-Ra? I wonder...
I was just wondering and trying to look it up, how many Vintage Origins (based on actual vintage figures) did we have this year? Has it been the lightest this year so far?
I see only Hurricane Hordak so far… Was Modulok this year? In that case, Multi-Bit would count towards next year…
I guess Dragstor should still come this year… He-Ro should count as a half-vintage release lol
Not meaning to be inflammatory, just wondering. We are getting some cool other releases for sure, including first ever (Sharella, Sting-Or), Sketchbook, and based on Classics (Despara). I’m mostly ok with it… as long as we don’t drop under 3 vintage releases per year…
Whichever Origins you collect, that Swiftwind release was pretty epic, too, and Vultak can count in either Collection, too.

Modulock was this year, he was set for a January release but as they always do the January releases came early. At SDCC they said Dragstor is coming this year. Including upcoming figures we have 8 releases this year in the VC with 5 of them being "true vintage"
Rio Blast
Hordak, Hurricane
Dragstor
Hordak & Hellfire-Man
Sting-Or
Modulok
Battle of Eternia
Fright Zone
Then we also for 2 PoG figures with a third on the way.

@samuel Nothing will happen if the movie bombs. Multiple MOTU toy lines have been trucking along for years now without any mainstream media support.

Judging by the age of the brand and how irritated most fans are with this 'retention strategy', I wouldn't recommend going below an annual ratio of three. This would complete the vintage catalogue within three years while introducing new crossover lines in the meantime. Pushing the calendar beyond this would be suicidal, to say the least. Online platforms are full of people voicing their dissatisfaction with the company, not to mention the numerous posts from discouraged collectors who have recently left.
I want a new VC He-Man and Adam with the new "sword aloft" hand. Maybe a VC Man-at-Arms with two gripping hands and more accessories.
Origins need to circle back to the early waves of VC characters and make some improvements.

I want the vintage line completed. Even though I have some back figures to get I do want to make sure we get them all. I enjoy this line and hope to pass it along to my grandchildren if I can. I don't know if we need all these crossovers so fast. I also think the 200X cartoon line should wait a bit but that is too late now. I'd love to get Eternia but that seems like a dream.

Thanks for setting the record straight. Totally forgot that Rio Blast was this year! Probably b/c they didn’t show him at NYCC anymore… too long ago, yesterday’s news lol
5 (tru vintage) releases per year, one of them a play set, plus some PoG,… that’s actually pretty good! Can definitely live with that!
Now that Multi-Bot is out of the way, I hope we can take a bit of a break from Horde again for a little while.
Much as I like them we've gotten basically nothing but good guys and Horde all year so I'm looking forward to Team Skeletor getting a bit of dedicated focus and getting some new faces.
Not gonna insist on beating the Two-Bad drum again or insist that it be vintage necessarily (though I'd be lying if I said Blast-Attak wasn't my #1 wish for the next release), i'd be happy with some Skelcons or Gygor or Goat Man coming next year. Or if I dare wish for some really deep "never gonna happen" cuts, Mindbeast and Shezar would be dreams come true
I'd toss some Sketchbook Series options in too but at the moment I'm kinda tempted to write SBS off as nothing but variants forever until I get proven wrong
For quirkiness sake I'd love to see the Ladybird book minions for Skeletor, Mer-Man and Man At Arms. Some generic villagers would be cool too for anybody who does displays.
May keep the two in-box for a while because I feel like it, but the 80th Mattel Anniversary 2-pack.....
The MOTU Origins 200X Wave 2, consisting of: Moss Man, Man-at-Arms and the gorgeous Evil-Lyn, should be listed soon on the usual web stores, as I have seen the product files for each of them being shared by a member of a private group that I frequent.
Here are some pics of 200X Wave 2, on German site PlanetEternia.de . They were apparently listed briefly on Amazon (not sure if US or Germany).

Others are coming, consisting this time of: Zodak, Skeletor, Adam and Clawful, for whom an official image is not yet available (Toy Habits).
