@sci-fitsunami I had no comparison and didn’t even think of the knee joint… Masters was my first action figure line and kind of my only one till much later…

They just utterly blew me away, for a kid who before was playing with Lego and Playmobil. The size of the figures, the power!

O guess I noticed it was harder to make them sit but I just took that as fact I guess? I also had no vehicles, we had no money. I used some random bigger car toys for them.

I did have Panthor, that was the signature piece of my collection lol.

I can see what you mean but, I wasn’t really bothered– I was glamoured by it 🤩

Has anyone thought of trying McFarlane DC Metron’s chair for Zodac??

Where are the McFarlane collectors at?

I totally skipped Classics because I was pissed at how they handled 200x. My absolute favorite MOTU characters are Scare Glow, Spikor, Webstor, Clawful, Stinkor, Mantenna & Buzz-Off. So when they finally started releasing my favorites like Stinkor, Clawful, Mantenna & Webstor after they switched to the stupid-ass stactions I was done with MOTU.

Classics came along & I didn't even bother because just like 200x, I was sure they wouldn't make all the characters. So when they did make all the characters it was like a 2nd slap in the face.

You think that's bad... try being a New Adventures fan. 🙁

BBTS randomly got three AE He-Men in stock... so I picked up another, just in case he becomes one of those weird, extremely-overpriced-on-the-secondary-market Masterverse figures.

I'm not a McFarlane collector but I have a lot of McFarlane figures that fit into my Masterverse collection. That throne is pretty cool along with the Decepticon chair that came with SS86 Starscream.

I was just pulling the cape off a Wonder Woman that I'm gonna make into Lady Slither.

@Ornclown

I know! I hate how they only make 2 or 3 characters from NA, Rulers Of the Sun, Princess Of Power etc. & then drop it. I still want a Masterverse Optikk.

@sci-fitsunami Yeah I have a handful of DC McFarlane figs and noticed they are pretty much the same scale as MV.

Now thinking about it, I guess NE Zodac’s loincloth might make it harder for him to sit than Metron.
MV “Vintage” Zodac might be a better bet, though I didn’t really want to get him (too similar to NE).

Is that Starscream throne also about MV scale?

Yup!  They're a good size for Masterverse but the loin cloths get in the way.

@yen1893 It's basically a strategy from Mattel and any other manufacturer willing to make their merchandise (including toy brands) as visible as possible. Retailers like Walmart and Target are a really big deal in this business.

Speaking of the Vintage Collection, my Walmart was down to only 3 Zodacs. I figured they would have a ton of space for Stratos. The other day they loaded the whole section with more Zodacs. Now they have like 15-20. Those are never going to sell now. If they ever put them on clearance I'll pick up a few.

And just like the Origins figure, he has no neck. His head is way too low just like most Masterverse figures. WTF is wrong with Mattel? I can't believe they never fixed this problem.

To strike a positive note, FedEx delivered my order of Mosquitor and Mantenna yesterday, and I have to say they are really, really good. If any of you have an interest in these characters and are wavering, I don't think you'd regret ordering them.

The only slight niggle is that for the life of me I can't figure our how to pop out Mantenna's eyes. I did figure out that his face mask removes, but it still doesn't give you any grip on the eyeballs. If any of you clever chaps figures out how to do this, I'd love to hear your method!

@he-fellow I see. It might be wiser to wait for the usual YouTubers to take the leap of faith for the cause. At least that's what I'm forced to do, as my parcel left the BBTS warehouse only three days ago (en route to France).

Hey thanks so much for trying it out! Yeah I guess if anything, “Vintage” Zodac might be possible… I know that Metron doesn’t even sit flat in some of his pics / reviews, it might be possible but I’m not sure if it’s worth for me to spend the money…

The (short looking) necks in MV were always a pet peeve for me but I haven’t noticed them lately. However, Origins Zodac had the same problem.

In the beginning, I think they just didn’t anticipate some of the optical illusions that happen due to rounded shoulders, high collars,… you had to pull out the head a little, to counter the effect.

With Zodac, maybe it’s because his armor is bulging upwards, making the heck look shorter…

We assume they test and perfect each figure a million times but I don’t think corporate allows that… plus, much, MUCH of the engendering happens overseas.

I fear a lot of the designers are dealing w/ a guessing game, or like one insider said, it’s a bit like ChatGp, you hope it comes out right. The joys of a retail line…

@yen1893 It’s a “store exclusive”. An arrangement in which a retailer makes concessions towards Mattel, promises to buy a lot, and as reward from Mattel, they are the only place to sell them.

As Walmart (and Target) are huge in the USA, it is a big factor in producing retail toys. And, sometimes there is budget to make them a bit nicer (more paint apps– I think they have the airbrushing on the body like the early MOTU Classics, and painted loincloths and boots, etc).

So Mantenna & Mosquitor haven't sold out anywhere but anti-Eternia He-Man has sold out on BBTS & now EE too?  This has to be the most insane thing I ever saw. This rewrites/changes everything I know/thought I knew. lol  One of the most boring "meh!" figures in the entire line ends up being one of the top sellers? This is crazy! AE He-Man didn't seem that popular in Origins. I was able to buy a few extras on clearance to use for customs. He seemed like a really lame, niche, unpopular repaint along with He-Skeletor.

@he-fellow Finally, a first — albeit rather undisciplined — YouTuber has posted a quick review of the entire wave. He rushed through it so quickly that I was worried he wouldn't mention the Mantenna's eyeballs. Thankfully, he did in the end. According to him, a metal sculpting tool should suffice to solve the extraction-related problem. However, I would suggest a less expeditious approach, such as using a hairdryer in order to soften the plastic in this area and make the experience stress-free. Anyway, we have the power (lol)!ht

Mosquitor is his least favorite of the wave which makes 0 sense to me. But at least Mantenna is his favorite. I would've lost my s**t if he said AE He-Man was his favorite.

Hot water should allow the eyes pop out easily.

My Mantenna is at the post office getting ready for delivery today. I CAN'T FREAKIN WAIT! Just like the other more unique figures like Stonedar, Rokken, Modulok/Multi-Bot, Twistoid & Rotar, I was afraid Mattel wouldn't make Mantenna for Masterverse.

@onlyoneskeletor Good find! Like you, I'm stunned that his least favorite is Mosquitor (AE He-Man really doesn't do it for me - I'll take Faker as a repaint any day). Mosquitor is just awesome: the wings are a great touch, so much so, I'm surprised they haven't been done before; his head sculpt with the glassy eye effect is also very nice. His chest blood thing isn't handled too well, but that's not a huge deal for me. One design choice I think they goofed is to make his body a dark grey instead of black - it means he doesn't pop quite as much as his previous iterations, but this figure is still amazing. I love him.

Mantenna is also jaw-droppingly gorgeous. His body's shade of blue is stunning, and that mixed with the reds/oranges/yellows of the rest of his design is just...so nice. I'm actually happy to see the Youtuber had trouble with those bloody eyeballs as well, as there are times I miss something really obvious to other collectors and then walk around feeling like a dunce, feeling generally inadequate. When I get home from work I might just try good old fashioned tugging again, and if that doesn't work, the hair dryer or hot water might be next.

I think you're really in for a treat when your fellows arrive. I've spent a ridiculous amount of time, the past two days, just staring at these beauties. Bravo, Mattel!

@he-fellow Here's another review, this time from a more skilled YouTuber. This one literally decorticates the figures (maybe a bit too much at times!). More seriously, though, I definitely share your opinion — they are stunning! Seeing Mantenna next to the previous generation has made me realise that I'm going to have to rework the way I display my battlefield, which consists of Mantenna (Motuc), Thunderpunch He-Man (Masterverse), Battle Ram (Motuc), Man-At-Arms (Masterverse Deluxe Revelation), Horde Trooper (Motuc) and a Palace Guard (Motuc).

@yen1893 I'll do my best not to reiterate the regrettable domestic incident that occurred with the MOTUC version of him (too much friction was applied to the eyeball during extraction, resulting in a subtle but nonetheless upsetting lack of paint on the surface).

Yo!  Cut or sand off that stupid nub on the eye peg that makes it snap in. JUST DO IT!!! It's totally unnecessary & makes it ridiculously hard to remove the eyes. What a stupid design choice by Mattel. All it needed was a smooth peg/rod. I already cut mine off & it makes the eye removal a lot easier without affecting the figure in any other way.

Just look at the 2 SMOOTH pegs on the face plate. That is exactly how the eyes needed to be. Just get rid of that stupid little ring/nub thing & you're good to go. I already cut mine off & everything works perfectly.

They also could have added a little slot on the side of the eyeball for your fingernail to easily grab & pull the eyes out. If I worked at Mattel I would have totally fixed/improved this design. It's such a f**kin no-brainer yet they couldn't figure it out???

I swear these toy companies are retarded. You should see the stupid design for the elbows on Hasbro's Onyx Prime. The damn thing pops right out, nothing really holding them in. And the hips are so loose he keeps doing the splits. All I ever do is repair/tweak/mod pretty much every damn figure I get right out of the box. There is always something that needs work. As the prices go higher the quality gets worse/lazier.

Has there been any word on a NE Masterverse Marlena? I saw the CC announcement and it made me wonder.
