FILMATION OVERLOAD! Travis Knight planned on using MORE Cartoon Characters in his Movie – “Masters of the Universe: Deleted Scenes & Alternate Content” Part Three!

Back on June 5th, “Masters of the Universe” began its theatrical run in 3,677 movie theaters nationwide.

And now that the new He-Man movie has found a permanent home on streaming via Amazon’s prime video, we are continuing our series discussing what could have been… reports on exciting content that was cut from the finished He-Man film as early as the pre-production phase, and as late as in the editing room.

Today we are looking at more characters that originated from the 1982 Filmation Series “He-Man and the Masters of the Universe” that were very close to being in the Travis Knight directed film (which was his main source of inspiration for the movie.)

We already know that the cut character “Strong-Or” (originally known as Strongarm that first appeared in the 1983 Filmation classic cartoon series “He-Man and the Masters of the Universe“) went so far as being cast, with stunt performer & actor John Macdonald slated to play the villainous role. Well in addition to that, Fang Man, another 1983 figure-less evil warrior that solely existed in the classic cartoon (only appearing in one episode titled “The Time Corridor“)….

… was also a villian originally planned to be featured in the 2026 “Masters of the Universe” movie, as seen in this official concept art:

Actually both Strong-Or and Fang Man were originally going to be involved in the battle within Snake Mountain, when He-Man attempts to save his imprisoned father, per this conceptual art:

But it wasn’t just more evil warriors that director Travis Knight planned on pulling from the classic cartoon into his movie, but there were heroic warriors too!

Lizard Man was a character that originated from the “He-Man and the Masters of the Universe” classic cartoon, that appeared in three episodes titled “She-Demon of Phantos“, the “Song of Celice” and “The Rarest Gift of All“.

An ally to He-Man, and a fan favorite to Filmation fans, while we did see some reptilian-like anonymous creatures in the movie…

…according to this pre-production art, director Travis Knight had a plan for Lizard Man too in his film! Check it out:

And finally, while not a solely originated character from the classic Filmation cartoons, the heroic warrior known as Snout Spout (called “Hose Nose” in his She-Ra: Princess of Power episode debut “Small Problems“)…

…was also originally intended to be included in the film.

Cool, right? Hopefully one day we can find out from director Travis Knight why all these amazing concepts were discarded, ultimately removing the characters from appearing in the final film.
