NEW, EXTENDED AND ALTERNATE SCENES for the “Masters of the Universe” (1987) 4K Preview Cut are Revealed *Minor Spoilers*

Back in April, we broke the news that fans of 4K Physical Media and the 1987 original “Masters of the Universe” Movie could rejoice because the classic film was coming to 4K.

Then, when it was revealed that Toy Robot Video was going to include a brand new extended cut of the film in that 4K Physical Release, He-Man fans were over the moon with excitement.

This new cut was called the “Preview Cut“, four minutes longer than the theatrical cut, and featured never-before-seen footage, extended scenes and alternate takes.

So what were the changes? Thanks to community member @Kraken, we have a lowdown on some big changes. Check them out (minor spoilers):

NEW, EXTENDED AND ALTERNATE SCENES for the “Masters of the Universe” (1987) Preview Cut:

• ALTERNATE OPENING CREDITS: The names in the opening credits no longer fly into screen but rather fade in and out.
• ADDITIONAL SCENE: Upon arriving on Earth through the Cosmic Key portal, Teela tells He-Man that her father is hurt and Man-At-Arms needs his help.
• EXTENDED SCENES: Skeletor and his prisoner Sorceress exchange more dialogue.
• ADDITIONAL SCENE: After Evil-Lyn sends a message to Skeletor from Earth using the Cosmic Key, a Skeletrooper informs Skeletor back on Eternia.
• EXTENDED SCENE: Kevin plays the Cosmic Key as an instrument for a longer period of time.
• ALTERNATE SCENE: When saying goodbye to their new friends on Eternia, Kevin tells Detetective Lubic that he will tell everyone (on Earth) goodbye for him.
• ALTERNATE SCENE: When Julie suggests He-Man, Teela and Man-At-Arms can come visit them on Earth one day, Gwildor says the Cosmic Key has caused a disturbance and unleashed a tremendous power that they don’t understand. Because of that, the Cosmic Key needs to be locked away.
• Technical Note: The Preview Cut is also remastered in 4K just like the theatrical cut.
