OUR REVIEW:
An entertaining episode that begins in the Valley of Power and centers on a new wannabe villian Danavas with cool cat-like eyes. Battle Cat and Teela both feel essential here, and He-Man really seems to be relishing in his hero role. The intentional humor made us laugh out loud. (8/10)

  1. This is the best Battlecat episode of the series, even better than the episode “Battlecat" where he doesn’t even have a line in the episode named after him. I feel like writers sometimes didn’t know how to write him the way they did Cringer, but this episode shows how to utilize his full potential and his parternship with He-Man. I love their banter back and forth, and I really love the constant use of the phrase “He-Man AND Battlecat." Kind of like when Batman and Robin burst in but the villain only shouts “Batman!", it’s nice to see the partner get his acknowledgement.

MOTU is also at it’s best when it leans into humor and fun, and this episode delivers. This episode keeps me engaged and smiling throughout. Donovus is a good villain for this episode and the humor, I don’t think Skeletor or an Evil Warrior would have worked here (especially since he changes his tune by the end). For me this one is always a 9-10 out of 10.

  2. Yet another episode that I don’t find anything that special honestly.
Is Battle Cat’s random sudden ability to talk to other animals only brought up here as a single episode plot convenient ability deus ex machina? Sure feels like one.
Donovus literally threatened the royal family and He-Man let him off with a simple “hehe well you’ve learned your lesson now."
Also I know this is an old cartoon that had negative continuity unless the writers felt like it but seriously 38 episodes in, Teela should at least heavily suspect why Adam and He-Man are never in the same place and stop easily brushing it off. I bring this up because she asks where Adam is to He-Man twice. I know she’s Adam’s bodyguard and Adam transforms into He-Man in private, but I’m just gonna say if this is the case, then she’s honestly a bit terrible at her job from certain perspectives even if Adam’s always fine.
The showrunners obviously excluded her from the “three others who share this secret" because she’s supposed to be the love interest.
It’s just a small nitpick that I’ve just heavily detailed.

    1. @slycooperastroboy51 Lois Lane is also a terrible reporter if she can’t tell Clark Kent is Superman with a pair of glasses and goofy change of voice. Clark also disappears when there is trouble.
In both cases it requires the audience’s suspension of disbelief. The trade value is you get is an interesting love triangle with a hero that she can’t have and an alter ego that is never quite the man she needs him to be.
