OUR REVIEW:
Count Marzo returns once more, this time in an episode that also serves as an origin story for Mekaneck. While too brief, it is still one of the better heroic warrior origins this series has seen. Count Marzo steals the show though, but makes us wonder why does his evil schemes always involve children. (7/10)

  1. Overall I like this episode- It’s nice to get more Mekaneck and Buzz-Off, it’s fun whenever the king and queen are more involved in the story, and Marzo makes for a strong recurring alternative to Skeletor – he presents a different type of threat.

I still wish they did a little more with the season 2 and 3 characters- Mekaneck has a different voice yet again (except for 1 line in the old voice while they’re in the cave) and it feels like Buzz-Off was shoehorned in last minute, he really isn’t necessary to the plot at all.

Did Mattel ever consider a Marzo toy in the 80s with how frequent he shows up way more than I expected? Maybe Filmation was hoping he’d be like Orko and gain enough traction in the show to justify one?
I suddenly want a Origins CC figure of him. I know he got a Classics figure because everyone and their grandma in this franchise got one apparently.
Out of all recurring Masters I would’ve expected to be a parent, I didn’t expect it to be Mekaneck, but hey some nice character depth for him in the final episodes of this show.
