Announced by a spokeperson today, actor James Tolkan died yesterday in Saranac Lake, New York. He was 94 years old.
Probably best known as the principal in the “Back to the Future” trilogy or the hard nosed commanding officer in “Top Gun“…
… to so many He-Man fans, Tolkan was lovingly known as Detective Lubic in the 1987 motion picture “Masters of the Universe“.
Often meeting fans and signing autographs at conventions across the United States, James will always be remembered as warm and endearing to the He-Man community, and just a pleasure to be around with.
Donations in his memory can be made to your local animal shelter, animal rescue organization or Humane Society chapter.
James Tolkan will be missed and never forgotten.

Loved this guy in everything he was in. However, his extended screentime in MOTU as Lubic really sold him for me as an actor. He was believable in every role he played.

James will live on through us. Sure it is sad but it is also bittersweet. Making it to 94 is a success story.

OMG I jinxed him – just a couple of weeks ago in the movie thread I suggested it would have been bonkers level awesome if James had a cameo in the new movie passing Nick in the gym as he’s working out and shouting, “LIFT HARDER, SLACKER!!"
