OUR REVIEW:
Prince Adam has a ceremony to attend, but decides it should only take a "few hours" to locate a secret underground gateway and find a legendary magical waterfall (all to restore Orko's missing magic.) Unbeknownst to them, this quest will foil Skeletor's befuddling plan to steal King Randor's "Sceptre of Power", an item Skeletor acknowledges has no power, it's just symbolic. Muddled logic throughout. (3/10)

  1. I’ve always found this one at least entertaining but I agree with you that it’s not good. It’s not “Monster on the Mountain” bad, but the whole premise is nonsensical. I know it’s a kids cartoon but if you think Orko is going to spot the disguise why not just capture him or try to kill him vs taking his magic and hoping all goes well. Plus you’re right, even if Skeletor got the scepter is everyone just going to say oh well, guess we have to obey him now?

Kobra Khan is definitely the bright spot though. Given that I grew up with this show as the basis of my MOTU lore, I really don’t like how he’s switched to Snake Man over Evil Warrior because he makes such a good evil warrior. From volunteering for the mission, to threatening the Eternian in line, Kobra Khan is probably the scariest and one of the most competent Evil Warrior- glad we got what we did but would have loved more.

    1. @battlecat327 I love all the episodes but this one in particular frustrates me a little. I don’t remember a single episode where Orko could spot an evil warrior looking like someone else starting with The Shaping Staff. It feels like it is a change in character and unnecessary to do with such few episodes left.

  2. I watch the first thirty seconds and Adora, wtf!?

Is the old man the same one from the very first episode or do they just reuse his design? He-Man and Orko don’t seem to recognize him.
Gotta love how in action cartoons when they emphasize in one episode a power a character apparently always has  but never uses in any other episode when it could’ve been useful. In this case, Orko’s disguise sensing.

    1.  Exact same character model though – I’ve never been a fan of it, it looks too “cartoony” for He-Man’s art style

For how campy this show can get, I do sometimes find it funny when character designs unnecessarily clash. I like the widgets and find how those bear people from a few episodes ago straight up look like they’re from a different show. A different show I’m speculating Filmation did and reused those animation models. That may not be the case but it feels like it.
