Historically important to the expansion of the “Masters of the Universe” lore, Larry Houston has had quite a stellar career beyond the Masters of the Universe minicomics.

Larry F. Houston is the Emmy-nominated Producer/Director of  THE X-MEN Animated show, the phenomenally successful 90s series that expanded the scope and laid the foundation for Marvel’s multi-billion dollar mutant franchise globally.

The iconic X-Men TV Intro and inspiring GI Joe Movie Intro were both drawn and directed by Larry, as well as the intros to The Karate Kid, RoboCop: Alpha Commando and the TV show Community’s GI Jeff Intro.

Hired by Filmation Studios as the FIRST African-American Saturday Morning Storyboard Artist, Larry next worked at Marvel Productions as a Storyboard Artist on classic 80s and 90s shows like: Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, Spiderman and his Amazing Friends, Thundarr the Barbarian, Batman, The Transformers, Spawn, Mr. T, Exo-Squad, The Real Ghostbusters, Conan the Barbarian, Swamp Thing, Mighty Orbots, Bionic Six, Visionaries, Hulk, and Defenders of the Earth.

Larry was promoted to DIRECTOR on the GI JOE syndicated series and that led to him being hired by several other animation studios to direct their series: Captain Planet, The Fantastic Four, The Real Adventures of Jonny Quest, RoboCop: Alpha Commando, The Karate Kid, Kid N Play, Fat Dog Mendoza, Salty’s Lighthouse, and three (3) Care Bear Movies.

He drew the He-Man Mini-Comics that accompanied each of the He-Man action figure packaging for Mattel and co-created new inclusive characters into the MOTU Universe.

The very FIRST animated appearance of THE BLACK PANTHER anywhere was in the X-Men and in The Fantastic Four episode “Prey of the Black Panther”, both series directed by Larry Houston.

He is currently Executive Producer on the new X-Men’97 series on DisneyPlus.
