  1. 2026 is an insane and great time for MOTU, the return of the cons is a welcoming sight!
I’m curious though on where and when MOTUFest is happening. Being based in Michigan, the flight and hotel stay might not be financially viable for myself and the family to go to MOTUniverse and then if both cons are happening around the same time does that mean issues securing talent?

  2. Recently I’ve just started going to cons in my state (live in Texas). Recently went to the Houston Celebrity Comic-Con where I met and got autographed from John Morris (voice of Andy in Toy Story 1-3), Mara Wilson (90s child star of Mrs. Doubtfire, Matilda and I dunno some dumb movie about trains co-starring the deity of my 5-year old self), Grey Delise(made her sign my MC Despara figure card back she was amazing and we had a nice brief conversation), the legend Jim Cummings and
    Frank
    Friggin’
    Welker
the Transformers comic he signed will be my new family heirloom.
next month I’m planning to attend Sonic Expo Dallas ‘cuz in case y’all aren’t aware I’m a massive Sonic fan. Thinking about trying cosplay for the first time and crafting one of a fusion between Hordak and Shadow. Really wonder if any in the Sonic fandom will recognize that I’ll be half Hordak? (Maybe more likely if it’s 2018 Hordak)
I legit may consider Motuniverse as my first out of state con. I mean it’s official. It’s the first year it’s taking place. Will be quite historic for the fandom.

  3. I’m glad we are getting a MOTU con again. I’m a little surprised to see this site doing it just because they are overseas based. Some celebrities from the new movie and voice actors from MOTU Revelation/Revolution that weren’t there before would be nice. I know it isn’t likely, but Mark Hamill would be my biggest want for the con.

    1. @firefly I thought AJ was from the US. Is he from the UK? Mark Hamill would be a great get. I would bring him something Skeletor, Joker, and Star Wars related to sign.
You are probably right.  I guess I thought that way because of the way the time on this site defaulted to an overseas look for me and things like that.  Either way, I am happy for this site to get a con.  I worry about two competing cons on MOTU, though, as it seems like Val just decided to get back in the game as well.  I hope they can both succeed.  I went to the Torrance site 3 times and enjoyed it.  I’m not sure yet on either con.  I doubt I could do both and I might be able to do neither.

AJ is based in the US!
I’m on the East Coast so planning a California trip next year might be out my price range even though my wife is all for it. I’m just waiting to see and hear what Val is doing with MOTUFest this month to figure out the dates and location before i commit to one or the other.
@Ornclown being Kickstarter you absolutely should be able to contribute if you’re still not able to attend. I know I will be! If I can do some small part to help celebrate MOTU in one of its biggest years ever and potentially in person with other fans, then I’m all for it and I gotta do it!

Yep! Anyone will be able to contribute and even the smallest contribution will be so very much appreciated!

He-mania.com is definitely U.S. based but I would have come to the same initial conclusion as you did. I had some issues with date and time formats restoring to default presets.

And thanks! I hope both can succeed too! 🙂

    1. @dgsimo I always stayed in the hotel the Power-Con was at.  Typically, they’d have a Power-Con discount rate.  Easier to bring purchases to your room and if kids or wife get bored, they can hang out at pool or room. I took shuttle services to get from LAX to hotel.  Sometimes, Power-Con would have a discount on those.  I did rent a car the time I took the family to Torrance and wanted to go to Disneyland, 45 minutes or so away.  Torrance isn’t super close to the major attractions.

    2. @firefly Awesome thanks for the info! Yeah just looking and the family looks like they’d be content with the mall and beach close by and there seems to be a ton of food options too. The wife isn’t a MOTU fan in the slightest but is getting excited at the prospect of flying to somewhere new and checking out the area!

  4. Yeah, there is a mall and food choices close and some nearby beaches.  I’d probably recommend a rental car if wanting to go to any of the amusement parks.  Not sure how prices are now, but I took shuttle services to and from the airport while renting a car at the hotel for a day when we went to Disneyland.  Rental cars are usually more pricey directly at the airport.  I suppose you could maybe try to Uber it, but it probably wouldn’t be cheap.  I’d price things out before you go to get some estimates. If the family is content hanging out in Torrance the entire time, you are probably ok, but you might want to consider taking an extra day to hit a big attraction while out there.

    1. @firefly Thanks for the info! We’re still trying to figure it all out but we’ll see what happens!
I know Jay and Mike were talking on various streams over the weekend and gave a peek at the Kickstarter, which I believe is this week, and what I caught was the big Founders backing was around $150 that gives you everything the VIP back does along with more merch and front access.
The VIP pack was $60 but I’m not sure if these prices are locked in yet.

  8. It begins! I’ll be checking it out after I pick my son up at 3:30 lol
Also I wonder it Mattel or Amazon MGM reached out or if MOTUNIVERSE folks have reached out to them yet, to which in a live stream they had every of intention of talking to those guys to try and get some con involvement. 🤔

  9. MOTUNIVERSE is proud to announce esteemed designer William Stout will be joining us this May!!

Artist William Stout has worked with Russ Manning, Harvey Kurtzman, Will Elder, Jean “Moebius” Giraud, Will Eisner, Jack Kirby, and Al Williamson. Upcoming is a volume on his work in underground comix, to be published by Last Gasp.

  10. Nice guests.  I’ve always thought Diane Pershing would be a good get.  She was scheduled to appear at the 2020 Power-Con that was canceled due to covid, so never actually appeared at a Power-Con.   The only living Filmation voice actor that did cons to not do one.
Not sure if I can come yet or not, but are there hotel discount rates for attendees?

    1. @firefly Yes! It’s on their kickstarter page and they said in the stream they’re actively working with the hotel to get the best and cheapest rates they can. For example on the kickstarter it lists a 2 bed room, that’s a double size if I remember right, as $199 a night.
I’m keeping my eye on it myself too though, I have 2 rooms booked for the weekend that are Queen size but also ne a rly $250 a night. lol

    1. @dgsimo @gatorrob

      As you gentlemen mentioned!

MOTUNIVERSE is proud to announce Tim Sheridan will be joining us this May!

Tim is an 𝘌𝘪𝘴𝘯𝘦𝘳, 𝘙𝘪𝘯𝘨𝘰, 𝘎𝘓𝘈𝘈𝘋 and 𝘊𝘳𝘪𝘵𝘪𝘤𝘴 𝘊𝘩𝘰𝘪𝘤𝘦 nominated writer-producer of tv, movies & comics and a proud part of the creative team on 𝘔𝘢𝘴𝘵𝘦𝘳𝘴 𝘰𝘧 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘜𝘯𝘪𝘷𝘦𝘳𝘴𝘦: 𝘙𝘦𝘷𝘦𝘭𝘢𝘵𝘪𝘰𝘯 and 𝘙𝘦𝘷𝘰𝘭𝘶𝘵𝘪𝘰𝘯 for 𝘕𝘦𝘵𝘧𝘭𝘪𝘹, 𝘔𝘢𝘵𝘵𝘦𝘭 𝘛𝘦𝘭𝘦𝘷𝘪𝘴𝘪𝘰𝘯 and 𝘋𝘢𝘳𝘬 𝘏𝘰𝘳𝘴𝘦 𝘊𝘰𝘮𝘪𝘤𝘴. 11. If I were to go, it would probably be by myself.  Being on Memorial weekend means my kids would miss up to 2 days of school depending on flight days with just a week or so to go in rhe school year and I’m a bit apprehension about dealing with the airports during one of their busiest times of the year.
