Masters of the Universe: Revolution Thoughts.
What shall I say about this show. To start I can say since it’s Netflix debut I have watched it upwards of 15 times. Each time around I catch something different, some line, some detail, some music that grabs me. I feel the voice acting was more on point this time. The recasts didn’t bother me, and I do think Melissa was the voice of Teela needed for this series. I feel the animation was just as good if not a bit better than before. There were so many gorgeous shots that I want as wallpapers for my laptop, and screen saver for my TV.
There were interactions in this series I didn’t know I was waiting for. Orko and Gwildor bickering. Both getting to say one half of the incantation. Seeing them insult and bicker with each other was awesome. I never as a kid didn’t think they both couldn’t be in the same universe and that Gwildor was on Orko replacement.
Hordak was a proper tyrant in this version. Calculating, manipulative, cold, and terrifying. His speech to Motherboard to execute the next phase of the plan to get Keldor crowed was a masterpiece. This was a villain to fear.
Shatner as Keldor, the other half of nerdom playing off Hamill was chef’s kiss. I loved the way they split the usage of the two actors especially when Shatner started a line and Hamil finished it. The threat level of Skeletor increased in a lot. Seeing him finally accept that he is Skeletor and took down Hordak was great to see. Like Keldor said they are meant to Master the Universe.
When Adam gave the crown to Keldor and became the high adventure hero he was born to be, he was the happiest He-man I have ever seen portrayed in any Media. He brought hope with him, and enjoyed what he was doing. I liked the way to cure the virus was to share the power and how he found out by sharing it with that, boy. It got dusty in the room during that scene. The Power Sword, Orb of Grayskull or whatever power chose him and his sister, (there I said it Despara is Adora she is coming,) chose well. Did any of the previous champions call upon the fabulous secrets of Grayskull without a conduit? Like Man-At-Arms said in Revelation Adam gave the power away that is what made him a hero. He was the only one in Preternia that was in his appeared lesser form. The twins were special probably because they were of mixed blood. I was always a fan of Adam is really who he is when he is He-Man adventuring, the lazy prince is the act. Chris brought something to both Adam and He-Man that I appreciated and enjoyed.
Then the moment that I knew I wanted to see happen happened, but of course before it could happen we got the great lines between Gwildor and Orko “What the devil are they doing?” “training”. I kinda took it as they are training. This is the next level of who they are. Then came the declaration of love, not with the traditional words but ones that were special for them. The way he whispered the words, “By the power of Grayskull,” how many times do you think Chris practiced saying that line to his actual wife Melissa once she was cast? I got chills and had to rewind it and watch it again. I fully admit this 43 year old man cried. Then promptly laughed when Gwildor said “you know I think those two have the hots for each other.” Seeing these two finally come together is something that has never left my mind since the late 80’s. The way this sequence played out was beautiful.
I have a theory Randor also had his memory of Adora removed. This could possibly be explained if we get a third part, (which I hope is guaranteed at this time).

I loved reading your thoughts! In regards to Orko and Gwildor, I do wish they had a little extra time in the series to flesh out a character arc for them... a realization after all their bickering, they had much more in common than they first thought. And after all those short jokes, Gwildor could finish with a compliment like "out of all the magic users I know, you sir, stand the tallest" 🙂
We have the Power!
@admin I agree they could have used a bit more time together, but I think they will be teamed together should we get a 3rd part. Adam/He-Man trusted both of these two in different for different reasons and it was nice to see them together. I can see them having more a sibling relationship where they do jab at each other but in a loving way. Eventually I think they will have the moment where they both give a compliment to each other but then go right back to bickering.
TRIVIA FROM ETERNIA - #017 - A bee's intuition? 🐝 As Keldor was crowned King in the animated series Masters of the Universe: Revolution Episode 2 "Ascension"... everyone appeared to salute, cheer and celebrate it except Buzz-Off.

Odd though about Revelation / Revolution.
Does anyone think Randor's mysterious organ failure could have been a last moment spell cast by Skele-God?
I mean Lyn tosses that comment out about killing Randor, but doesn't do anything about that as Dark Lyn, but He-Man re-transforms Skeletor into Skele-God so its possible as He-Man tosses him away that he last minute used the power to afflict Randor as revenge. Just as Lyn suggested earlier.
As for why he never mentions it, we next see him furious at his loss, but then infected by Motherboard...its possible...even likely his memories were once again altered as they were when Keldor was erased from him.
IDK just a thought.
@allhailmotherboard I like your idea @allhailmotherboard but it makes me wonder when He-Man threw Skelegod what made him transfer back into Skeletor? Why didn't he stay as Skelegod?
@ninadust Simple. It works like Battle Cat. When He-Man lets the power return, the power leaves him and everyone he shared the power with.
@allhailmotherboard It's feasible, mate. I always felt this theory that AJ posted was a good one.

I will never forget the hype surrounding this show those were great times
I was sick and bedridden today and rewatched both Revelation and Revolution, and boy were they great!! Episode 1 of part 1 was so awesome, it gave me chills and had a great cliffhanger. I wasn't the biggest fan of episodes 2 and 3, but Andra was great, and Teela was kind of a b*tch. Then episode 4 was so cool with subternia and Teela becoming more like her original self, and scareglow was awesome! Episode 5 was so cool with He-Ro and King Grayskull in preternia which was the Eternia playset was an awesome touch. I loved the idea of what if neither side won, and everyone just fell apart. Part 2 was much better, I liked seeing Evil-Lyn's arc, and Adam transforming without the sword. This was probably my favorite version of Adam, Chris Wood was amazing. Also, I loved all of Marlena's references to Cher from Clueless which is one of my favorite movies! 😃 The final battle was so epic, with Teela becoming the sorceress. I loved it all. I think people would have liked it more if they didn't say it was about He-Man. People would be fine that it was Teela and Evil-Lyn's story if they just said that. Either way, revelation was great, and it reminded me of Thundercats 2011, it was great, but with a little bit of character assignation along the way, but then fixing them at the end. Revolution is probably my favorite MotU show now. I lived everything. It was funny, beautiful, eerie, and sad all at the same time. I loved seeing the Horde, and Gwildor fighting with Orko was hilarious. I wish they did a little more with Andra, but they had only 5 episodes. Evil-Lyn was my favorite character, I thought she wa hilarious and I love how she's a cosmic enforcer now, though it's a bit random. I loved every second, and the music was amazing as well as the beautiful animation. I need more!! Especially with that Despara tease at the end, She-Ra is one of my favorite characters, I hope Mattel decides to do another season, even if it's not with Netflix. I DEMAND MORE PLEASE!! We need to spam this guys, we need to get this off the ground. I don't want comics, I want season 3! I love this show so much!! After the ending of revolution, I want the next season to open with adam as HE-MAN, referred to as Adam, with a prologue like "I am Adam, of Eternia. Defender of Castle Grayskull" because he's not a prince anymore, and there aren't any secrets of Grayskull to protect anymore.
I loved Revelation & Revolution up until they killed Panthor & Motherboard. IMO Motherboard was the greatest new MOTU character. But they only created her to kill her off. And Panthor has always been a favorite. You can't have Skeletor without Panthor & Screech. They never did anything with Screech & barely used Panthor, then killed him.
I have a real problem with MOTU because they keep ruining or killing my favorite characters. Revolution killed off Panthor & Motherboard & the new movie just ruined my #1 favorite character Spikor and also ruined Roboto.
I love the MOTU toys & box art but that's about it. They forced me to hate the Filmation cartoon, the 87 movie, Revelation/Revolution & the new movie. I just can't catch a break. They always have to ruin everything for me. It feels like they know exactly who my favorite characters are & then they fuck with them.
And the stores, especially Walmart, and all the eBay scalpers are totally ruining the toy collecting side of it. I just can't enjoy MOTU like I should. They screw up all my favorite characters & make the toys I want the most impossible to get.
@sci-fitsunami hey, everyone's got different opinions, and I get where you're coming from. And I would love a MotU adaptation that is like the boxart or minicomics, but I don't mind the new spikor, I think he's cool. And I don't mind the race swaps but that's just me. Everybody has a different opinion and likes different stuff. You're not trying to seem offensive, or hateful, you just want it to be a certain way. I get where you're coming from. I feel like Revalation/Revolution was as close to the boxart and minicomics we could get, and I liked it that way. I like MotU no matter what the story is, or the twist is. So I like your vision, but I really just don't care how the characters are changed. As long as the story isn't dumb. I wish they didn't kill panthor and motherboard as well. Also I wanted more Clamp Champ. And where was Stratos?
