We have the Power!
This is definitely another "fun" episode. While it's not uncommon for the heroes to go to Snake Mountain, I really enjoy the ones where they're able to spend a lengthy amount of time there. I love it when He-Man just smart mouths everyone, it really gives you the feeling that he's holding back/toying with people half the time for fun. It's also nice to see a Beastman/Trap-Jaw pairing in Season 1 - later episodes really lean into this pairing and unfortunately it feels like they get dumber every time. They're not exactly rocket scientists here, but not useless either.
The only complaint I have is Orko pretending to be He-Man - it leads to some fun quips, but having anyone buy that is far-fetched even for this show.
This was fun. 8 out of 10 but subtract 1 point for all that flippin grumbling.
@vintagetyler The grumbling gave it charm. The script must have been funny to read. Lol
Pretty good episode. No pun intended but it's a pretty chill one. Characters are just having fun then some bad stuff happens. I like some but not all Orko centric episodes (I see him as cute, not annoying like most), this is one of them.
Only problem I have with this episode is this is like the 3rd or 4th time so far where the main conflict is "We've gotta save [INSERT IMPORTANT PERSON]'s daughter who's been kidnapped!"
I don't mind it. 130 is a huge amount of stories to tell in two seasons so formula repetition isn't that surprising.
This is one of my favourites - it just feels so utterly representative of the series, with an exciting plot, a great sense of humour, and a team away day for He-Man and co. to Snake Mountain. Haven't seen it in years but it's one of my go-tos if I'm trying to introduce He-Man to someone.
4 stars. Love the episodes where you see the evil warriors interacting with each other. Also when snake Mountain seems like a dangerous trip instead of somewhere the good guys can just quickly pop in and out of.
