We have the Power!
I absolutely love this episode - you feel the cosmic threat throughout yet they're able to keep in just enough light heartedness throughout - this isn't your typical Skeletor plot.
It's probably my favorite line-ups of both the Heroic and Evil Warriors as well - It's much more interesting when it's just Battlecat and Orko around, they have so much more personality than Man-at-Arms and Teela in that it just feels more fun. Mer-Man is my favorite Evil Warrior and I love when he's teamed up with Beastman, he seems to bring out a much more competent Beastman at times.
The only slight criticism I have is Zodac's plan - he starts this thing and then does his thing of "I can't interfere" yet if Skeletor got the Star Seed first (or He-Man failed the test), everything is screwed. Minor complaint though. The bookends of Teela were nice too the way Adam played off of her. "Oh, it wouldn't have been anything that He-Man and Battlecat couldn't have handled!"
I think this is a great episode.
A plain He-Man vs. Skeletor episode with a limited cast, but a good one at that. I like how it was revealed at the end that Zodac basically helped Skeletor find the Starseed, because it plays into his mysterious not-entirely good, not evil but neutral alignment. Also Zodac only appears in like four episodes right? Is this the only one where his ass is out of that chair?
Lowkey when He-Man was being negatively tempted by the Starseed, I thought he was gonna be like "gotcha!", revealing he was joking. IDK that kinda the "Looks like hero is being tempted by dark artifact but turns out to be a joke" trope I've seen a few times in more modern media.
I liked Beastie and Mer fighting over who gets to be Skeletor's second in-command like two kids fighting for dad's affection. I'd like to think Skeletor offered second-in-command position because Evil-Lyn was out on a paid time off vacation to Etheria IDK
4 stars. The plot is a bit basic but the episode has absolutly peak skeletor being skeletor. My daughter is confused why Zodak knows the secret when its only supposed to be 3 others.
