We have the Power!
This episode is great. It belongs in a group of educational episodes that could have been shown in schools to teach children valuable lessons. Did you know that Lou Scheimer's daughter voiced Jeremy? She did a great and he didn't sound like a girl at all. Seeing Rammy is always fun. This gets an eight because it's great.
This one is okay. Fine but forgettable. It won't be one of my go to episodes.
Yeah going in my mediocre episodes list
I get what they were going for.
a typical kid's show "Don't be an asshole" message, but I'm sorry I feel like in terms of those it kinda falls flat.
Jeremy is an annoying jerk almost all the way through and is animated as if he was born with a frustrated face. They keep telling him to stay out of danger, but guess what saves the day? Him disobeying adults.
If they were trying to write him like a realistic grouchy kid, then was this really the right way to go? Maybe they could've written a different reason on why he's so snobby that he "Wants to have fun"?
And I'm saying this as a guy who consumed a LOT of classic Thomas the Tank Engine in his youth. I know this is a very weird comparison in terms of shows (tough both are owned by Mattel, where's the crossover? 😆) but I'm just saying the kid's show "Don't be an asshole" message is better handled a dozen different times in a show made with model trains with faces that are all voiced by Ringo Starr/George Carlin in 4 1/2 minute episodes.
Maybe it's the fun train wrecks and engines creatively shit talking each other with locomotive terms that help.
In this watch order this is the first episode we've reached that I am rather "meh" on. Jeremy is just too annoying, and we're just a couple of episodes since the last one dealing with a problematic cousin of Adam's, where Creatures from the Tar Swamp pulled it off much better.
I really like the Evil-Lyn/Tri-Klops pair up, this episode just reminds me why I wish we had more of him. I also like that the episode immediately sets up that He-Man just had a big fight with them, I can appreciate that it helps move the narrative along faster and lends to the viewer's imagination.
The other nitpick on this one is the globe - I love the idea, but (and maybe this is just FIlmation's limited animation) I always hate when they try to show He-Man's strength in a non-sensical way - jumping on it and pushing it down without any type of brace, much like when he grabs the Cosmic Comet or when he moves the moon in "Jacob and the Widgets." I do enjoy the Sorceress combo in the end where she gets him to the window and he gives it a boot.
3 stars. Nice lesson for kids and a more straightforward episode than the edwina one. Triclopse and evil lynn get taken down to easily tho.
