@longtooth This ultimately may just be a me thing, but the monster in this episode took me back to the 1977 film "Sinbad and the Eye of the Tiger"... specifically the creature to the right. 🙂

After famine we have a feast. I can do without Donny and Marie Osmond but Demos and his Witch Queen have it going on. I liked how the Witch Queen said Skeletor looked familiar which means he didn't always have a skull face. It also shows how long Skeletor has been alive. I also liked how Demos was more powerful than Skeletor. That upped the threat level. It's a good one.
Are they brother and sister? I thought they were a couple. I like Aran and Oona. They learn they're not villian material and that allows the moral of the story to revolve around them. Lucky for Skeletor they are not Demos and Tyrella. The Sword of the Ancients was so cool. What would happen if you raised it and said by the power of the ancients? I want to know! I give Masks of Power an 8 out of 8.
I’ve never been able to put my finger on exactly why, but I’ve always been “meh” on this episode. Maybe as a kid watching He-Man go against two old people (at the time, ha) felt like a let down. But primarily because the mini-com is my all time favorite and this is vastly different.
That said, it definitely has some things going for it. I like Skeletor utilizing new warriors (even though it didn’t work for him), and anytime He-Man and Skeletor have a common threat is fun.
Really don't have that much to say. Just another average episode.
Is the only time they semi-reference the original He-Man/Skeletor half sword toy gimmick? I'm thinking yeah the cartoon discarded a lot of things the early toys and mini-comics had established, but the fact of Skeletor randomly having his own Power Sword under Snake Mountain (already forget of whether he was actually aware of it) and never using it like was it a coincidence that the writers made that a thing or suddenly did remember the half-power sword toy gimmick?
Also the golden masks made me think "was this the episode represented with the CC Ram Man figure, because he's no where in here?" No that's a different episode.
@slycooperastroboy51 Skeletor was not aware that the Sword of the Ancients was there. He is only the latest to occupy Snake Mountain but he is not the constructor.
2 stars. The villans designs are uninspired and boring. Snake Mountain is entered way too easily (where is everyone) and skeletor made to look a chump. The ending was super corny.
Mini comic was way better.
