For me, #1 is easy. The original Dallas with J.R. Ewing turned prime time TV on its ear. Television's G.O.A.T. imo. Larry Hagman, Victoria Principal (sigh) Patrick Duffy, Barbara Belle Geddes and Jim Davis? What a cast! Great chemistry. incredible storylines and fantastic dialog (writing). It had it all. Every episode was better than the great episode before it.
At Number 2, Suits takes the cake for me. Donna (sign, again) and of course the always cosmopolitan Harvey Specter with his designer suits, $500 haircuts and a new top end car every couple weeks. He could have been a cardboard character, but instead he's the tough lawyer with a secretly caring heart. Yeah, there's the love interest between Mike and Rachel, but it's Louis Litt, imo, who steals the show. Soooooo watchable.
At Number 3, a short-lived but great -- for the first two seasons -- series: Into the Badlands. What can you say about a series in which women are making stunning martial arts moves while wearing stilettos? Lol. It's the rare series that made post-apocalyptical into must-see TV. Definitely outside of the box. So sad it went completely off the rails in latter seasons.
Number 4. Desperate Housewives. Yeah, yeah. I know it's a chick series., Fortunately I'm confident enough in my masculinity -- Kim says sometimes I'm too confident in my masculinity -- that I can enjoy a female-driven series. And what a series it is! With compelling characters, intricately woven storylines and a vision of suburbia that never fails to intrigue, I defy anyone to watch one episode and not end up hooks.
At Number 5, Resident Alien. We loved this series, with waaaaaaay outside of the box characters and stories. Broke our hearts that it, too, went off the rail by going to a space ship in the final season, but it was fun while it lasted.
Alright, alright. Honorable mention goes to the original Star Trek. 😉
Okay. How about you?
