The promo for the coming new season of MasterChef just aired, with all new contestants. I don't know how many contestants there are, what they all look like or all their names yet, but if the following link works, you can see several of them interacting with our esteemed returning judges - Sofia Levin, Poh Ling Yeow, Andy Allen & Jean-Christophe Novelli.😀

 
The seasons usually begin in April (I'm not sure of the exact start date), and more information and pictures are sure to be shown before the season actually begins. I am so excited! 😀

MasterChef is coming very soon, I am excited. It has been announced that as usual, guests are coming to test our new contestants (who should be revealed very soon I imagine). These guests include: musician Jimmy Barnes and his wife Jane, animal expert Robert Irwin (son of the late Steve Irwin), Aussie icon Maggie Beer (she's practically culinary royalty here), former contestant and TV personality Justine Schofield, and chefs such as Andy Hearnden, Andy Cooks, Rick Stein, Curtis Stone & Adriano Zumbo. 😀

It's going to take a while to get to know all the contestants and even longer to choose my favourites. For some seasons, I knew my favourites right from the start, and for other seasons it took time, like this season. However I wish everyone the best.

In other awesome news, classic favourite contestants Sarah Todd & Declan Cleary and their baby girls will be guest judges! It will be great to see old friends again.💖

Here are the photos of the Top 24 MasterChef contestants. As of now, I think I am warming up to Luke & Jack the most, I'm not sure why, but they do stand out.
 
The show will be airing Sunday - Tuesday.
 
I just wanted to apologise for my lack of MasterChef updates, I did want to share the photos of the dishes with my usual write-ups that you love. The MC Instagram and main site have been slow in uploading photos, but now that the auditions are over, I am sure there will be lots to share from the main contest itself.

 
I can tell you that the next couple of challenges are a Mystery Box set by rocker Jimmy Barnes and his wife Jane, and a Pressure Test set by iconic culinary legend Maggie Beer.

Tonight on MasterChef, rocker Jimmy Barnes and his wife Jane brought in a Mystery Box with the following ingredients: spatchcock, rainbow trout, cavolo nero (a type of kale/cabbage), Edinburgh rock (sort of like confectionary), mulberries, thyme, spring onions, tamarind, carrots & red adzuki beans.

 
The garden and pantry were out of bounds but they could use the under the bench staples along with the given ingredients.

 
The four judges said that they and the Barnes' would only be tasting the 10 best dishes of the evening. Whoever made  the best dish would win Immunity from tomorrow night's (first) Elimination.

 
Surprise! There was also a Mystery Ingredient (which turned out to be whiskey marmalade). Any contestants who chose to use this ingredient would receive an extra 15 minutes cooking time.
 
Of all 24 contestants, only Grace decided against using the marmalade.
 
There were a few tense moments - Annabel did not fillet her trout properly (the first time), Alyona decided halfway through that she would abandon the trout entirely and focus on the spatchcock, and Miin spent too much time on the sauce and nearly forgot to cook his spatchcock, although he managed to serve up a good dish.
 
The 10 chosen dishes of the evening were:
 
Casper, Dot, Pat, Alyona, Hannah, Jack, Luke, Alita, Annabel & Miin.

Also, as always, I still much prefer the vegetarian & dessert dishes, so I hope there will be more of those! Jack, Luke & Alita made some epic desserts and I would have chosen those instead.

Tonight on MasterChef, the contestants had to bring forth a dish that shows who they are as home cooks. The least favourable dish would see their maker be Eliminated.

 
The two best dishes - according to the judges - were those created by Bella & Emily.
