Anyone hate or at least annoyed that some of the recent CC figures that look amazing, such as Man-E, Tri-Klops and Hordak and a few others don't have weapon accessories?
I mean yeah each CC figure comes with an accessory based on a specific Filmation episode (Except Man-E for some reason) which is an awesome idea, but MOTU figures coming without a sword, melee weapon, blaster, etc. just feels wrong. I honestly don't care if it was accurate or not to the cartoon whether they ever used any weapons these figures just don't feel complete without them. Did Man-E ever use his blaster from his original toy? Did Tri-klops ever use his sword from his original toy?
From what I've seen of Filmation (haven't watched all the episodes yet) I can't recall and am pretty sure no. I know it's called CARTOON Collection, but I don't think that means the figures always need to be completely cartoon accurate in terms of what accessories are included. And I think I have a good point because the Wave 1 Skeletor comes with his purple Power Sword that was never in the cartoon.
And I really have this issue all because of one figure. One figure that has this tiny little nitpick despite everything else being great and would basically be among my favorites if it didn't have it.
CC Hordak. Hordak can literally turn into anything and all they give him is a ball with a handle. I've seen the episode. I know that this is a time stop device, but for this to be the only accessories that you give in a great figure of the franchise's 2nd biggest baddie just feels insulting. I like to pretend it's one of those heavy things you swing around idk what you call them, to at least pretend that it's SOMETHING he can fight with. At the very least they could've given him his damn arm cannon to swap his normal arm with.
Yeah I rambled but do any of you also have this small-yet-feels-big pet peeve?
If you grew up with the cartoon and watched all the episodes over and over again I think you would feel differently. Pixel Dan feels like you and he just turned 40. Fans that are older look at a CC Hordak and know giving him a weapon would feel completely wrong.
Nah, I'm exactly who you're describing and having a shelf full of figures holding artifacts is just plain weird. It's even more annoying if you wanna use them for a proper display. Even a nasty cannon would have been better for Hordak. Or a 'slug' Imp like Catra's pack-in.

Any Imp would be awesome. Kowl too. I agree there are better relic choices. Cartoon collection could be a baf set where you can build oversized Filmation monsters. There are better options but the last thing I want is items never seen in the cartoon its based on. That would be dumb.

I think they trapped themselves with episode-specific accessories. Effect pieces would have been so much simpler as another example, blast pieces for the villains, a punch whoosh or impact, a glow effect...

That is a great idea. You need to get that idea to Mattel.
@samuel It's weird they haven't did more effect pieces, like the Adam transformation bolt was with Battle Armour He-Man, weirdly.
So, what are we expecting to see at SDCC?

I'd really like to see the remaining small and larger playsets and some more vehicles though.
My gut feeling is that I'm going to be very unimpressed by the MOTU reveals at SDCC this year. I haven't felt this negative since the waning days of Classics.
Gonna be honest yeah all that rambling I went on about CC accessories was about a nitpick I had with CC Hordak not coming with a replaceable arm canon.
and yeah think all of you have fair points about this debate. I didn’t grow up with MOTU. In my early 20s. It’s a franchise I only knew existed growing up. First got into the franchise because of She-Ra 2018, even saw the finale when it came out. Have been a Transformers collector and was a Star Wars one in 2022 and started collecting some Origins out of curiosity because being a big toy collector with one of the big 80s toy brands making a big comeback. I was like “why the hell not?”.
only got like 9 figures, Battle Cat, Panthor and the Sky Sled while watching some of Filmation for a month or two and just fell off ‘cuz idk.
Now since I got back into the game and consumed way more content I now have a collection of 50+ figures in the span of almost five months.
Yeah.
That being said I just finished 200x (and by finish I mean watched probably more than half the episodes and at least most of Season 2) and if this show came out around 2008-9 I would’ve eaten that sh** up alongside Transformers Animated.
Also for the record even when I wasn’t into the series I’ve been anticipated the upcoming movie for several years because I always knew MOTU from looking at it a bit that it would have the great potential for an amazing film franchise.

I agree with the hand-cannon though; does make him feel a bit more complete.

It's sorta difficult to see where they can go that's exciting. I was even wondering about yet another crossover... in terms of something that would generate direct MOTU chatter though the only thing I can think of is New Adventures. I'm assuming it's too early for upcoming media looks.
How about - I dunno - a big push for She-Ra's 40th by featuring Castaspella and Angella figures alongside other popular characters like Huntara and Octavia, new to this scale?
(I'm going to be so disappointed, aren't I?)

Unfortunately, I think a lot of us will be disappointed in the fact that PoP has pretty much gone unnoticed by Mattel.
By this point in the line, we should have a large number of Rebels to go alongside the Horde figures... it's crazy to me that Mattel produced not one, but TWO Michelangelo figures in Origins BEFORE we've even seen Glimmer... smh.
Now... don't get me started on New Adventures.
If Mattel is ignoring PoP... then they've outright disowned NA. 🙁

Don't get me wrong, I'm a completist, but for many a load of almost identical silhouette female bucks just won't be interesting. They'll be the new snakes if they aren't peppered thinly through waves or boxsets.
There's been loads of hinting at NA and other than 200X again it's the only path left.
I thought last year was the absolute worst SDCC showing for figure selection, outside Rio Blast and Modulok, and it killed alot of my interest in Origins for the last year.
For me, reigniting that hype looks like this:
- don't do "only two vintage per year" shit again. Double or triple it. I want to see Two-Bad, Dragstor, Blast-Attak, Stonedar and either Multi-Bot or the Energy Zoids.
-Goat Man, since he's easy and to build hype for his movie appearance
- Sketchbook Series. People who asked for concept shit for years were mostly asking for unique characters, not variants, so put out one or two of those. Wrap Trap or Dylamug or Horde Brain, rather than "heres Spikor, but he's brown now"
but for many a load of almost identical silhouette female bucks just won't be interesting. They'll be the new snakes if they aren't peppered thinly through waves or boxsets.
Yo. I'm exactly the guy you're talking about. I don't wanna see Filmation toys in general, I consider them just worse looking versions of their vintage counterparts, and the PoP side is significantly more uninteresting because at least MotU occasionally had a unique villain that I thought had potential (I'm talking Strong Arm specifically)
Tying back to an earlier comment, about the only potential overlap I have with what PoP fans want is Octavia...but only if it's Sketchbook, she deserves to be what she was originally intended to be, a MotU character intended for the vintage line alongside Wrap Trap and not treated like she's a PoP/Filmation character. That should be her default design and positioning in this franchise.
I'm up late at night. Ordered Gildor on sale for $12 along with Despara for a normal $20. Would say good buy. I now have four online exclusive figures on my way.
No joke guys, my first online Mattel Creations purchases besides the Club Grayskull subscription came in just three days after I ordered them. I am shocked and amazed. This is Amazon fast and I don’t even use Amazon anymore because reasons I’m not getting into. These are like my first true Fan Channel exclusives of any kind I’m sure as a toy collector (especially the premium type).
Geldor (was on sale), Despara, Hurricane Hordak and He-Ro.
Is this insanely fast shipping from them normal?
I live in Texas and the figures came from California and I expected them to come like a week after purchase because I usually buy figures from eBay and BBTS now. I know MC has a very overpriced upcharge option of 1-2 day shipping.

Look....if you can have a regular vintage-style Trap-Jaw along with a Filmation Trap-Jaw, a Sketchbook Trap-Jaw, a Ninja Turtles Trap-Jaw, a 200X Trap-Jaw and a 4th of July Glitter Edition Trap-Jaw...you're in a really privileged place as a fan of the character.
For us She-Ra fans, really the best versions of those characters, with almost no exceptions, are the Filmation versions. So you saying "Bah I don't want them to even exist!!" is really harmful because it reinforces Mattel's consistent reluctance to make She-Ra characters.
Once the cartoon Collection ends, that's it for She-Ra characters. They won't get made.
Please, for real, if you cannot support buying FIlmation figures with your money, at least support the line with your words. We've been waiting decades to see these figures made. You lose nothing by them existing. You will still have your expansive collection of He-Man and friends figures.
Let us have our characters made too. Be supportive.
Don't give Mattel more excuses to crap out on the Cartoon Collection and by extension the She-Ra brand.
@disneyboy Very well stated and I absolutely 💯% agree. Thank you for saying that. 👍
@disneyboy You see, SDCC is Mattel's last chance to establish a significant presence with a wide range of these characters, as they did with the mini-subscription in 2014. After that, we can only hope that they will occasionally produce characters from this faction, albeit knowing that we will no longer be able to complete the collection. I agree it's a bit fatalistic, but...
Cretins gotta Cretins... I was sent the very first fan poll as a link that just gives an error message. They've also got a summer sale on with barely any MOTU that they didn't even tell us about.
Seriously, if it isn't Mattel running that shitshow or even if it is, sort it the fuck out! It's 2025 and the internet isn't going anywhere!
@depp76 the support is appreciated.
I'm not trying to single anyone out here...it's just that I've been hearing the exact same selfish harmful comments from MOTU fans since the Org days, and its beyond unnecessary.
No one begrudged them their 3 dozen Teela variants...while we have ONE ADORA FIGURE.
LITERALLY. ONE. In all these decades. Only ONE Adora.
Think about that before moaning and groaning about how the line isn't catered enough to y'all.
If POP fans can be happy for you having your MOTU figures and buy them and applaud their sculpts and accessories, etc, why can't you do the same?
It's easy. And it helps the entire brand.

I'm sorry but there's no A leads to B here... loads of MOTU fans do not give a flying crap about She-Ra (I personally do).
For them it was an unnecessary spin-off that may or may not have killed the wider brand and had toys that didn't 'work' with what they already had. It was an out and out girl brand with combable hair and seen as one. The Horde figures were advertised on TV as a new faction with no mention of She-Ra and so on.
You have to be realistic about this, if it didn't grab you in childhood chances are you're not paying attention to it now much less trying to prop it up. And you wouldn't demand a football team's fans show support for other teams online... there are figurative and literal dividing lines when it comes to She-Ra for the wider fanbase. There just are.
A good example is I personally collect all the She-Ra stuff we've been getting, but even I know all the female characters are gonna feel like a chore because my connection to the cartoon isn't that strong and I didn't own the literal dolls back in the day. If I feel like that...
All I can advise is aiming for a full-on, loud fan campaign. Anything else isn't gonna cut it. I mean Mattel are asking which MOTU Origins crossovers we want next they're so bloody dumb.

Okay I'm gonna make an argument that y'all aren't gonna like. Mattel will keep doing these crossovers for probably 1-2 more years because of one thing: More brand awareness. More brand awareness leading up to the upcoming film's potential success and beginning of a MOTU film franchise. I think they'll finally stop once the whole franchise is mainstream again on a scale not since the 80s, more and more kids of this generation will know who He-Man is (BTW sidenote I just finished with 200x, is 2021 Netflix decent enough of a watch?), etc., etc.
Again, should the movie be a big hit, it is then Mattel won't have the need anymore to try and get fandoms of other franchises invested in MOTU.
@slycooperastroboy51 Oh yeah, the crossovers will continue as long as they're deemed successful. The issue is what's left that will actually work with the squat or relatively squat MOTU aesthetic, but also what's 'big' enough. My guess is we're getting DC next, there really aren't many franchises that'll fit.
You can watch the Netflix Kevin Smith show as 'content' but it's got serious storytelling flaws emanating from it's need to go girl boss. There's so much nonsensical and (poorly written) unnecessary stuff in there that's purely to get to the next scene of female representation.
The CGI cartoon has a great first season and then bombs hard with season 2 where it's just endless character introductions for toys with almost zero plot.
Pound for pound the Netflix She-Ra show is where it's at. It's diversity overload but it's very well written and uses it's characters properly.
