@kraken If we look at the price that the Origins Snake Mountain was listed at, which is sold out now, I don't even want to think about what they could be asking for the Fright Zone.
😶
Anyone hate or at least annoyed that some of the recent CC figures that look amazing, such as Man-E, Tri-Klops and Hordak and a few others don't have weapon accessories?
I mean yeah each CC figure comes with an accessory based on a specific Filmation episode (Except Man-E for some reason) which is an awesome idea, but MOTU figures coming without a sword, melee weapon, blaster, etc. just feels wrong. I honestly don't care if it was accurate or not to the cartoon whether they ever used any weapons these figures just don't feel complete without them. Did Man-E ever use his blaster from his original toy? Did Tri-klops ever use his sword from his original toy?
From what I've seen of Filmation (haven't watched all the episodes yet) I can't recall and am pretty sure no. I know it's called CARTOON Collection, but I don't think that means the figures always need to be completely cartoon accurate in terms of what accessories are included. And I think I have a good point because the Wave 1 Skeletor comes with his purple Power Sword that was never in the cartoon.
And I really have this issue all because of one figure. One figure that has this tiny little nitpick despite everything else being great and would basically be among my favorites if it didn't have it.
CC Hordak. Hordak can literally turn into anything and all they give him is a ball with a handle. I've seen the episode. I know that this is a time stop device, but for this to be the only accessories that you give in a great figure of the franchise's 2nd biggest baddie just feels insulting. I like to pretend it's one of those heavy things you swing around idk what you call them, to at least pretend that it's SOMETHING he can fight with. At the very least they could've given him his damn arm cannon to swap his normal arm with.
Yeah I rambled but do any of you also have this small-yet-feels-big pet peeve?
@slycooperastroboy51 I see where you're coming from... I was a little miffed that Trike didn't have a real weapon.
However, I'm not too concerned about it because of the plethora of extra accessories I have amassed over my MOTU collecting years... as a matter of fact, I ended up giving my CC Trike the Sword of the Ancients that came with CC Skeley.
I will say that Man-E should have come with a Filmation-style blaster - episode accurate or not, he just looks naked without a firearm of some sort.

Yeah you basically just described my issue down to a T. The figure looks great and the feature of replacing his head and basically letting have the face of anyone looks fun to mess around with, but the fact that he doesn’t come with anything, not even a small accessory based on an episode, makes me like "should I really pay full price on this?"
That being said I just looked up this exact site's official youtube video review on it and it's speculated in it that his whole head gimmick took up the figure designing budget limitation or whatever and he couldn’t include anything as a result. That's honestly understandable. I know he's a new figure, but I would wait for a slight discount or sale for him if there ever is one.
BTW you said episode accurate, so he did use a blaster in the cartoon?
The weapons thing is super annoying, practically nobody would choose the accessories we get.
As an aside, the 'spare' sword with CC He-Man is the one Classics Fang Man got...
After reading Sharella's minicomic, I figure we must be getting the Great Black Wizard in Mattel Creations website, right?
@he-metayer If possible, I would like to see this for both lines this time around. I think you guys are way too spoiled by the Origins brand. 🙃

Its him or Eldor next. GBW looks like he could have some parts reuse with only a new head and legs being necessary. And he's got Blast Attack legs so they could be reused.

*slow clap*
Sold out after 30 mins; got held up by a neighbor and checked just now. I mean, fantastic job Mattel - how many did you guys make? 20?
Ffs, honestly.
With a 15 day exclusivity window (of sorts) and a sellout you'd assume more will be listed on Cretins. As is, they have it shipping on or before August 15th.
BBTS have it listed as July lol.
It's yet another unnecessary Mattel/Cretins 'half of an exclusive' shambles.
The captcha system blocked me for a short while and asked me to confirm my identity again as I filled out the payment section. Weird! But the order was finalized at 6:25 p.m. This is a big deal for me; I waited so long! When Motuc was taken over by Super7, there were strong indications of their interest in this playset until things went south once again. In any case, I wish my colleagues here the best of luck with this amazing piece.
I managed to get my Fright Zone from MC while on the road to Lake Tahoe.

@lasastard Go to BBTS...
Thanks for having pointed that out!
Theoretically an option, but I am buying from overseas; and while BBTS ships internationally, they do not deal with any of the fun customs/VAT stuff. Which may end up costing me quite a bit of time to deal with. So I honestly can't be bothered at this point 😀 I don't think it's unreasonable to assume that a paywalled online pre-order item that is very much part of the core "Origins" line would be available for longer than 30 minutes. Mattel is genuinely killing the fun of collecting this line for me...
I took the BBTS route... saved me some of the hassle.
I also went ahead and preordered MOTU x TC wave 2, and the latest CC figures.

@lasastard If I were you, I wouldn't give up just yet. First, the product file says the shopping window is from July 1 to July 15. Second, the "while supplies last" message makes me think that they had a few units ready to go, which might explain why the sale ended so quickly. Check the site every now and then; you never know what you'll find. I've also seen a few stores selling these items abroad. Depending on where you live, this could be an even better solution.
@OnlyOneSkeletor I hear you; and I really hope that Mattel does have more units on the way. But it seems like a rookie move to announce this, especially as a CG exclusive, and then run out in under 30 mins. I want to believe that they are prepared for that, but their track record does not make me overly hopeful 😉
Will also check my go-to stores to see if the FZ pops up there eventually..
They still have a few Filmation characters I really hope they get to…
Kobra Khan
Mekaneck
Sy-Klone
Moss Man
Marzo
Horde Trooper
… and more!
Hope they don’t leave Filmation in the dust for 200X…

I'm wondering if they'll have the guts to do Chopper...
@grayskullguardsman if they do make CC Mech-a-neck I hope he's in a wave with "budget saving" figures so he can use all the accessory budget for neck extensions.

So I'm feeling like finally using my Club Grayskull membership about 2 months after subscribing to one and making my first real Mattel Creations purchase overall and getting my first real premium online exclusive action figure.
Thinking about getting He-Ro and Hurricane Hordak together. He-Ro because he is the only one of two CG exclusives as of now, no interest in Sheralla. Have no real connection to him other than thinking the figure and collector targeted packaging look cool and I love franchise deep cut figures, will probably have really as a novelty.
Hurricane Hordak 'cuz I love Hordak, have his Buzzsaw, CC and just now awesome Turtles of Grayskull variants and this variant also looks cool. May get Despara at a later date because yet again, awesome design for the alternate version of Adora.
Do y'all recommend those figures if you have them?
BTW I've always thought "He-Ro" is the stupidest name ever thought up for a literal action hero and also the fact that he was from a cancelled toyline to help save the franchise after the '87 movie's failure. It 100% wouldn't have had it hit shelves. Would a main character, even with a cool design with a lame name like that, and is an ancestor to He-Man who lives in a prehistoric Eternia aka no cool Sci-Fi/fantasy balance have appealed to kids in the late 80s? It had dinosaurs, but that theme of toys from what I know didn't catch on until the release of Jurassic Park with the exception of the Dinobots from Transformers 'cuz ROBOT dinosaurs with funny caveman voices. The fact that it was canned likely meant Mattel thought so.
