So Mattel Creations is having an end of the year 30% off sale. The special She-Ra and Swiftwind 2-pack is going for $42. TOG Skele-Shredder is going for $31.50. Any recommend either or both?
Love the She-Ra and Swiftwind set, mostly because if the horse of course. They did a great job, it’s an impressive set and a dream for every She-Ra fan.
People said it was too expensive, so at a lower price, even better.
I don't see how $60 is too expensive when Battle Cat was $40 five years ago and a core Origins figure is closer to $20 now.
Adjusting for inflation the set should have been $70 or more.

We pay for the privilege of having these lovely items right then and there. Also we avoid the risk they might sell out.

They could at least wait longer to do it because now they've created the opposite scenario of what you're saying, more people will just wait for a sale since almost nothing sells out immediately. It's the Mattel version of what now happens extensively with Hasbro's lines.
Also, doing it with paid membership items or at least stuff where you get early access really is crap. Paying extra to be left with regret in very little time? Once you factor in shipping individual figures are fucking pricey every month.

As long as I have a bit of cash for my hobby, I don’t mind that much.
I buy things right away not to regret / missing out, and as long as the price seems ok to me (really pricey things like He-Man 4-pack, I skip). I get it when it comes out, and barely look back.
Of course I never buy multiples, and don’t collect much outside of MOTU. But I’m also on a fixed budget.

Ahh... the lifelong struggle of the collector. FOMO causes us to snap these things up the minute they get released... but, there is always the chance that they will still be there long after they're released.
It's crazy to see Sharella and Rio Blast going for 12 bucks when people were paying close to $100 on eBay when they originally came out!
I remember when the Club Eternia Classics exclusives were later added to the Mattycollector holiday sales. Wow, some people were absolutely livid when they saw you could get club exclusives - on discount and without subscribing. But, the whole reason we all signed up for the sub was because of all the prior sell-outs of popular figures...

That's the same thing that happened this time. Koldar sold out quickly as did MTO Grizzlor and Wun-Dar, Cammo Kahn too I think.
MC had a lot of figures sell out in the early years.

Mostly though, I’m just enjoying what they are doing with the line, and I look forward having the new figures asap! Sometimes within days!

This year they showed Dragstor and them, last year they showed Fisto and them...I understand what you are saying, just trying to keep the hope alive...like that phrase from Princess of Power 80's cartoon ''when hope seemed lost'' type sh.t

I've learned that, fundamentally, selection is not the real enemy of the collector. There is another factor which is even more upsetting than this: Reboot. I got sick of this reality. After I reorganised my Motuc collection back in 2022 to introduce Masterverse progressively, And now, four years later, we're being asked to start again?!

He shipped in the UK at least, I'm having to return one of mine because the primary headsculpt has the helmet glued on wrong (there's far too many QC issues in general now, and it's fucking not on with exclusives).

This makes me think that we need more Ancient Egyptian themed characters in MOTU.
If Mattel gives us Garn, he could be added to Nepthu, Wrap-Trap, 200X Sorceress, and Taylor Man-E-Faces! (I'd even throw Kothos and Shokoti in there, too) ....almost a new faction?

Ah that’s annoying about the helmet, but yeah I saw some Germans have him, too. I guess because he’s not an exclusive there.
He kinda disappeared from the discussion here in US, so I was wondering where we’re supposed to get him– or if I’ve missed something.
I almost feel I preordered him,… maybe Target and he got quietly cancelled?!
Can’t keep up with all these exclusives.
It seems they’re getting ready to release Sketchbook MEF, so it feels they missed a slot and might bring two sketchbook releases together.
Perhaps there was a shipment delay / snafu to the US w/ He-Man.
