Can anyone give me context on this Red Shadow guy? I’m not knowledge enough about the part of the lore based off a toyline that never came out, big surprise.
He's a character created for the MOTU Classics mini-comics that only now got a figure. Here's his bio from that line. At least some of it will probably appear in his new mini-comic:
"Born with an offensive stripe of blood red fur down his back, Dumaskas was a shunned prince of the Beast Men in the Vine Jungle of Preternia. Feared as a pariah, he was forced by his brother B'steel to wear a magic mask that made him into a servant of the Great Black Wizard until the Preternian nature god Moss Man set him free. Unable to remove the mask, Damascus became known as Red Shadow, now able to commune telepathically with the fauna of Preternia. Even alien beasts heard his calls, as he discovered when he saved his loyal friend Hop-Or, a small hopping shminavit of Tranis, one of many aliens magically stranded on Preternia by the spellcasting of the Great Black Wizard. Red Shadow later defeated B'Steel and taught their innocent younger brother B'Karr how to speak to animals as well, making him into the fabled Beast Lord who united the Beast Men clans as allies of King Grayskull. After the Great Wars, Red Shadow used the magic portals of Castle Grayskull to find peace on other worlds."

Scare Scream shipped a couple hours earlier.Will be a good weekend (or a REALLY good start of the week).
They're ALREADY shipping the Primes and Starscreams? I'm currently looking at the MC website and it says they're still up for pre-order and will ship around May. I know that's not true and people are getting them now but....how?
@slycooperastroboy51 he's Beastman's grandpa, but a good guy and an outcast amongst his people, and he has a super cool mask from that one episode that somebody remembered really well.

They're ALREADY shipping the Primes and Starscreams? I'm currently looking at the MC website and it says they're still up for pre-order and will ship around May. I know that's not true and people are getting them now but....how?
Yeah I didn’t order Prime, so not sure about him,… but Scare Scream is out for delivery in my borough already 😳
Sometimes I feel there is an earlier, (smaller?) batch they’re getting, and then later comes the bulk.
I feel that happens with BBTS, too. Except those cases, when there *isn’t* a second batch surprise, surprise!
Of course, it might also just be sheer luck and just something good that happened unexpectedly with Mattel’s schedule.
Looking forward to my little MOTU fest this weekend 😃

Starscream came yesterday, Prime didn’t ship with him. Was hoping both before xmas for presents. Not happy buying these and the ridiculous prices with them, but my son wanted them along with the Thundercats and the 200x line. And im here twiddling my thumbs waiting for the orgins/vintage line to be finished, but no, they keep making made up characters that matter nothing to the og line.

Give Prime a go during an inevitable sale (the prices are nonsense). I did, without the visor he looks decent and the accessories are great.

Yeah Amazon really cranked up their fleet during lock downs and it was actually great for being cooped up inside.
People say greed but it really is just normal part of capitalism per se. Those corporations always want to show “growth”. So eventually, if they can’t get many more customers or new business, they start cutting costs. (Even when they’re otherwise perfectly profitable!) Which leads to creeping shitification, widespread.
I’m still angry how the same happened to streaming. It got more expensive AND they brought in advertising. Argh!
@ornclown Weeell, I only participated in Matty at the very beginning, and I remember never being able to order a figure the first time around. It sold out so fast.
I only got some of the first four figures when they did a second batch, with “The Original” printed on it. Good times.
(I got back into Classics in 2020, collecting the ones I could afford, before moving on to Origins and MV).
Before Mattel created the Club Eternia subscription model, it was an asinine bloodbath when a new figure was released.
I remember having two computers running, with multiple windows open, just to try and jump in "line" on Digital River's purchasing platform... (which often ended up redirecting to a blank white screen.)
By some miracle, I was always able to walk away with two of every figure that came out before subs became the thing. Afterward, I just signed up for three subscriptions and remember being so relieved that first year at not having to deal with all of the Matty-drama... (until I was shipped two Sorceresses in Fisto boxes... ugh.)

I was totally checked out at that point. With life, I had other priorities and wasn’t paying attention till… the pandemic and my own disability.
Now I’m a fanatic lol
On another note, I opened my Red Shadow today. He’s pretty cool.
I think he may also have new hands? They look more chunky, and don’t have that claw / decor from Beast-Man. They have 5 fingers so they can’t be Grizzlor either. He also has new boots / feet, (neck part)…and head, obvy.
His facial features are a bit funny to me, with that high hair cut, long snout… But I like the colors on his face.
My biggest fear, that the mask would not hold well, it seems to hold up ok, though I’m not sure how / why?
Love how you see his teeth and eyes through the mask. (Still would have preferred a sculpted on mask.)
Weapons are great except that knife is tiny piece of grey plastic.
Some subtle, nice paint details on brown parts.
Looking forward to reading the comic tonite!

So it is only the boot parts and head that are new body parts, just like Creations specified. Should have believed them.

One of the double-edged swords of the sub is that you were all in if you didn't want to miss out. There was inevitably griping whenever a New Adventures, concept, or new characters were announced. I can't speak for everyone, but I was a completist so that was just fine for me.
Towards the end there were a few add-on lines meant to fill out the roster. 200X, POP, and Filmation got these add-ons. There was also the 30th Anniversary line, which was six new characters (starting with Fearless Photog.)

I never felt like I was going to get a figure / character that I didn't want.
Classics was, and still is my favorite MOTU line of figures, so I was all in no matter what.
The only thing that really bothered me back in those days was Mattel releasing figures like Laserlot, Spector, Ditztroyer, Dawg O Tor, etc.. BEFORE releasing the rest of the New Adventures vintage lineup... then, Mattel -in their infinite wisdom- decided to add a 200X subscription BEFORE adding a New Adventures sub!!! 😡
At that point, I knew Mattel had no intention of releasing the rest of the NA characters and just dealt with the disappointment.

I agree on all counts, though I still enjoyed getting some of the less popular figures like the Fighting Foe Men and Vykron. I probably would have traded some of the 200X figures for NA. I definitely would have traded the Filmation variants for NA. There was some talk of NA multi-packs that unfortunately never materialized. It seems that NA was always the poor seller, and I remember the whining when a figure was announced.
I had hoped that Masterverse would correct that. They actually gave us a Slush Head that I am forced to admit is better than the Classics version. But, unfortunately, we get screwed again. Oh well.
Somehow I’ve had troubles giving a thumbs-up to the last couple posts… sorry I didn’t mean to give a thumbs down… 😅
Though the fact that Mattel never gave us Sagitar and Spinwit in NA Classics… NOR in Masterverse, that definitely gets a thumbs down from me.
